It depends from person to person
i feel like autistic people would be good actors because there are scripts and rules to shows and stuff, which most autistic like because there are specific instructions on what to say and do. or at least i feel like that about acting
Thank you for sharing your experience 🫶 I think I will go the route of enclose that at the end of the interview and give them the time to address any questions directly. 😊
Good video
In society they simply don’t wear a shirt everyday that says I’m autistic nor do they tell everyone I’m autistic! So instead they try to fit in. (Owning being autistic simply does not work in the professional field)ACTING THEIR ENTIRE LIVES! So the answer is THEY ARE THE BEST BY FAR!
Great insight, nice delivery, righteous use of David Bowie clips :-)
Thank You! :)
Life is better post-diagnosis. Afterall, knowing is half the battle! <3
I'm a bit behind. I finally have a chance to sit down and watch some of these. Looking forward to it! Glad to have you back!

Welcome back
Lovely to see you back!!
I would love to watch a movie based on her story, what a strong person! I listened the podcast patient 11 in just one go. I also ordered the Unbroken book. I wish Alexis all the best in future! 💗
Hi I'm struggling with my Level 5 lab report at Uni and waiting for a autism test as I have ADHD, Dyspraxia & ADHD.
Starting acting at 34, well, started actually in comic opera but now rehearsing in spoken drama. It wasn’t until I was recognised by mental health services as being ADHD/Autistic (at 33/34) that I came to respect my own abilities. I completely resonate with the masking theory, and I feel it allows for the formation of quite a powerful toolbox in acting to recognise and analyse in real time how people act ‘in the wild’ of life. So being able to draw on that at will comes quite naturally. Just getting used to learning lines without music haha. But I have long had the ability and joy in memorising poetry so once I find the cadences and rhythm it works much like the music as a mental point of reference. Sad to hear of autistic persons being turned down for neurotypical roles
Your Journey Sounds Amazing, I am so glad you are doing what you love to do. How old are you now if you don't mind me asking?
thanks :) Still 35, but got two comic operas in the bag and rehearsing a spoken drama at present. It's all amateur of course, but really helps with meeting like-minded people (Neurotypicals are definitely in the minority in my theatre groups), and gives me a sense of motivation, identity, and achievement...which being long term unemployed I would have a hard time finding, but that's another topic (although clearly related to late-diagnosis Autism)@@MaxiAspie
Well done on passing your test, I'm an instructor, and I've found your useful for a new pupil I'm about the teach 😄
So true that things would be much better if we were kinder to each other, and assumed positive intentions from whomever we are interacting with! Unfortunately, I recently lost my job asking for a job description, clear instructions, and to stop treating me like the enemy. They had a no-retaliation policy, but I still ended up being the one without a job. I'm now in the process of seeking legal recourse while looking for work. Needless to say, this is really relevant!
As I watched this one, I kept thinking how similar it sounds to me, but I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I guess the ritual part was not as pronounced, but I have shed many tears and lost a lot of sleep worrying that something bad was going to happen to a loved one, and being so unable to function until I knew they were OK. It is debilitating. So sorry you have to deal with that all the time.
I was diagnosed only a few years ago, and I still feel like I don't really know or understand my triggers. I have become MORE self-aware, though, so I am making some progress. The alexithymia and poor interoception make it really difficult for me to know exactly how I feel at any given moment. But I will keep watching your videos if you keep making them! You teach me so much! I'm immensely grateful for your videos, because they've really helped me to understand my condition. Now to watch the other videos I missed (how did THAT happen?)! Thanks for your efforts! Truly!
So glad I got the best treatment for my autistic son who is only 4 years old I've been using Dr Oyalo Herbal medicine and it has been really helpful,💯 his speech has improved completely
Lovely interview Elly. And beautifully executed- absolutely everyone needs a seat at the table x
She is amazing!
Sounds like you are on the right track. Once you have solidified your plan, you can get into more of a rhythm with the whole thing. I get it! Still excited to see what you come up with!
Hey Bud Been a while I will be back soon just working out how!
I hope you had a Good XMAS Buddy, I will be back soon :)
I've always loved diversity! Maybe it's an autistic thing.
Maybe ha ha :)
It might help you to learn about infodumping, and how it can push people away.
Hey Buddy, Apologies it has been a lot of content recently but I have been 23 videos behind and wanted to keep my word to the people who support my channel that they would get those 23 Videos. So was a bit of a battle of catching up, Thanks for your continued support and I hope I haven't pushed you away.
Wow! Amazing milestone! Congratulations, and thanks for all your advocacy!
My pleasure!
Same issues in the USA. :(
You would think we would all get our heads together and sort this out by now!
So frightening! I'm glad you got it figured out!
Well Everyday I learn a bit more!
Seven years ago, and it's still relevant! You did such a great job! Powerful!
Thank You My Friend
Pre-diagnosis I had no interest in being an ambassador for any particular community. Post-diagnosis, as things have started to make sense, I've started to feel a responsibility to speak out about how I've been treated in the past. However, my anxiety is so bad I rarely leave my home. I used to be really independent, but I have regressed a lot the last few years as I've struggled to piece my life together. My life strategies have stopped working for me, and I feel like I have nothing positive to share. However, light MUST be shed on how we are currently treated! People MUST see how destructive their behavior is for autistics! People MUST see all of that before we can expect any meaningful change! In other words, you inspire me!
Thanks so much buddy I love seeing your Comments
So true! The part about being patient with yourself is super difficult, because you're not only dealing with everyone else's ableism, but (particularly late diagnosed folks like myself) you are also dealing with your own deep-rooted ableism that you were taught. THAT is the voice telling you that you have to push yourself beyond your limit. Just being able to recognize that will work wonders, because those are the ones you don't need to internalize.
So True
It's funny you say you'd like to play a villain, because I said the same thing when I was asked which part I would want to play if I ever got a chance to be in a movie. I said the villain, too, because they're usually way more interesting! LOL!
I agree, Big fan of the WWE and all the Villains are the best
You had me laughing out loud with the sound clips! Another great video! :)
Thanks mate! Want to make my videos more fun!
So cool!
Cheers Buddy will have 2023 out soon!
I struggle with this.
Same Here buddy we will get there slowly!
Accurate representation is important! It can be difficult for some people in the "majority" to relate to those in the "minority," especially if their only basis for understanding is a caricature of autistic people in the media. It's a form of ignorance that can only be battled through exposure. Since we only account for a small percentage of the population, the chances of someone knowing how to behave when they meet a neurodiverse person are slim. We rely on the media to help spread a positive message that encourages understanding and acceptance, reaching those too far to reach, otherwise.
We do indeed my friend Representation is key!
It really does vary from employer to employer, AND it can vary within the SAME company when leadership changes! I've had three different bosses in the same company since my late diagnosis, and I've disclosed my autism to all three. Luckily, the first one who didn't understand and would not support me is no longer my boss. The second studied psychology, so he had a bit of a "book-learned" understanding of autism, but still didn't know how to support me. The third has a daughter, who teaches autistic children in elementary (primary) school. She has been an amazing support! We still have struggles, but you are absolutely right about the level of understanding being proportional to the level of support they are willing to tolerate!
Love hearing your experiences :)
No pressure--we don't want burnout--but your ideas for the channel sound so exciting! So glad to have you back! I'm really looking forward to all the new content!
I am enjoying a break but will be back soon!
That is fantastic news! I'm so glad you found something that works for you! My eldest sister suffers from epilepsy, but she is terrified of medications. Unfortunately, natural remedies and herbal supplements just don't cut it, so it's ruled her life for many years. I applaud you for getting your arms around the issue straight away. It appears to have helped!
Cheers So much Mate :)
Condolences to you and your family.
Cheers Man its been a tough time but thank you so much :)
Glad to have you back! The Autism Connections series is so good!!! Yet, I'm so sorry about your grandad. :(
Thanks so much mate means the world that you watch my content :)
Sorry, but i won't ever be against Spectrum 10K! I am Pro-Choice The autistic fetus should not have human rights and if a mother wants to get rid of it, then she should definitely be allowed to.

So glad I found you, it's fate. I have a son called Maxi who has Autism and is displaying OCD behaviours. Thank you for your explanations and tips.
Thanks so much for watching how old is Maxi? :)

What a beautiful person! She reminds me of that poem (I forget who wrote it) that says, "I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you for drawing out into the light my beauty that no one had looked quite far enough to find! I love you." She's the essence of that poem. Such a treasure!
She is amazing, just going through the comments thanks for your constant support it means the world.
So well put! A thousand times YES!!!! LOL!
Thanks So Much Mate!
I just find these so informative! Thank you for all your work! Oh, and congratulations on hitting 500 subs! Yay!!!
Yay! Thank you!
Another great interview! I really got a LOT out of this one! His answer to your question about his ideas on the differences between Asperger's and ASD mirrors my experience quite a bit. But your point about the black-and-white thinking we're "known for" is often the same approach employers take when hiring, and we just need some understanding and acceptance! So good! Keep 'em coming!
Well said mate well said indeed :)
