Meet the Irish Family Continuing an Age-Old Tradition of Wool Weaving | Ireland Made with Love
Wool and weaving have been an integral part of Irish culture for centuries. Meet the Cushen family continuing this age-old tradition using historical techniques to weave wool the Irish way.
Six generations of this family have been crafting exceptional textiles in Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, since the 1700s, and their story continues to this day! They are operating on one of Ireland’s last vertical mills on a site that has stood since the 13th century. Using age-old techniques and machinery to carefully handcraft amazing products.

When I visited the Uffizi, the stone inlay works impressed me as much as the most famous paintings. It's nice to see that artists are still practicing these techniques.
I was lucky to enter their shop years a go to pick up a piece that is a great treasure!

So cool ,we're Americans and our family comes from the Deruta region and are still pottery makers (Sberna) there. Our whole family came over to Italy and my cousin got married there. When my cousin got married in Cortona we traveled over to Deruta and met family members that lived there still, and they gave us a great tour of their facility and how they make the pottery, what a beautiful area though, we loved it!

I loved Black Pudding when I visited Ireland. Being Cajun, it reminded me strongly of the Boudin Noir I had as a child. A black sausage using fresh, salted blood mixed with cooked rice and steamed fresh. Ireland certainly has a treasure there, no doubt.
