Comparing the CAD E100S | Shure SM7B | ElectroVoice RE20
Просмотров 3 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video I test the CAD E100S, Shure SM7B and ElectroVoice RE20 microphones. They are named A, B and C. At the end of the video you'll find out which mic is which. All mics were tested with a DBX286S pre amp and a Yamaha MG10XU mixer. On the SM7B and RE20, a Triton Fethead in line pre amp was used as well. Flat microphones, pre amp bypass....... 0:26 Pre amp bypass high pass filter...........

Thanks god it's called grease not an oil cuz it would summon entire US Airforce
LMAO this always kills me. I go back to this and show my sisters n my mom every now n then 😂
I'm sad that inquisition is a pale shadow of what the origins is and barely has a fraction of this depth.
You can shattered with the prison spell too, I m pretty sure. But It can require timing.
WOW. This game was way ahead for its time.
Playing through this game for the first time this year and I've been searching all sorts of vids to help out with my mage build, this one has definitely helped a LOT!
6:12 fmi used that combo of tank and force field to lure a group of enemies... And theb bombard the tank with spells... Blizzard, fire storm, lightning storm... Everything
Lol I like how everyone finding this video now, great video.
Wtf is this cheater, he has the last strongest spells without the first ones of the chain. Thats no possible normaly xD
Ar e Água
Shatter became my favorite this last playthrough.
I had played a few times before and only discovered Improved Drain and Shattering by myself. I recently decided to purchase the Ultimate Edition and started playing again, then I accidentally learned about Storm of the Century on the internet when I was looking for some tips, and now I've learned so many more! It suddenly feels like a different game now, with all these Chrono Trigger-like spell combinations hahah
You can put forcefield on your party and then apply crushing prison after the enemy has surrounded your party member. You may also cast crushing prison on an enemy and then before it runs out use forcefield the blast everyone around them but the first technique is better.
I remember playing this when I was younger and at the time I didn't really care too much about strategy so it's cool to revisit the game and see just how much more depth there was that I never bothered to learn about at the time.
In the earlier games that was a wrath demon but in this one it's a pride demon I'm just said why is this
wow, i didn't know that you could combine spells.
Playing this game every now and again since it came out, I never knew this was a thing. I honestly didn't think this was possible, but this is by design. Wow
What a ln absolute classic.😍 Elder scrolls eat your heart out
Thanks man
Storm of the Century seems useless, it's too had to get all the enemies grouped up without killing the tank
It's very situational. There's just about enough room in the Broodmother fight if you order everyone to hold position against the back wall. You can also cast it through doors if you know there's a big crowd of enemies in the next room.
You can actually use it effectively in some situations when there's a wide area. It has both effects of Blizzard (occasional slow, freeze, knockdown) and Tempest (additional damage to stamina and mana), which can make it very hard for most enemies to fight back or even survive the damage itself. Usually, I keep the whole party out of the area, attacking with ranged weapons and protecting the mage(s) however they can (because they will generate tons of threat), and fighting whatever comes out of the storm alive as usual.
How do you have fireball and don't have flame blast and fire weapons?
could do with this being expanded on, there's some more in awakening that we don't know
Thanks for the spoiler. Yet I indeed search it on purpose. 🤣
My favorite combo (that isnt an actual combo) is walking bomb and freezing the enemy. I called it the landmine because it was most of the time a group of archers or mages that I would cast it on
Oooh that's fiendishly cool 🤘 I gotta try that out!
@@haydensiska8454 it is super cool my dude like it's awesome but the best part is if you have a second mage that can freeze the whole group, the damage gets even more spicy
The virulent version is group killer
In my opinion, Origins had the best mage build ever in dragonage.
Especially in awakening
Fact, not opinion. DA2 and inquisition mages were so underwhelming.
@@LordBearistrescuthe only thing good they did about mages in DAll is the mages’ moves when they cast spells. Much more athletic and less slower
Mage is so important. Those CC can come in clutch at times.
On the game's loading screen it said experiment with your spells but oh God I had no idea it was this advanced! I already knew about shattered but these! Wow. I finished my first playthrough a few days ago! I'm playing Awakening now. These will be useful thank you!
if you check the PC version when in awakening you can see there's room for more combos
I never felt powerful than when I ran as a mage
The love they put in this game man.... so much depth
It's a clever world building trick from the writers of DA lore put there as a plot device. They had the general idea of how the lore was gonna progress since DA2 of course since thats why that game even exist , it was just a plot to put the event in motion. This prophecy may refer to everything they may do in the future or may never relate to anything specific people will always speculate, that's the beauty of prophecy's they always seem right if you want to.
Lol new to the game. Every fight is hard. Then after this onto 2, then import those choices into inquisition. As that story made no sense without previous ones
I didn't even realize you could do stuff like this ?
Seems to me people will return to being spirits. Cole's story pretty much proved it's possible all races in Thedas originated from the fade.
When all else fails...Blood Wound! This spell is ridiculously overpowered against living enemies, and there is a lot of darkspawn enemies out there
I have the SM7B but i really like the. Cad. See the EV RE20 is a bit too low end which makes it lesz detailed. Sm7b is overhyped tbh.
I feel the same. the sm7b has the same sound as the blue yeti and the blue yeti can just be equalized to sound like the shure sm7b. jayztwocents got hammered for saying that but lets be honest no amount of quality preamps will fix the way that things sounds. eq can only go so far and the cloudlifter has no effect since the noise floor is coming from the mic itself. you can test this with a 150 ohm resister soldered to a xlr dummy plug on pin 2 and 3 (careful not to solder to pin 1 as that can break your preamps) and there you go! the same resistance as the Shure sm7b "150 ohms". with that said my preamps are dead spanking quiet with or without the cloudlifter and properly set to get my voice to between -6 db and -12 db. so that just leaves one thing other than the mic itself... room noise! well yeah see... the thing is that I live in the countryside and I have a vocal booth. at most I have 3 cars drive by per day. so no it's not room noise! it is nothing more than the Shure sm7b and for some reason people love the damn thing! oh yeah and if you pay attention a raw recording sounds as if the person speaking has a red solo cup up between them and the mic.
@@GameAbuseStudiosGaming im actaully gonna swap to the elgato wave 3 due to ease of it while streaming, can play music to my stream thats one thing and the. Listen to someone else myself! On a mic!! Its great
Mana clash.That is all!
I like B more for your voice, but with the high pass filter I think C would work best for my voice. I have an extremely low voice but my esses and T’s are very sibilant, so condenser mics never work well for me (even though I love them for instrument recording) I already own an SM7B, I might need to pick up an RE20 to try it with my voice to see if I like it better than the SM7B for voice acting
Hope the video helped you!
You learn something new every day. I played DAO years ago and never knew about this, but it's useful information today now that I'm re-visiting the game! (Who knew this game had elemental combinations long before the recent Divinity games? :) )
i still play dao today hahaha
same
And the best part, it can be quite literary a game changer. You can make a mage build around hoarding enemies (e.g. blood wound) freeze or petrify them and infect with a (virulent) walking bomb and set the “device” of with some kind of shattering (crushing prison dose work also). This level of synergy is sadly lacking in later entries.
Gracias.
Terrible bow
'When he rises, everyone will see' is definitely a reference to 'The Dread Wolf Rises'.
Is...is sandal a dreamer...? Like tge only dwarf conected with the fade?
Good video.
im so confused by this video... are you absolutely sure you labeled them right? cuz i own the re20 and it isn't that dark. i honestly didn't like C in this video :S I've never owned an SM7b but have an SM58 which isn't far off and that mic sounds much more like C. weird...
I am yes. I decided to make this video since I've seen so many reviews on RUclips already that made clear how voice dependent (these) mics are.
I agree. The RE20 sounded much darker in this video than those I have heard. Typically it is the SM7B that sounds muffled and boomy.
The Dread Wolf will rise♡
I got B and C wrong!
I actually chose B until the high pass filter was applied. It sounded thin to me and lost its glorious warmth. C (RE20) sounded too dark and muffled for my taste and was my last favorite until you applied high pass filter. It cleaned up very nicely and is actually very usable. The SM7B is my favorite because of how flat it sounds. Both B and C seems like they have a dip in the mid range. I actually guessed it all right because of my experience with them. The SM7B also handled plosives better than the two (the RE20 being the worst). With good processing and preamps I think the E100S wins soundwise also considering it to be a condenser and followed by the SM7B. Overall I'm still sold out to the SM7B for it being better in almost all applications, plays great with EQs, built like a tank, and more foolproof than the other two. The RE20 does not pay very well with proximity effect too that's why it's at the bottom of my list.
Brilliant comparison! In the end, the selection is always based on personal preferences. It was great to finally find a spoken word comparison that wasn't someone hamming it up for the camera. This blind test actually allows one to focus on the sound. This is audio after all - who cares what the mics look like? For broadcast, the SM7B certainly sounds more 'open,' but the RE20 wins hands down for 'presence.' There is a 'broadcast psychology' behind the sound design of the Electro-Voice that I think is often overlooked. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great comparison clip!
Thanks for such an elaborate comment! Really do appreciate it
Don't forget that it was because of anders for the big showdown between mages and templars
