That basically means that most of the transport category planes land beyond the acceptable touchdown area established in the ACS, since most of the times they land beyond the double fixed distance marker where the ACS acceptable touchdown area ends. I actually think the ACS standard is not adequate. You are supposed to aim to the aim point markers during the approach. The PAPI, VASI or ILS will typically guide you to the aim point too. Now at some 50 ft you start the flare maneuver to reduce the vertical speed for touchdown, which means you will be aiming ahead of the aim point markers. If you look at the real trajectory, the plane comes in a 3 deg descent path that would end at the aim point indicators, but some time before landing on them the pilot will flare by pitching up a bit which, combined with ground effect, will cause the trajectory to describe first an arc and then settles on a straight trajectory with a slope much much shallower than 3 degrees. If 3 degrees were giving you 700 fpm, then 150 to 200 fpm at touchdown (a typical smooth touchdown, but not a greaser) will give you a slope of about 0.75 degrees. How can we estimate the distance ahead of the aim point that the airplane would touch down? We can make a couple of mathematical models. The easiest one is just break the 3 deg straight slope instantly turning it into a 0.75 deg straight slope at some point. This is not physically possible but what is physically possible is that the pilot and the ground effect will start the flare higher (say 40 ft) and curve the trajectory in such a way that it becomes tangent to the line that has the 0.75 de slop starting at 20 ft, which will yield the same touchdown point. Let's say 20 ft. 20 ft / tan 3 = 381 ft. If you kept the 3 deg slope you would land 381 ft ahead of where you crossed 20 ft of altitude AGL, hitting the aim point. 20t / tan 0.75 = 1527 ft. That is 1146 ft past the aim point, and 646 ft past the 500-ft-after-the-aim-point point, which is the first 2-rectangles fixed distance marker, and it's also the limit of the ACS's acceptable touchdown area. Changing the flare model will change the result, but reasonable models yield results of 1000 to 2000 ft ahead of the aiming point, which not just by chance is the zone where you have the darkest smudges of tire marks in every runway operated by transport category airplanes. To be able to hit the ACS's acceptable landing area you would have basically 3 options. a) Not flare much and accept a hard landing. b) At some point change your aim to some point to a point closer the the runway threshold, so when yo start the flare you are farther back from the "official" aim point. That means that you have to first increase the glide slope to more than 3 degrees, basically artificially causing an unstable approach (even if slightly unstable). Your PAPI lights will go red and the ILS glide slope needle will deviate more than 1 dot. c) Make a much more brisk flare much closer to the ground. That is difficult and risky. Start a but too late and BAM, you hit the ground hard. It also entails changing the pitch very rapidly. A very small change in pitch (a couple of degrees, like in any flare), but very rapidly. Extend that pitching a fraction of a second too long and you end up with more pitch than expected and ballooning or bouncing, which are perfect ways to fail the landing task in the check ride. So yea, the ACS's requirement is unreasonable. But there is more! With this ACS requirement, the FAA is being inconsistent.... with the FAA!!! Not only because it already defined the touchdown zone as 3000 ft starting at the threshold (which is perfectly aligned with 1000 ft of aim point + 2000 ft of flare calculated above), but it is also inconsistent with the airplane certification requirements. 14 CFR part 25 (that applies to certification of transport category planes), specifically 25.125, states the the landing distance is calculated (and demonstrated by flying a stabilized approach and crossing the threshold at 50 ft (which kills option b) and at not less than Vref, and that "the landing must be made without excessive vertical acceleration (which kills option a), tendency to bounce, or porpoise (which are risks in option c)", and also that "the landings may not require exceptional piloting skill or alertness", which finishes up the job of killing option c.

No matter what you think about Americans , they work much harder than other peoples and are overall , far more efficient and effective . The average American is well behaved and polite. They have also have been brainwashed into believing they are “the devil “ . They aren’t . They are very unwilling to stand up for themselves in fact and it’s quite sad. Overall , they may come across as bombastic , but they are a great people who do their best and are willing to help where they can. You won’t get that from the UK. The county is young an vibrant and I was energised after the visit .
