Our relationships enrich our lives. Strong bonds with family, friends, and colleagues make our lives full and vibrant, but they can also be a source of distress or even trauma. Few relationships are perfect, and we often find ourselves let down by even the people we count on most; learning to navigate the challenges is vital to protecting our health and wellbeing. Focus on concepts of interpretation. Consider 4 steps:1. Significance of the model (F-test); 2. Effect size of the model (R-square); 3. Significance of each predictor (t-test(s)); effect size of each predictor (sr-squared).

      You have to dummy code it. For example, create a column called “dummygender” and label males as 0 and females as 1. Then use that variable as a predictor. This video might help ruclips.net/video/Eh9XhrC1yRA/видео.html

    I love JASP and the clarity of your explanation, particularly how you began with tests of normality and homogeneity. My students would have probably gone straight to a Spearman coefficient on this one (considering how political orientation could have been considered an ordinal scale) but I agree with your decision to run the ANOVA in order to see if we have a nonmonotonic relationship between the variables.

    This video looks very good in terms of how the t-test output should be reported in your thesis. But the presentation is very poor especially for someone who is not biased in statistics. Question, what criteria must guide our conclussion that groups are normally distributed or not and also that variance is homogeneous or not. This important information is missing. Secondly, the presenter did not show which part of the t-test output is important to capture in your thesis report. Finally, the voice-over is extremely poor. If these complaints can be addressed, it will make a very good material for non-statistics students. I will be very happy to liaise on one-on-one with the author so I can ask questions and learn from him. afarfred@gmail.com from University of Cape Coast, Ghana

      @@richardbalkin2902 may I trouble you for a question? I think of SCRD as quantitative since it uses the manipulation of the independent variable and continuous assessment. My chair questioned this and is leaning toward viewing it as qualitative. If it were a case study in a truly qualitative fashion I would agree, but it's not. I have also seen SCRD referred to as a mixed method approach because of the breadth and depth of information that is gathered due to the small size studied. How do you think it is best described?

    • @richardbalkin2902
      @richardbalkin2902 3 года назад

      @@brendaelledge2769 I view it as more quantitative, but keep in mind SCRD may be helpful in establishing a functional relationship, but findings should not be considered generalizable.

    Hi, Thank you for your explanation. however, I have a question about the R-square table from JASP analysis. I'm still not sure how to interpret the tables because there are 2 variables that have the R-Square. Can you help me to understand how to write the interpretation based on the R-Square values? Thank you :)

    • @richardbalkin2902

    Dear Balkin, thank you for your video, which is helpful. Can I always use the Zscore*10+50 to calculate the T-score despite the sample number and distribution?

    • @richardbalkin2902
      @richardbalkin2902 3 года назад

      no. You should have a representative distribution to make sense out of the z-score, which is an extension of the mean. So, if your sample is small, there is likely more error. But if you are using a population mean for your scores, then it works.

    • @elvawang3666
      @elvawang3666 3 года назад

      @@richardbalkin2902 Thank you for your reply! Do you mean that I can only use Z-score when my population is a normal distribution? and then I can use Z-score to calculate the T-score by "Zscore*10+50"?

    Richard, thanks so much for the informative video. However, I am a bit confused. I am going to examine measures from 5 major physiological systems. McEwen’s model of allostatic load uses canonical correlations to create an index. Do you have further details on running canonical correlations to reflect the 5 systems and the multiple indicators (for this example, 2 measures for each of the 5 systems) to derive the index?
