    Can I use that turbo smart vee port bov on my stock turbo is it the right one for my kind of turbo or which one do you recommend? Or should i do a 50/50 bov also if I put a short ram intake and have a diverter valve would I get the “swoosh” noise because that’s what I’m going for just for the noise

    Hi, sorry to bother you with such a silly question but I just got a 2013 Juke and I was changing the air filter on it and took the ( snorkel as you called it in your changing the air filter video ) off and noticed that the foam ring that is glued onto the pipe that the snorkel piece fits down over has come off and is just hanging down and I've looked and looked and I can't seem to get a answer as to what it is , what its for and how or where I can get the foam ring piece to replace it or if I even need it and seeing that you work on the jukes a lot and seem to know a lot about them I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and ask for your help lol ( I'm clueless about cars ) but I hope to hear back from you :)

    So basically if you don’t change the oil, the oil feed line will fail? Are there any other reasons why they are prone to failure? I would absolutely appreciate a responce, as I have been contemplating changing out my current OEM line simply as preventive maintenance. Thanks so much FR 🤘 Ps my juke is 2014 SLawd with 109k miles and has had regular oil interval changes its whole life to my knowledge.

    • @TheFastReligion
      @TheFastReligion 12 дней назад

      Regardless of if the oil changes are done perfectly, they still can fail. Whenever we get a stock Juke that comes to the shop for any sort of repair work or maintenance, we try to get customers to swap out their feed lines as a just in case.

      Theres a bit more to it than that. Such as built in safeties in the software side, but the bigger version we have been working on will do WAAAY more than this one, with features no one has ever put on a boost controller. It’s a big job. But it is doable. Timing cover needs to come off. Lower pan. But if you suffered an oil pump failure and loss of oil pressure, other parts inside the engine could have been damaged.

    @Kneedragon1962 Месяц назад

    About 5 minutes into this. There are a number of applications for a 'slipper clutch'. Cars are one, particularly for the launch off the line. Bikes are another ~ particularly for the downshift, so your high performance engine with high compression and lots of cam, little to no flywheel, mid-range to high capacity, doesn't compression lock your rear wheel, even if you rev-match the downshift. Race bikes today, tend to have a slipper clutch but also a computer controlled throttle, so you have the ECU add a little bit of throttle on the downshifts to control and moderate the engine braking. Getting that right is a major part of setting up your MotoGP bike, and it's worth well over a second a lap. One of the more interesting ones I have personal experience with, was the Aprilia Futura 1000, Italian V twin sports tourer. It had a slipper that was controlled by engine intake vacuum. You get on the throttle hard, there's no vacuum, and the clutch bites with the full strength, but when you're back shifting at mid ~ high rpm, there's a lot of intake vacuum, and it has a pneumatic servo thing that adds or subtracts clamping pressure because of intake vacuum. If there's a lot of vacuum, the clutch tends to slip, which is nice when you're having a big go. Like the Limited Slip Diff ~ there's more than one way to skin a cat. Torque converters often have a sprag clutch on the (what do you call it? The centre flow straightener.) It can turn freely in one direction, but it locks solid if you try and turn it the other way. Conceptually, it's a ratchet, but it doesn't work like a ratchet. I've seen bikes that employ that concept to the whole clutch basket. It locks solid for forward drive, but slips on over-run. Does make it next to impossible to bump-start the bike, though ~ I hope your starter works and your battery's not flat. Talk about sprag clucthes, I don't know if all bikes work this way, but many do. They have a sprag clutch on the starter, so it releases when the bike fires. A typical auto transmission has clutch packs, it has friction bands around the outside, it has a torque converter, and it may have other weird devices to control clutch action. If it has a 'lock-up converter' then it has one more clutch, to make it a direct drive through the converter. Then we get into the rich field of Limited Slip Diffs. There are all manner of open or shut centres, starting with Detroit Lockers, going through 2 pinion and 4 pinion clutch-pack difs, Torsen diffs, fluid coupling diffs .... the concept is easy to understand, but actually getting it to work right and not intrude on normal driving ~ that's tricky. Like setting up a slipper clutch for launching a car ~ simple in concept, but very tricky in real life. Go to Top Fuel Rails. When I was a lad (I'm 62) a Top Fueller had a completely mechanical setup. You were allowed (in the '70s) to use electronics and computer technology, to provide telemetry data ~ to have a log, with a graph, but the actuation of the clutch ~ along with every other control on the car ~ had to be entirely mechanical. That included things like centrifugal advance / retard on the ignition. I don't know when they changed the rules on that but boy ~ Howdy! She's a different game today. Which I guess is to be expected. In 1970 when I was 7 or 8 years old, a Top Fuel car ran a high 7 on a normal pass, a mid 7 on a winning pass, and a low 7 was getting close to world record time. Big Daddy Don Garlitz was still building Swamp-Rats, and some of them were embarrassing failures and some of them were world beaters. The first ever rear engine top fuel rail, as a Swamp Rat. Today, there are street cars running low sevens. My last bike, was capable of high nines ~ show room stock. That was a ZX14, No, it didn't have a slipper clutch. It had a completely conventional multi plate bike clutch, but it was very big and strong and beefy, and maybe the best motorcycle clutch I've ever experienced. There were some things I loved about that bike and some I was less impressed with, but the clutch was a work of divine inspiration. It was just brilliant. You could have driven a large heavy car around with that clutch, no problem at all. The fact ZX14s had a drag strip reputation ~ partly that was power and power / weight, partly it was long and low and heavy at the front, but largely it was down to the magnificent clutch. Best clutch ever built into a motorcycle, and not by a small margin.

    Looks good! Im planning to do the same when I pick up a z31! I currently have a boosted DE in my 350z, learned a few things and I figured maybe some of this info could be useful for you as well! My DE is currently an unopened 185k mile engine making just over 430whp 400tq on 93. these engines really need to be able to breathe, and don't like to be restricted. keep a good eye on exhaust pressure, I'm sure you know they don't like to see a lot of it. HR oil pumps don't fit on the DE, unless you mean a DE housing with HR gears. DE engines have more vibration at high RPM's that can lead to premature failure of the HR gears, the Rev-Up pump was designed with harder materials for that reason, unless you plan to put boundry gears in it and want to rev it to the moon lol. I don't know if you already picked one up but I would recommend a Dynosty billet main girdle to help reinforce the bottom end for said vibration mentioned above as well as a dampered crank pulley. I suspect you also might be running into a bottleneck with your intake piping and intercooler, I know you said the turbo was too small, good flowing setups should net over 400hp at 8-9psi. These DE engines really prefer their power range to be closer to the high side keeping torque under 3k low. Good Luck! hope it goes well for you! quite an inspiring build you're putting together!

    • @TheFastReligion
      @TheFastReligion Месяц назад

      The pump we got is the Z1 pump that's made to fix the de, we aren't going to rev it much more, just a few hundred more rpm. We definitely just ran into a turbo flow issue, it is very obvious on the dyno graph and the way the turbo responded. The piping and intercooler have plenty of flow left, the issue is 100% the turbocharger.

    Can't wait to see this thing rip up a track. Traction is the next big hurdle.

      We have massive drag slicks for it and have a traction control system to implement. Our clutch slipper is a massive help to. Its def a back-end car like all fwd cars.

      @@TheFastReligion 300 daily is my exact goal actually. have you looked into Renault mr18ddt compatibility or pretty much everything custom

    • @TheFastReligion
      @TheFastReligion Месяц назад

      The mr18ddt isnt much different than the mr16ddt. Which we build for the jukes quite often. Its also direct injection which means you cant just swap the a8 out with them due to the ecu and such being different. At the end of the day its cheaper to shell out the money to custom turbocharge the a8 and get to 300 whp than it is to swap in a mr16ddt and then have to make a custom turbo kit still to make the power. The stock turbo on the ddt engines isnt capable if good power. They are too small.

      They are not making anything near that to the wheels. They make about 217-220 to the wheels. Power collapses after 5500 rpm like the mr16 cars do

      No, if you watch our video explaining why the oem lines fail, you will see its a design issue, they need to be replaced.

      @@TheFastReligioni seen on the website that the line is for the V1. Will this work on a V2? My car is bogging occasionally through 2nd and 3rd and I'm thinking this is the culprit.

      An oil feed line wont cause intermittent bogging. Have it diagnosed.

      The issue persists is all mr16ddt’s. But the v2’s are less likely to have the issue as they changed the ID slightly. Years for the engines can be found on our website.

    I would love to know how you design the intake manifold.

    • @TheFastReligion
      @TheFastReligion Месяц назад

      We have made a lot of intake manifolds for these engines. This particular one we just tossed together using piping we had laying around and hand cut the manifold flange. Knowing the right runner lengths helps a bit, but on a car like this, as long as it gets the air from point a to point b, thats all that matters.
