Excellent description of the 2021 and 2022 vintages in Washington. We had snow in our vineyard (WeatherEye Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA) twice in the month of April 2022. The last snow was on April 22nd. That is CRAZY. We lost primary buds on our Viognier and had some damage to our Syrah. This said, our 2022 wines are probably the best we have ever made. Our last day of harvest in 2022 was October 31st. Our latest ever. In 2021 (and also in 2024) our last day of harvest was October 15th. With 2021, 2022 and 2023 we have had three very good vintages in a row. Very different vintages as Eric explains but all are producing great wines. I think 2024 will also be good but it is a still a little early to know how good. Our Grenache Blanc grapes, Syrah and Cabernet seem off the charts on flavor and intensity so cautiously optimistic for some killer juice in 2024.
It really reminds me Cortona in Italy, the land of Syrah.
Great lil video. Super cool.
I try to avoid difficult vintages, especially wet ones. Let’s call them „mildew vintages“ because of exceptionally high usage of pesticides.
What about irrigation? Is it inevitable?
The Apennine's are to the east of Carmignano
I enjoyed. My wife and I had pleasure of going to Sanford Winery a couple years ago and enjoyed a tasting a bought a couple bottles. One of which we had just the other night. It was delicious. It was a 17’ La Ricanada (sp.)It’s more than we usually spend but man was it good.
Grazie Eric for your report.
😻😻😻
Too bad it cut off so soon! Very interesting!
👏👏👏
well done Eric!
Cerasuolo di Vittoria is not a DOC. It is, in fact, Sicily's only DOCG.
Great vintage synopsis Eric
😂
Bêtise
Thanks for sharing!
🤩
👏👏👏🍷
Two of the best people in and around Bordeaux, lovely interview.
Fantastico siete fantastici
Great guy. Actually both of them.
Bravo Vittore!!! dai tuoi vicini americani, Dennis e Betsy...
shitty accoustics, gentelmen
The only 2021 I bought is Les Carmes Haut Brion, other that that I am out. Having so many 2018,19,20s out there and at great prices why bother with 2021 that was clearly a bad almost terrible vintage? Lots of great wines from the 2020 vintage that are definitely priced correctly.
it would have been nice to see the wines listed makes it easier to cut & paste and find
Love this channel!!🍷🍷🍷
so what are the best ones for 2022?...or at least best bang for the buck?
I wasn't sure you worked like that. I really like it and I have noticed that your scores are very close which make me feel confident and I fell more certain regarding en primeur and so on. It's clear from your notes that you are both very qualified and experienced tasters
2022 is going to be an expensive vintage due to inflation and low volume. Consumers will find more value in 2019 and 2020 vintage.
It's extremely expensive. I'm happy I bought 2019 en primeur. It's payd so much less and it's a great vintage. 2022 might be a bit better but I doubt it will justify the vast increase in price
Looks like Rega P2 behind Neal. Isn´t it?
Josh Raynolds RIP.
thank you. what fun. great insight.
This is by far the best team of professional tasters today. Antonio has the expansive palate and passion of Parker without the penchant for overrating while Neil is a balancing force, skeptical, independent, and cerebral. Together, they have become my trusted Go-To for professional ratings.

Great interview. Thanks!
Antonio, you are right to blame the hypocrites who claim that tomorrow they will be virtuous but who, in the meantime, allow themselves all the turpitudes. However, there are today vintners who despise them even more. Namely, those who reduce their GHG emissions because they regenerate the life in the soils, plant trees, install photovoltaic panels, consume exclusively renewable electricity, take drastic measures to improve tractors fuel consumption, lower the weight of the bottles, use eco-friendly packaging but also protect the well-being and safety at work, strive to reduce the sulfur and copper quantities and use no other biocide, ban chemical additives in the cellar, (except sulfur and again with parsimony), encourages biodiversity, run a multinational and multiethnic staff and not content to have done all this are aware that there is still so much to do not only for the habitat as for the surrounding human community. Sustainability (I don't like the word) is not just visual; some winegrowers sincerely strive to preserve the environment. The consumer will undoubtedly endorse these endeavours if he is informed. Isn't the critic's raison d'être to help him separate the wheat from the chaff?
thank you Antonio and all the panel for the great session Wine is not complicated but yes it's complex and that's why we love it!!
Cried when I heard the news that Gallo purchased Pahlmeyer brand, 2 years ago. So many unbelievable memories of drinking the Proprietary Red over the last 15 years..
I watched the whole dang thing and it took a Beaujolais fan to another level. Really appreciated knowledgeable, in depth intimate conversation of the wine region way beyond the wines.
👏👏👏
Your discomfort at the possibility that he offended your Trump viewers makes it worth it.
Why would there be any discomfort? Ignorant T**** morons aren't watching these intelligent videos. No one to offend.
Vinous advance - now open for business!
Thanks for the insights...looks like a my decision to buy the 2019 Bordeaux futures was a good one. The prices seem very good plus the quality is high....
Bravissimi!!
This work is a tour de force
Thanks for this format, which allows the winemaker time to indulge in their own thoughts. I've seen short clips of Gerhard Kracher, but in this setting he seems so much more jovial and inviting... like his wines!
I call those meals “concoction night” I do those a lot when I have the no spend months and I quickly run out of food but still have 2 teenage boys and an 8yo gymnast daughter who needs to eat
