Always respected deadmau5 for being one of the few _"EDM"_ producers that are very outspoken about this. Unfortunately, loud won. Especially in _"EDM."_ People basically chalk it up to "being the style" now.

A nice little reset to do for the current loudness wars.... Pick a Prodigy tune from the 90s (No Good or Smack My Btch Up) and level match it with a current edm tune. The 90s tune will hit harder, more bass (proper bass, not the midrange crap that ppl think is bass these days), and a more open sounding mix.

The Chemical Brother's album Further was made with old school analogue equipment when mixed and mastered and the range in loudness actually sounds really amazing. It almost sounds like it's going to distort at some points it gets so loud but it doesn't, it's still clear but intense.

These times are about quantity not quality unfortunately. We were used to quality over quantity

People’s attention span has decreased, and the most commonly used music speakers are the cheap headphones included with the iphone. That’s what drives the loudness wars. Yeah it sucks ass for people who really like music. We’ve raised a generation that’s happy with crappy overly compressed music listened to on shit speakers - both limiting and file compression.

I love how he loves what he does. You can tell he would do this for free. Few live a life by doing what they love to do

DONT RANDOMIZE YOUR VELOCITY!!!! this is NOT what industry producers do, they actually have a keyboard and play it, randomizing verlocity is completely unrealistic. What you can do, is using humanizing, to slightly offset your notes so that it sounds more human (NOT that wierd stretch tool he showed!)

Experienced this today, wanted to play a louder mix but it was with older songs and tbh... It sucked, I like that new quiet shit.

I used to listen to music like super loud. when I was a kid, I always thought it was better. now As a producer... it hurts my ears, listening to any song that's literally clipping (you can hear it) but yeah the Loudess war It's the stupidest thing. if it's loud enough, and if it is a good song I wish nobody would care
