Some nice stuff, but not there yet. Popular acceptance is no judge for good. Time is the test. Sorry to hear of your loss. I know the feeling. However, be careful not to let personal feeling overcome the real artistic quality. Yes, art is emotional, but not really derived out of emotion. It only serves as an influence and motivation, but it too gets in the way of production.

I like this guys work, yes, but I don't think he truly thinks thru everything well enough or looks at the masters enough in light of his own work. I think when he does something he likes, he repeats it to where it becomes boring and over done/mundane. Restraint is the necessary key for him. Simplicity, even though the overall speaks of minimal, the little marks and use of color can get over used here. But, still good and getting better.
