The customer was driving , when he heard a weird noise from the engine and it started to smoke from exhaust so bad, he had to stop driving and call for recovery. Turbo was gone. Replaced turbo and it was all good.

I have this issue with my 2009 VW Passat TDI 125 kw DSG Wagon. It has a DQ250 6 speed gearbox. If you are manouvering using reverse multiple times it will eventually refuse to select reverse gear. I have found that I need to put the shift into park, turn the ignition off for about 10 seconds and the start the engine again. The DSG box will then select reverse. When it happens it makes clunking sounds as if its trying to select reverse and the stops. It only happens after I have put it into reverse a few times continuosly. E.G. when reversing a trailer up a long driveway and having to correct a few times. From what I have learnt it is a problem with the mechatronic unit which can be repaired or replaced separately from the gearbox. I have ensured the gear oil changes have been done within the distance/time requirements. I'll live with it for now as the DSG box performs perfectly otherwise and if I get an engine light on the dash I use my scan tool to remove it.
Can someone please explain how to get to the wire plugs from the fan as they are so high up in the dash and then plug in a downward way
good video thanks. Note I got into the fan casing and tried to spin it around and was stiff, however I got it moving and spent a bit of time loosening it, and I also gave it a good dw40'ing. Tried turning back on and seemed to have unblocked it. I continued DW40 and leaving it on, changing settings, turning on and off etc. It seemed perfectly fine now. I'll reply here if this doesn't last long. May have been as over summer and don't do long journeys in car, that had ceased up. Now over winter will use loads more.

Not 4 bolts but 6. Couldn't get the last two out. Thanks anyway and couldn't get resister out either.
If only the owner had used oven cleaner now and again to clean out the carbon build up!

I replaced blower motor. Couple of years ago and it's still working. But recently only works on fourth setting so I went to replace resistor and it works but I smelt burning lol
And it's red hot
Exactly the same situation for me. Maybe the newer cabin fan motors begin to sieze up after a while, just like the original, and require a higher current than the resistor can handle? Just guessing really

Low oil in gearbox had it on my Golf gt tdi dsg 6 speed … engine light popped up and done the exact same as shown in video … I plugged it in on my diagnostics and it shown me a code which I can’t remember now I’ve diagnosed the code and it was low oil topped up oil delete the code and car works as should …. Every garage I called straight away assumed it was mechatronics… maybe I got lucky but for sure change ur filters and oil and delete engine light code and see if it works than …. If not then u have to resort on a different option thanks for your time

Do you know if its possible to remove the turbo on the other side?. I need to take the secondary turbo off to have a look at a sticking solenoid/valve. I assume its possible to do it in the same way. Great video, thanks for sharing!

@@AliHussein-df3ke kind of you to get back. I suspect it's a mechatronics issue but I don't know and my car is old so I think I'll give that a change. Much appreciated 👍🏾

No,you have to drop the subframe and diff then you will have enough access to remove and change the turbo!
Would it help at all to remove the front diff? I replaced the air conditioning compressor recently and that was a real pain. The turbo looked pretty well packed in there. Great job with it either way.

2.7 only one turbo, i have one hand only so everything is hard, you can use a long rod with hook bent on the end to free the actuator
It is 6 not 4 bolts ! in the fan mount!! Only 4 if someone was working with it and didn't bother to put 2 extra on both sides of this fan.

no, just actuator, make on wire 3 or 4mm with a hook, take off heat shield and hook the actuator arm
Hey! Thanks for the informative video!I have a question about how you checked the power wires comming from the resitor: Do I need to take out the battery when working there ? Will I be hurt if I touch the wires ? Is any potential danger in working with the battery powering the whole system ? I am no electrician, just asking being my first time fixing someting at my AC.
Great video, just a question, you say you have to remove the studs? What do you mean by this, do you drill them out, and then replace them with a nut a bolt combination that you can tighten up from a side you can get at, or are you just leaving them off
Good question. Imagine you can insert from behind once the turbo is in position. You don't need the stud to be super tight in the turbo

Everything wears out in time.
The cause of the issue is GM not making reliable engine systems... I've had the turbo completely replaced, turbo housing included, since my turbo died because of low oil pressure. This was 2 years ago, yesterday i heard this sound again, I put 30.000km lasting long life engine oil in the car, that i change every 10.000km, i do this myself, so no tomfoolery of any shady mechanic involved (im not saying every mechanic is shady btw). So conclusion: GM designed a shitty engine system. No turbo should die after 2 years and 8 oil changes (so 80.000km).
