The two offer quite different styles of riding. The S1000XR is a true sport touring motorcycle with emphasis on sport. The R1250GSA offers a more relaxed ride when you want it, more comfort and the ability to go anywhere (within your skill level). Here are my experience with both and maybe I’ll help you make the right choice of what type of riding you want the most. For me, I just can’t make up...

Crowded Hampton Beach New Hampshire in April, too much traffic, URRRGGG!!!
what brand are the bar end mirrors and how did they manage to keep the handguards?
hello, I bought the below mirrors and the hand guards stayed on using the mirror hardware. the configuration didn’t look exactly how I’d like it but it works. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PP6CB73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
@@CrayzJohnny Hey, thanks a lot for your answer, so if i understood correctly, it doesn't need any adapter or converter to keep the handguards. they mirrors can be installed as they were bought?
Need to get the snow mound over the embankment or you will lose ground over time
Agreed. I've raised the blade up and went over the mound a couple days later. Thanks for your feedback!
I was looking at this bike I currently own a street glide but looking for a change. I read that the K1600GTL is more stable have you ridden that bike. Based off my research I won’t buy the B variant
I think you would be better off with the gtl. I am thinking I'd like the r1250rt better myself.
What an awesome road ripped through there on my GS yesterday Bear Notch too 👌 Thanks
Love the whole area, I would do that ride everyday if I could!
This sounds more like the setup I think I'd want. I'm really excited tohear this in person. I don't want a stupid loud system but I want it louder than the stock with a cat. Do you wear earplugs? My MT09 with a yoshi race exhaust hurt my ears without ear plugs and I ended up needing a DB killer.
No ear plugs are required. When I did use the GP shorty, that did hurt my ears, but not with this setup
Hey man. Great video! I just picked up a 2022 s1000r and I also live in NH! I am looking at exhaust options. Im using the mpackage akra ti what it comes with and the stock headers. I dont want a super loud bike but I want some sound to it. Would be cool to meet up so I could hear what a full system sounds like. Did you swap the gpshorty off? Or you running it
I now have a 2023 s1krr m package with full titanium headers and running the stock can. It sounds sweet! Let me know if you want to meet up to hear it.
@@CrayzJohnny I very much do! I have the mpackage as well. I'm curious what it sounds like with the stock can. Where are you out of?

I just orders the 23 inch
Let me know what you think after a test ride.
Did you get the 20' or the 23?
I got the shorter one, 20"
How tall are you? Do you recommend the windshield?
well that is a trick question for me, I'm 6' tall but I have long legs and a short torso. The windshield helped a little but not as much as I would of hoped. I do recommend the windshield but it did not completely solve the issue of buffeting and pushing my head forward from the back at higher highway speeds. I wish I had the taller windshield to see if that made a difference at all.
@@CrayzJohnny thanks for replying 👍
yo i subbed from motojitsu, just because you got this bike. more vids bro! and a second audio recorder for the exhaust
Thanks for the support bud and that is my plan! Have a great day!
I just need to get past this winter then vids will start again
Has the resonator been taken out as that sounds loud on the mic do my head in! I have. XR with the Akrapovic and that sounds way louder. I guess the headers make a difference
It is the stock akrapovic muffler but the headers are full akrapovic steal with no catalytic converter. It definitely is louder than stock, but not obnoxious
Thank you for video wife and i are looking at a 2018 sportsman 570 comes with plow with 212 miles on it for 4 grand just wanted to see how it would handle plowing and by looks of things it does pretty well appreciate the video buddy
Thanks for stopping by bud! I'm still waiting to find out how it would do in 2 feet of heavy snow. But, it makes things so much more fun at least. Hope all is well, have a great week.
Just put the 66" on my new Polaris XP 1000 S. Works great, but I need a big snow!
You will not be disappointed when it snows more for sure! Plus, doesn't it add more fun to the snow removal?!?! Thanks for stopping by bud! Have a great day
I just spent 1 1/2 hrs plowing the lake. About 6 inches out there, no problem, no chains. We have some ice bikes that run out there, I make the track.@@CrayzJohnny

the ride will be quick, just not sure you'll have it back real quick. lol!!
I ride a cheap china 😢 bike worth 800 dolars smithing wrong with exhaust it pops like a gun smtimes 😂😂😂
Hope I can buy a better one soon tho
Bro, I think your bike is super nice. So, I have a question bugging me that I would appreciate your honest opinion on. >> Is there any REAL advantage of having the rear view mirrors on the bars ends (2:08), vs. the factory location? If you feel there is, can you share what those advantages are? Thanks in advance. -🍀
Hey bud, thanks for stopping by and hope all is well with you and the fam. In regards to the bar end mirrors. it is just a preference thing, no real advantage. I just kind of dislike the larger stock mirrors even though they supply great vision to what is behind me, but no, no advantage other than preference for looks over function. The new build I am working on with a 2023 S1000RR, Rizoma mirrors that are pretty much useless but I still like the looks better. lol
@@CrayzJohnny Thank you my dude 👍🏽. Stay safe. -🎄
Is it stupid loud even with the Akra muffler?
No, It's loud, my sales guy heard the bike inside the building but compared to the stupid loud akra gp shorty, I'd take this any day.
@@CrayzJohnnyThanks! I was planning to do the same to my s1000r. I wanted more exhaust growl and some loudness but not stupid loud. I find the stock header to be too quiet. Almost got hit already by stupid drivers not looking.
No problem bud, glad to give my opinion when I can. I think you'll be happy with the results.
To give you an idea for an s1000r, I did the same for mine: ruclips.net/video/BrdB-fK01Bw/видео.html

I don't have this bike... But i like this bike... Performance, spec, and speed i like that.... I hope one day i will get this bike...
@zam2052 it's one of the best looking bikes, IMO of course. Although, you have to do some work to it before it gets to its full potential. As stock, below 8k rpm, it feels like a 600cc. The bike is very restricted out of the box. Still is fun, but a lot more fun if you get it tuned.
Bmw is the Way to go. Smooth and so powerful!👍😃 Is there even any serious competition…??? BMW K1600 GTL

Time to pull off that GPS mount bar. I did it to my 23 M package XR and could not be happier.
Yes bud. I agree but I saw someone use it as a bottle holder! Lol
@@CrayzJohnny LoL. It just cleans up the front so nicely. Just rolled over 3000 miles on mine since June 30. Everything is done on the bike except for a Bren stage3/E85 tune. Love it so far.
You did the right thing😊
Hi Champ dose the mirror interfere with your wrists when you turn / ride
What's up bro?! For how I ride, no track days, so no, they did not interfere. Although, I'd just take these off on the track, which is pretty easy to do. Hope I answered your question.
100% champ thank you
Looks like you also rent a storage unit like me. Do you live in an apartment too?
Yup, after my divorce I moved all my toys to the storage unit until I find a more permanent place, with a garage that is!
@@CrayzJohnny Sorry if it's too personal but judging by how the court system works, did you happen to have home before this and she ended up taking it?
We sold our home before filing for divorce proceedings. So, it was easy to finalize the divorce. It was an amicable for the most part
Divorce is never easy, no matter how you look at it. I didn't talk about it on my channel, especially during the whole process because it's such a downer.
I ride that road through New Boston regularly. Great turns along the river after New Boston

Hey dude… Im literally about to pick mine up next week.. Need a good phone mount.. Im trying to find Quadlock options… which one are you using?? Thanks
I have the optional wireless charging mount. I use the bar mount kit without a spacer which fits the GSA bars perfectly.
Can you please send link of the mount or any adapters you use!! Im literally having dealer get rid of the gps mount and bracket before i leave lol I literally hate the look of it..
www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-motorcycle/products/motorcycle-mount?variant=39621088592 I’m just not sure what type of phone you have. there is a drop-down for the charging unit.
Biker, did you feel any vibrations in the handlebars/pegs/seat at high speed ?
yes I did, mostly in the handlebars. reminds me of my old gsxr-750. rumor has it, the vibration isn’t as bad as the gen 1.
@@CrayzJohnny thanks buddy. I was trying to decide if I would get the XR or the Hayabusa being that I'm 6'3" tall. I don't like vibrations in the handlebars and the 2023 busa has ZERO....
I would have to agree with you on that, I am 6' tall and this vibration finally got to me. Now, full disclosure, I do not remember what the vibration was like before I put on the full akrapovic headers and exhaust including a brentune. I would expect the brentune to smooth it out a bit but I do not remember what the vibration was like with the CAT still on the bike.
Love that bike. It's definitely on my shortlist. I think I'll keep my exhaust stock however. That muffler is too much. 😂
Yup, I did install a dB killer, helped a lot!
After watching this video I understand why only 28 people clicked like on it.... 😐
And yet you helped my ratings and interacted with my content. There is never bad publicity. 😏🤣 I'm just a small RUclipsr, don't get paid for this and do it for fun. Don't like the video, keep scrolling, I don't give af.
34 likes now, and growing all because of you, so thanks for making my video more popular. 🤣😁🤪
10 extra hp my blk ass!! I bet you add 3 extra inches to your cck too!!
and I’m still bigger than you, dick. couldn’t just stfu could you? had to add your 2” right? might want to go do some research before you start blowing….
the akra header and muffler add at least 7 more HP, you’d know that if you could read a chart, idiot. and I said 10. not like 50. why you bring drama? might want to put your big boy pants on and take your tampon out
and the brentune brings the stock HP to 160 with the stock headers. man, some of you idiots just piss me off
quoted from external source, so eat sh1t: According to Bren Tuning, tuned results for the Akra header and end can as a system, results in an improvement of 8 - 10 HP. That would be maybe 10 HP at red line of course. A modest but not entirely insignificant improvement (6%). The Akra header without the Akra end can doesn’t necessarily see that improvement.
friggin troll, nothing left to say huh big guy? thought so, b1tch.
Sweet bike. Been drooling over one of theae for a while now lol
Thanks bro! Let me know if you pick one up!
I cannot believe how much Harley buyers spend on (over and above already inflated HD prices) suspension, exhaust, seat, handle bars, head lights plus the performance upgrades. And then they try to justify it like they have a superior bike. They just don't know what else is out there.
it is pretty ridiculous how much we have to spend on a Harley to get it to where we actually like it. I think it’s more of the nostalgia of owning a Harley compared to actually liking what they buy, nobody really wants a 850lbs piece of metal to drag around. I do miss my Harley road glide only because I put so much work into it. thanks for stopping by bud, hope all is well with you and the fam. ✌️
@@CrayzJohnny Great content.
R1250gs is a unicorn bike
that is one way to look at it, I guess. lol
Not really. Most people cannot ride the 1250 off-road like hyped for. Plus the suspension is pretty terrible off-road with that small front tire. If you're going to buy a GSA for touring, just get a full on touring bike, like a Goldwing. Unless you want a Starbucks crawler to show off your expensive ADV wear.
@@chrislovell7448 true, i always go offroad with my GS, but i broke many parts 😅, this bike is heavy for offroading.. however, i think its the best bike for touring and light adventure
Hello my friend. You have these two extraordinary bikes. And is difficult to choose between the two. I love the sporty profile of the XR but I also understand that we value the additional comfort of the GSA. I don’t usually go much on off-road trails, so I exchanged the GS for the RT (that has the same engine as you know but tuned differently). The XR is a bike that you can perfectly ride with two up but I enjoyed more to ride it solo. The GSA or the RT are genuine mile munchers and properly projected as bikes for the pilot and a passenger ( or pillion, more correctly said). The nice thing about the BMW S 1000 XR, is that you can have a sports bike that allows to do some long hours in the saddle, like touring with it. You have the panniers, so there is no need for a backpack, and so, this machine is pretty versatile as I see it. It’s a stunning beautiful bike and you still can do track days with it! With the Pack M version that I think is the one you got, the chain doesn’t need regular lubricant…what a luxury! Man, if you like to do some off-road trails, with these two bikes you have the best that we can have as motorcyclists. They are very reliable machines and the Service is normally very professional. So, we can ride every bike but this BMW are the ones that deserve your investment 👌🏻
hi bud, completely agree with you 💯. I hope to find some dirt roads here in New Hampshire and I just heard Vermont (USA) has some great trails for the gsa. The RT must be a fast bike, especially off the line and getting speed!? it’s smaller and probably lighter than the gsa, so that’s is a good combination and I don’t blame you for switching over from the gsa to the RT. thanks for stopping by bud, get to hear from you and hope all is well. as always, ride safe!
@@CrayzJohnny thank you for welcoming me to your channel. Bring more content about your rides and it will be a pleasure to watch and cooperate with your work. The RT has different scope. It’s a big bike with 280 kgs of weight dry but due to its touring vocation is prepared to provide traveling long distances at high paces and the fuel consumption is very reasonable for the comfort and secure ride that it offers. I find it so reliable as the GS or the GSA. It has a superior aerodynamic design that allows you and the pillion to feel really protected and safe doing long mileage on it. At the same time I use the bike for commuting between my house and my working place, that is a daily ride of 40 miles each way. The two panniers and the top case, provide enough space to carry everything I need and that is important if we want to use it often, on working days and not only on weekends, just riding it for fun. It’s a great overall bike. Thanks once more, and ride safe yourself too ✌️✌️
I’m planning on getting more videos out on the XR and also the GSA. we have a bike week coming within the next couple weeks, it is the oldest bike week on the country and it is having an 100th year anniversary. should be a great turnout this year, compared to previous. talk soon bro, have a great week.
Cost me an additional $23,000.00 CAD to bump my Softail up to 116hp/136tq. The bike itself cost me $19,000.00 CAD new in 2014. I love it (now) but I wouldn’t buy another. I’m looking at the K1600 and Goldwing for my trip-bike. I’ll keep my Fatboy for a bar-hopper.
Exactly, and after riding the k1600b for more than just a test ride, I'd go with the goldwing. Better wind protection, better stability, and comfort. The k1600b is nice but not as stable at higher speeds, there is also a "backdraft" and I found at highway speeds the air flows behind you and pushes your head forward. That was a weird feeling. Thanks for stopping by!
@@CrayzJohnnythat happens with almost every large electric windshield. The same happens with my sport tourer a Triumph Trophy. I find I get it to a point and don’t put the electric windshield any higher.

I agree completely!
Brotha... why aren't you riding that gorgeous bike of yours? Also.... how is your section of the country feeling about President Biden these days? out here in Seattle, WA, we like Maryanne Williamson for president. President biden is kind of past his prime... in my humble opinion. Watch out for President Trump, too.....he'll get back n the oval office before biden does that for sure.
yo bro, how are you? hope all is well with you and fam/friends. I have been riding, but the rides have been boring and not worth posting them on here. Plus with winter, I can’t expand my travel much on the bike. The weather has finally started getting nicer around here this week. I can say I just dropped off the bike for its 600 mile break in yesterday including the unlock, so a video of the brentune and how it runs/rides will be next for sure! I’d rather not talk politics on here, we both know how people get so offended around here now a days. Although, my opinion doesn’t differ much from yours.
Nice video. I have a 2021 XR ice grey color and I love mine. I had a puig sport screen on my bike and I loved the look but not really much protection from the elements. I switched to a Wunderlich Marathon touring screen and I like the ride much better. More relaxing ride and lots more wind protection. I know puig has a touring screen as well which I'm sure would be good but I only live about 45 mins from Wunderlich USA so I just walked in and walked out with the screen. Couldn't help myself. 😂😊 Subscribed!
Hey bro, thanks for the support! I'm going to have to check out that wunderlich screen, maybe it's better than mine? Thanks for the tip! Ride safe!
Nice ride 👍I also have a xr and the puig screen is it good? Greetings ✌️
hi bud, thanks for stopping by. the screen is good for those colder rides and takes care of more buffeting. I switch back and forward from this and a sport screen depending on outside air temperature. hot summer days, I’m going to want more air. hope all is well!
@@CrayzJohnny Everything ok here. I have 2 oem screens and puig sport screen. I tried the mra vario touring screen but don't work for me. Maybe i will try the puig touring screen. Thanks for your answer greetings ✌️😉
Great, honest video. I’ve been considering one of these for the last 6 months, and I think I may finally pull the trigger this week. One question, though: I have read a fair amount on forums, and seen other YT videos where highway “weave” or “wobble” is a thing. Have you experienced any high speed stability issues on this bike?
I've actually already traded in my k1600b and the reasons why are because of the wobble and also because there is a back draft that pushes my head forward about say 85mph. Even with an after market windshield, things did not improve. I now have a R1250GS adventure and is such a better bike if you don't mind the height, there is a low suspension option as well.
Also, I can ride with no hands on the r1250gsa the k1600b is not as smooth and stable, you always have to adjust at highway speed unlike the r1250gsa
I came off of a 1250 RT sport and purchased a 2023 K1600B, 719 option-midnight dust and I absolutely love it! Super comfortable, handles great and very quick! Over 2000 miles on it, mainly highway cruising and highly recommend this bike. Added Remus exhaust, stock windshield and stock everything else and again, I absolutely love the bike!
@@BadJamnAre you still enjoying your K1600b? Any issues to report? You never experienced the wobble or weave on the highway?
I have your bike also stock version
It's an awesome bike, I can't believe I didn't consider it before. It takes care of all my needs instead of having two different bikes.
Hard to believe BMW would create this bike with a poor sound system; can you elaborate as to what it is about the sound system you think is lacking? TY
sound system is lacking everything, sad to say. two speakers, no sound quality and I’d rather use my helmet Bluetooth communications to listen to the music instead of listening through the stock speakers. I’m not sure if you can upgrade the sound system with a third party product but anything would be better than this.
@@CrayzJohnny My first thought was to go with a Road Glide; however, I am not too happy about the inferior engineering HD still offers; not to mention the fact that it takes thousands to get their stock bike just right with aftermarket upgrades. That's why I started considering the K 1600 B; the lack of sound quality that you and a number of other RUclipsr's have reported is enough for me to hesitate on buying this bike. Very disappointed that BMW would do this. Unacceptable.
there are other things I’m not a fan of this bike as well. one is the wind buffeting, the air actually pushes my head forward at 70+mph. the bike feels unstable above 80mph, similar to my road glide. now, if I had the choice, I’d still get another road glide compared to the k1600. I completely agree with you in regard to performance and the Harley you have to invest so much to get so little, but, the road glide has little buffeting and performance options are there at least. the only other bike I would consider is maybe a gold wing. my buddy owns one and he says it is the best for touring.
@@CrayzJohnny I appreciate all of your feedback about the BMW; if it were me, i would be very disappointed w/ that bike given all of the issues you mentioned. I test rode the the R 18 B b/c they didn't have any K bikes in stock. Despite the R 18 B being an attractive bike, it's possibly the worst motorcycle I have ever ridden. The boxer motor was absolutely horrible the way it made the bike shake side to side; the sound was like a little toy, the performance was severely lacking and the shifter peg placement rendered my foot unable to shift comfortably (something other RUclipsr's have complained about). I think I will stay away from BMW baggers for now. The Goldwing is a fantastic bike for touring, just a bit sedate.
I appreciate you bro, thanks for stopping by. I do now own an S1000xr, this takes care of my sportbike and touring requirements and no buffeting. it does remind me of the r1250gsa, but I do not go off road so the s1000xr was best for me.
Nice video! I have a 23 XR (pretty excited); can you share where you got your mirrors?
Hi bud, thanks for stopping by. these mirrors work really good for the price and I found them on Amazon. I had to get the optional bar end adapters to mount the mirrors. if you need the info on the bar end adapters, let me know. oh and these look similar to the billet mirrors you can get from BMW. www.amazon.com/dp/B08PP6CB73?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
loving those color coordinated panniers, brother. is that the dark smoke puig touring screen or just lite tint? I own a 2022 triple blk xr. I'm from philly but live n Seattle these days....refs cheated the eagles n the superbowl. 🏈 I also have the puig short windshield & and want to get the puig touring size screen...looks like you are definitely 👀 looking thru it. I ride at nite sometimes, so maybe the tall dark smoke puig screen is not a good idea, perhaps just the lite smoke.
Thanks for stopping by bro, much appreciated! I bought the light smoke touring windshield just in case of night riding, I already bought a shorter one that gives me a little more protection than stock sport windshield but less protection than this one. This gives me a couple more options. Yes, eagles got ripped off for sure! Ride safe bro, hope your able to get on the road more than I am right now. Piece!
Schneide es wenigstens mit der Software von Insta360 🤦♂
Cut it? What do you mean? This is from the software of the insta360. I wanted to show the whole effect. What should I have done differently?
@@CrayzJohnny There is a program from Intsta360 with which you can cut such clips. It sucks the way it is now.
can’t please everyone I guess. thanks for your feedback

Does the header affects your factory warranty issue?
I never heard of any issue with warranty and installing the Akrapovic headers. my dealer installs them all the time and never advised it would void the warranty. is that what you heard? if you asked about the brentune and warranty issues, that would be a different answer.
Thanks,Do you have the malfunction code on the bike after change header? How do you resolve it?
I didn’t get a malfunction after switching out the exhaust, I also just removed the rear servo.
Nice!! Show your K1600!!!!!
