Wow! ... I've played cello for 20 and double-bass since about 35 years (as a professional) so I think I know what I'm talking about. The attempt to play pieces from the cello suites on the double bass is ambitious in itself from a technical point of view. I am truly impressed by how wonderfully the bassist in this video not only masters the technical hurdles and how elegantly, almost casually, she manages the many difficult arpeggios. But I would also like to explicitly emphasise the musical quality of the performance. In my opinion, the character of the piece as a whole was captured very well, phrasing, the way she builds suspense - the bassist has done a wonderful job with all of this, and it is a pleasure to listen to her. For me, the icing on the cake of this performance is the wonderful, velvety sound of her beautiful double bass, which she masterfully plays to its best advantage. A truly wonderful performance. Thank you for that.

This is a great piece! Such Independence of voices. I particularly like the spicatto technique about 4 minutes in and the pizzicato towards the end is outta this world! This is the ultimate audition piece!

Hello, nice lesson, very interesting and well explained. I have a question are you using EP solo strings ? How are they ? I use solo Permanent (with C extended Spirocore) I tune them down when I play in the orchestra and they still sound great. I wonder if using using synthetic core like EP(which are excellent), can give more nuances.
