Cabela's Medium Weight Wool Boot Socks Are A Must Buy For Waterfowlers!
I will say that in our marsh the ducks are responding really well to the decoys. Great video as always buddy, can’t wait for that good cold front next week to bring in more ducks.
Another banger! Loving the content this season, Jacob.
Appreciate it it man. Thanks for the support!
I’m jealous, buddy. I haven’t had a good hunt yet. I’m confident I will, though.🦆🦆🦆🙏 enjoyed the video man!!
It's already tough buddy. Pressure on public moved the birds all over this week. You almost have to hunt daily to stay on them. Hopefully we get some cold weather and people give up on it early. Lol
You guys seem like pretty good hunters not real big show offs or advertising for everything ! I like that every hunt is not a barn burner ! But you guys had a decent hunt ! I subscribed, will be watching future videos keep up the good videos !
We are blue collar guys that love the sport and traditions that go along. We public hunt 99% of the time. It's definitely not limits all the time. We keep it real. We appreciate you taking the time to watch. It's me and my sons. Thank you for subscribing and best of luck this season
Stoned
That Bismuth is bad stuff boy!
The limit is 7
Limit here in Louisiana is 6 per person
Great video my friend!
Thanks man. Appreciate that.
Enjoyed the video. Me and my daughter went Saturday and Sunday the water was a record high for us.
Thank you Mark. Appreciate you taking time to watch. Water is definitely not helping, but that's the game we play as waterfowl hunters. Lol. Glad you and your daughter got to spend time together. Good luck this season
New model is gadwall magnum
Appreciate that. Good to know. Good luck this season
You aren’t lying about the water being high for opener, I hunt the reggio/hopedale area and it was easily 3-4ft higher than it normally is.
It came up quite a bit over the last few weeks. Submerged alot of the vegetation the birds were keying in on as a food source. Just makes it a little tougher. Thanks for dropping a comment. Best of luck this season
@ I’ve been hearing good news pretty much all this week so far, despite the nasty weather the birds are still pushing south surprisingly gonna get a lil push of birds this weekened then next weekend is gonna get crazy
@evandoucet8087 I sure hope we get that cold weather that they're talking about possibly next week. It's surely would help. We need some really cool weather to start hitting the Dakotas and push those birds all out of Canada down to FlyAway
@ I was suprised at the amount of birds we saw last saturday, probably saw around 500 or so birds that being between teal divers and big ducks
@evandoucet8087 we were holding quite a bit in the marshes the last several weeks. We had been scouting and seeing good numbers of teal and Gadwall where we were. People banged on them good on Saturday and they moved out quickly. Still had some of course, but not nearly the numbers on Monday that we had been seeing.
Have yall ever hunted the marshes by Bayou Bienvenue near lake bourne?
No sir. Heard of it, but not familiar with it
Love those saltwater marsh greys!! What time did they slow down flying? Enjoyed it buddy!
It was more of a late morning shoot. Not a lot of action at legal shooting time. We had to grind it out and wait it out
You pumped that video out quick! Looked like a good time. Good shooting guys. 👍
Let's just say it was a slow day at work. LOL I try to keep it as current as possible throughout the season
What area were you hunting?
We were in the Southeastern saltwater marshes of Louisiana
Good looking spot
Thank you. Beautiful scenery for sure. Best of luck to you this season
If I had to choose between the two, it will always be soft calling and sparingly-- just on the corners--almost a whine. I like a call that will do both but my goal every morning is to be in an area where Ducks are already looking for a place to land. Five mile high Ducks are a tough proposition, especially on Public Land. Some folks start calling or tolling at 10 minutes before legal. I like to see what the Ducks are doing first. If they are vocal, I know they are new Ducks. Old Ducks will come in on you and not make a sound. If people set up all over you and are wailing on their caller, put your decoys under the trees and just chatter and quack on the corners.
I couldn't agree more! You seem to think like I do when it comes to our strategies and techniques. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your comments and good luck this season!
Nice duck!
Thanks!

Devin Singleton of Singleton Game Calls in Bernice, LA is making an easy-to-blow cut-down call that sounds and handles just like the old modified Olt keyhole Duck calls we grew up on in South Arkansas. Once all my Olts finally cracked, I gave up on trying to find a replacement until I found the Singleton Original.
That's good to know. I have heard great things about Singleton
It’s time for those of us in Arkansas and y’all down in Louisianne to have that tough conversation. So much is at play that we cannot control. The only thing we can control is pressure. A 60-day Duck season is no longer justified in Arkansas or Louisiana. I cannot say whether hunting contributes to overall Duck mortality. Hey, it many not. What Ducks we do get should be allowed to pair up, rest up and feed up at the end of the season. All Duck hunters should be out of the woods and off the rice fields by the first Sunday of the last week of January---if not sooner. Arkansas will have hunters out until February 9. That is just wrong. The blame should be focused on our state game and fish agencies and not DU or Delta. If you agree with me, keep saying it. Our Grandaddys and Daddys sacrificed for us. It is time for the state agencies to put more emphasis on the resource instead of the revenue.
@Ange-qs8kq you make very valid points
🤣 this is what happens when you hunt with the king
😂 absolutely
If we get one duck per call now in Louisiana, we are doing pretty good lol.
😂 some days, I agree.
Great video, I really appreciate the point you made about the warranty. For me as someone who hunts 35+ times a year and has had waders fail in the middle of season for the last three seasons, that is definitely something that will influence my decision in picking up my next pair of waders. I've tried all types of waders and eventually they all failed me. Having that warranty will save me money in the long run and keep me dry in the blind.
Glad you enjoyed the video and that it helped. Best of luck this season!

The frog one is awesome 😎
That One did come out great!
What size was the boat besides 20ft was it a 2054? Do you happen to know the weight and speed he was able to get on that size of a boat?
It's a 20x50. Top speed with a 40hp GatorTail 31-33 mph
@ that’s pretty impressive!!
@@dannyneal9713 it's my buddy who owns the company. Builds a really nice boat. Yeah that boat performs well
@ I have a 2054 ProDrive and get 25/27 with 2 adults and 2 kids
@@dannyneal9713 ok. Where you located?
1) lighter gun 2) less recoil Trying to justify needing a 12 for higher pellet counts just tells me that you suck at shooting
Never forget that ducks will not migrate farther than they need to. In Louisiana, for example, miss flyway states north of louisiana will hold the ducks until they get freezes. Also, as of oct/2024, the largest rice producing state is Arkansas. Ducks won’t leave that.
Thanks for your comments and insight. You are correct. Arkansas has now taken over total rice production.
Don’t forget about how they convert already great public duck habitat to “moist soil”. Halowell Resevoir is a perfect example. DU actually helps out the people that have the biggest pocket books, not the public land duck hunter.
Well, if that is the case (which it may be), IMO, they help out the public hunter as well. Those areas helped should help produce more ducks as more ducks will return to the breeding grounds in better condition. If that happens, more ducks for years to come which can trickle down to public, as well as private
I am an Arkansan--a 60 year old Pappaw. Hallowell used to offer the public great Duck hunting. The State of Arkansas ruined Hallowell. They could have told DU no. Now Hallowell is nothing but a Coot refuge. Truly sad that they did.
Drive around Hallowell. It’s pitiful. It should have hundreds if not thousands of Ducks on it. At times there are not even a hundred Mallards on it. The other thing to consider is the efficiency of modern farming practices. The harvest is long over and there is a fraction of the waste rice we once had.
Dem tings fancy baw!
They do look quite snazzy! Lol! My son is gonna put them to the test to see how they hold up this season and perform. Seem to be well built for a budget friendly ankle boot.
Where are you running
Coastal marshes of South Louisiana
@ cool
Hope it ain’t that foggy opener or ima be up in the marsh stuck
Y’all check out Zoom earth satellite view, it will show you where the fog is in real time even before daylight…pretty cool stuff
Hope not. Gonna be a mess if it is.@@chazmessina4299
I have the same motor I took it out yesterday and got it in inches of water but it seems like it’s not fully open to 35 HP can you help me by telling me how to get it open to full power
Thanks for the question. That sounds weird. On that motor you should be turning around 3800 rpm at wide open Throttle. There should not be a governor holding anything back
@@LastStopWaterfowlOutdoors I bought it second hand and was told it was not open all the way yesterdays run we got it into inches of water and we did get it out but I think it should have gotten out much easier didn’t seem like it’s fully open didn’t feel like full 35 HP it was 2 guys pushing a 17 foot bass tracker mod v hull with no gear and it struggled a bit but it did get us out just that I wanted to know if there’s anyway to open it up and get maximum power
I bought a Winchester SX4 20ga just to duck hunt with this year! I’m shooting a 3” 1 1/8oz Boss bismuth load out of the 20 and I shoot a 2 3/4” 1 1/4oz boss load out of my 12 ga for years, they’re deadly! And have shot 1 1/8oz out of the 12… giving up nothing as long as you pattern the 20 and get the choke right it’s just as deadly.
Excellent! I would agree.
Got a 28” SX4 20 Gauge in March of this year. Looking forward to not lugging that 3.5” SX3 12 Bore in the AR flooded timber this year. Like the slower shot out of what measures our to be improved modified Carlson’s choke. Using 3” #3 and #2 Apex S3 Steel Shot at 1250 fps. I am good to 40 yards with that set up.
I might add it is important to know the measurement of your choke. A lot of these aftermarket, extended chokes called “full” are actually modified or improved modified to compensate for the use of steel shot. My longest shot is 25 to 30 yards. I pattern to 40 just in case. Steel shot is just fine out to 25 or 30 yards. Beyond that, in my experience, the slower steel shot does better as it slows down later. Fast steel shot tends to slow down quicker and distort at distance for me. I want the heaviest charge of steel shot possible in the slowest speed. The old Winchester DryLok 1-3/8” oz. DryLok #2’s traveling at 1300 fps was deadly for us in the green timber in the 1990’s. They are making that again FWIW and Mack’s has it.
A #4 pellet going 1350fps hits with the same energy fired out of a 20ga as a 12! The 12ga only got real popular for waterfowl hunting when the lead ban came into existence and steel shot loads sucked. With modern steel loads being pretty good, and all the other non-toxic loads like bismuth having much closer to or even better than lead performance the 20ga and other sub gauges are back to being popular and frankly more ethical guns to use for waterfowl.
Great points! I love mine and have not seen a fall off.
And the big money donors buy up all the land for insane prices and in return DU reimburses them thru conservation easements.
Might be true. But, at the end of the day, if I was in a position to purchase that amount of land for my family, I more than likely would do the same. Either way, they are looking to produce more ducks for the future and that cannot hurt. Thanks for dropping a comment with is. Best of luck this season!
Hunted with a browning 20ga 3inch magnums for years, gun my dad gave me when I was 12. Gave it to my son. It worked fine with any duck!!
I switched two years ago to 20 ga…..shooting steel and bismuth…..never going back to 12 ga again.
I understand, trust me. I have enjoyed the hell out of mine since purchasing it. Bought a new 12 last year after handing my Franchi over to my oldest son, but sometimes ask myself why, when I have been so happy with my 20
This is my 2nd season with my SX4 20 ga. Finally got the cash to move away from my pump shotgun for waterfowl.
Congrats! That is a popular model with guys I know. All seem to be happy with the performance
You’re not gonna get rid of cane; it’s the only profitable crop these days in this area. The landowners also still collect rice subsidies on this land converted to cane.
Thank you
They aren’t going to Arkansas either. DU showed the big wheels how to acquire land and setting up duck paradises through WRP. JMO
Thanks
Evidently you weren’t there a few years ago when we argued the pro and cons a few years ago. I should have never have given money to DU. 🤨
I appreciate your feedback and opinion. Sounds like you have a good understanding in your area as well of instances and discussions that have occurred. It takes a collective effort from all involved no doubt. IMO no one will be happy 100% of the time. Really appreciate your insight. Best of luck this season!
