Does a rehab tech count if i get 500 hours shadowing in pt in out patient and inpatients
I am currently working as a LPTA now since 2005, before that I was a CNA since 1995. I’m looking for a career change… will I still need to take pre PA courses???
I just have a question, I have experience as a Patient Care Assistant in a long-term care setting and a hospital setting, would this count as PCE? I have been doing this experience for over 4 years before joining the military.
Thank you for the video. I am considering getting into being a medical scribe. This was helpful.
I am an EMT who is currently pursuing an AAS in paramedicine. In my second semester of paramedic school I really started entertaining the thought of PA school and have been researching and planning towards continuing my education on the PA route once I graduate next May. As far as patient hours are concerned, does it matter how many years it’s been since I have worked as an EMT? For example: If I worked as an EMT 10 years ago, do you think they would still accept that? I know it’s up to the schools and you can’t speak for them all, I just figured I would ask here first 🙂.
Tips on converting from Pre MD to Pre PA. I have been working as medical scribe in ER so I have around 500 hours in total
Definitely interested in PA.
How would i join as PA in abroad from India after bachelors degree in PA
So the grade should be A or B in bio, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology in the major that you choose to get the bachelor's degree right???
What major for undergrad is best or most common to be a PA?
It would be biology. PA schools ask for prerequisites that most biology major students have already taken to graduate. In my case I have a year left to graduate with a bachelors in biology, I made the decision to become a PA last year and realized that I have already completed 90% of the courses required.
Hi i know this is late but I'm a teen thinking about becoming an emergency medicine physician assistant, Do you recommend it, i would love some advice i don't know what type of doctor or nurse I want to become and im starting college at 16 which is next year 😢
how do people usually fulfill the pt contact hours and how long does it usually take to get a solid amount of hours?
There are many different roles such as EMT, medical assistant, physical therapy aide, CNA and more. Many schools require at least 1,000 hours but it’s recommended to get more usually. One year working full time is approximately 2,000 hours!
So should i start right now? Im a CCMA in my freshman year of undergrad, I can find a job as an MA over my next few summers, and try to work some during the school years too. Do you think it would be possible for me to go straight into PA school out of college? And how can I advance my career to maybe earn more money or be at a higher level once I start working as a PA for a while? Thank you for your responses!!@@AubrieJones
Would paragraph format all be necessary for the resume portion? Usually it’s bullet points
Resume or CASPA experience descriptions? If it’s a resume, bullet points are good. If it’s a CASPA experience description, either bullet points or paragraph form is okay but I personally recommend paragraph form!
Hii mam I am physician assistant student from India
how do you get hours ? do you need to get another certificate of some sort to be say a medical assistant to get those hours
There are EMT and CNA classes that you can take. There are other ways to get your clinicals but these are the most common ways
hello dear, can I connect with you? In need to ask some questions
I’ve been an EMT for the last decade. Would I have to get more pt contact time between undergrad and PA school? I’ve got hundreds if not thousands of hours of pt contact hours.
No it should be good enough
Prerequisite are available as online course??
Prerequisite classes can be online however its worth noting that most programs dont accept online labs.
I want to go to school for this so bad but I feel so nervous… like I’m not smart enough to get through almost five years of schooling. I’m registering for classes soon and am extremely nervous. I’m older already have two special needs kids and turned my life around for the better.
you can do it! if you truly think it's something you really want to do, then i have no doubt you can accomplish it.
you’re already doing it!! 👏🏽
can PCE be volunteer?
Please any way to contact you?
Hi Aubrey! I appreciate you making time to share your experience with us. I have a couple of questions though, maybe you’ve answered before but have you ever doubted your choice to become a PA? Have you ever felt that maybe it wasn’t for you? I’m currently a CNA in a LTC/Rehab and it’s really discouraging me to enter the healthcare field and become a PA. It’s really depressing shadowing my CNA’s. At times it does feel rewarding when the residents are clearly thankful for our help but it’s still really depressing work. Any advice? Thank you :)))!
Hi there! 😊 To be honest, being a CNA is NOTHING, and I repeat, NOTHING like being a PA. Being a CNA was the most challenging role I’ve ever had and I’m so glad I pushed through because that role doesn’t adequately show you what it will be like to be a provider.
I did Bsc physician assistant in India, can i get in for Msc PA abroad ??
thank you for including a full example! I've been having such a difficult time trying to make my experiences concise but also give a thorough explanation.
After bsc nursing in india is it possible to do msc PA Abroad
i think so i am going for the same course but anything in healthcare might work just check on the subjects your choosing
A bachelor degree in around 4 years, get me the MD, not the PA…..
I’m confused by what you mean by this comment?
Im just graduating high school trying to get into a medical assistant program. What should i be expecting and any tips on getting to that PA level quick and easy. I know it wont come easy but just the things i should know or can use to my advantage?
There’s an online MA program through HealthCareer Certs that helps expedite things! Getting into PA school won’t be quick or easy but I would get started with patient care as soon as you can, starting shadowing and volunteering too when you feel comfortable!
Could you do a video on what classes in community colleges are needed!? I have been to my counselor multiple times and they keep signing me up for classes I never needed!
what is your speacilty?
I’m doing BSC in surgical Technology after this I want to Go Masters in Physician Assistant, whats the criteria and fees in your state and your College Name. I Want details please
Don’t waste time doing surg tech go straight into PA
@@autumnonpurpose it’s final year now
And now you’re a PA-C!!! Time flies!
Hi Aubrie, if my cycle isn't opened yet, can I still ask for a letter of rec and request an evaluation through the cycle that is in caspa now? or do I have to wait until caspa opens with the cycle that i want to apply to? I plan to apply when caspa opens in April 28th.
Hi there! You will have to wait until the CASPA cycle opens for the 2023-2024 cycle to request the letters!
@@AubrieJones thank you!
I start PA school in less than 3 months and I’m super excited for this journey as well!!
I just finished my first rough draft of my personal statement, any chance you’d be willing to look at it and give me feedback?
I have a link in my bio on Instagram to sign up for my editing service! 😊
Hi Aubrie!! Did you have roommates while you were in PA school?
Yes! I still do haha. I had 3 roommates!
@@AubrieJones Thank you for replying! :) I’m trying to figure out if I should have roommates or live alone when I get into PA school.
@@angelicapayan9693 of course! And although I ideally would love to live alone, it just makes sense financially to have roommates. It’s saves SO much money 😅
Don’t forget that there are prerequisite courses for PA school. The most necessary are Bio, MicroBio, Chem, Anatomy, Physiology, Stats and/or Calc, as well as Humanities courses. Depending on the school, there will be other prerequisites like Genetics, BioChem, Organic Chem, and Physics.
Yes!! And that would an additional two years or so of post undergrad school work in order to even apply for PA school. I’m surprised she didn’t mention this as it is the most important component of the whole application process.
@@IslemTav they asked how many years of schooling is required, not how many years does it take total 😊 I DID mention that you also have to get a significant amount of hours! And if you check out any of my other videos, I talk about how long it takes to get hours and how to get them!! 😌
Of course :-) they asked how long the schooling process is, not what prerequisites are required. I go in-depth about that in other videos!
Can I copy whatever I said about my experiences in the personal statement to the CASPA application? Or should be rephrased?
It should be completely new! You shouldn’t include the same thing in your experience description and your personal statement. Your PS should be a place to describe your experiences way more than you could in your descriptions.
Congratulations 👏 🎊 💐 you are an inspiration ❤️ thank you for sharing your journey
What if you where full time then went back to school so dropped to part time
what if a person went through the compressed nursing program which is for 2 years ,does the person have the chance to apply or accepted for PA? ANYONE WITH IDEAS PLS ANSWER.
Yes, as long as you have the prerequisites done and have a bachelor's level of a degree.
I literally want to cry for you. CONGRATULATIONS!
On my way there soon, doing my last semester of prerequisite classes and just did my EMT certification to get my direct patient care hours.
How long were the pre reqs?
Can you please recommend some community colleges to finish PA pre-req
Find a community college near you that offer those classes….
I had a friend tell me not to become a nurse practitioner but to become a PA-how do you have medical experience when you need degree’s to do the work?
You don't need degrees to work. You can get a job as a medical scribes and in some states medical assistants and get on the job training, from which you can gain clinical experience.
@@yuliofont271 thank you for the info, it will help me a lot
@Pyrs187 good luck 👍
There are also simple certificates like CNA which takes weeks, phlebotomy which takes weeks, ecg tech, PCT which is about one semesters time, etc :)
Congratulations!! I have watched you since you started ur journey at MBKU 💛 I am at USC starting clinicals nxt month, I was wondering if you have any advice how to study for the EORs
Thank you so much! 🥺 Good luck on clinicals! I personally would make a chart using the PAEA EOR blueprints and then use Rosh Review for questions!
@@AubrieJones thank you for the response! 💛 I was planning making charts as well but what materials did u pull from when u made ur charts??
I used my school lectures, PANCE Prep Pearls and SmartyPANCE mostly!
Oh my, congratulations!!! I came to check on how you were doing, so lovely to see you passed!
Thank you so much!! 😌
Crazy how school is more about memory rather than actually knowing things... it’s weird that this type of thing is what makes people “successful”... weird
In a way, it is a lot of memorization! But a lot of it is really critical thinking and having to apply knowledge to larger problems that don’t present themselves as what they truly are. You can have people that memorize thousands of facts but don’t have common sense or confidence to do certain things whereas someone may not memorize as much information but is willing to try new ways and discover great things. School is school - of course they’re trying to teach you information so you remember it.
any bachelor outside of medical field is fine?
Yes! As long as you complete the prerequisites required!
Congratulations! Also this is very off-topic but you remind me a lot of the actress Deborah Ann Woll
Thank you! And haha, I’ve actually gotten that a lot since being on social media more!
I don’t know if I see it haha
27 months have flown by! Congratulations!!!
They really have! Thank you so much! 😊
