Dude that snare sounds so good! How have you tuned it? Is the bottom head cranked up?
Thank you. I try to explain, because I've never think about it. First of all, I start with a full 360° turn on every screw (Top and bottom). so you've got a good keynote. Then I begin with top bottom, to push it. Introduce yourself a Clock: 15 minutes or a quarter turn at the top screws = 2,5 - 5 minutes at the bottom. I don't know, if this is good explanation. Most of the times, when I tune the snare, it's kind of mood of the day. What I want is a good high snare, but not to high, like this shitty grindcore thing
@@TerroriN I see, it does not sound that high though! I can still feel the "thump" in it, but maybe you pushed that up with EQ as well? I know that Hybrid gives this kind of tone as well, but I really never got this kind of sounds in my snares with that head on haha! I'm a bit confused over your explenation though.. a quarter turn on all screws on top and just "5 minutes" (which is 3 times less than a quarter turn) for the bottom sounds reaaaallly lose? Or am I totally wrong here haha?
@@KholmDrums You're right, it is not that high, like it sounds. But I think, it depends on the snare you play. I have an 14x5,5. So you don't need a high tension, because of the shell. Actually I switch to the Evans black hydraulic on the top. The hybrid start to work at high tension and this was not the sound, I want for the snare. For the last 5 videos, I work with a producer in a studio, so I don't know what's going on at the EQs. He showed me the final mix and I like it hahaha. I know, the explanation sounds a bit weird. Maybe I had to say, that Minutes = movement of the screw. The bottom has enough tension to swing and sound. But it is not cracked up.
