There should be a class action lawsuit against Meta. They just bricked thousands of units with their v72 firmware, and now this. The v72 firmware didn't brick my unit, but now it is so glitchy it won't even load a lot of apps I paid for, and the volume keeps cutting out in my virtual home environment.

My son got one for Christmas and his updated fine on Christmas Day. I got one Boxing Day and I’ve noticed he is in V72 whilst I’m still on V71. Both headsets are working but his looks a little different to mine. The load up screen is slight different and to close windows I click the X at the top right but his is underneath. I’m sure his looks slightly sharper as well

I am not able to open the Meta quest link app on the pc either to connect my headset to the pc. I wonder if this is all related ? I might to have to purchase an Android XR headset in the future. This is very inconvenient.

BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH (FIX) I got my headset the night of December 20, 2024 for my birthday. Plugged it in to charge for 1.5 hours. Turned on as normal and it wanted an update. Update finished, it restarted, then the Meta logo came up then went to a black screen that never changed. I tried everything. I had to factory reset it and just do it all over again and it all worked great. How to factory reset the headset:; 1. Turn off your headset. 2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons until your headset turns on. 3. From the USB Update Mode menu, use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and select Factory reset. 4. Select Yes, erase and factory reset.

Meta support is a joke. I was one of the many that got the water/debris error in charge port after the v62 update. Support is just AI responses. After some time I finally got a replacement "refurbished' headset, with a 💩 ton of dead pixels. I try to avoid updates until it is forced by the headset.

I just got a 3s and it went through all of it's updates and has been operating just fine for me. Sounds to me like they might have had their Internet cut off while their quest headsets were in the middle of finalizing the update, corrupted the data, or it's just a super buggy update that would possibly be resolved by a future patch update Meta will have to roll out that can be installed via usb-c data transfer cable from your PC (if you have one).
