All my heros look like shit now. I'm getting old. Lmao.
Thanks a million for posting this. I used to shop there quite a bit in the mid nineties, and my wife worked there at the time as well. I've got fond memories of the place... eating in the food court, shopping at Electonics Boutique and Waldenbook and Penneys . It was the upscale mall circa 1988-1998. It's sad to see the rot and decay, but it's also an important reminder that everything man builds in this world is temporary and will rot, and this is never more true than when it comes to our shopping trends. As dazzled as I was at all the ritzy shops when I was a boy, as a man I realize it's all paint and drywall and concrete. All temporary and ultimately, little better than an illusion and fakery. I especially appreciate you getting us behind the doors, not only to see a glimpse of what the stores were like but also the empty shelves and peeling paint is a reminder that it's all just marketing and not all that important. Fun, for a bit though. Thanks for one last walk through the past. Outstanding job.

Just watched the old “Unsolved Mysteries” episode about her disappearance. Had no idea she was the beautiful young girl in this iconic scene of Scarface. Very sad and tragic story. I wonder if she had onset of schizophrenia. This could help explain the paranoid delusions.

@@musafirghayrmaeruf1 That one was great!
The way you came in to the mall was through the kitchen of a cafeteria that was part of the original mall. The mall was built in 2 stages with the food court and the back wing being added in the mid '80's. The mall fell victim to changing demographics and the opening of 3 major shopping areas over the years, including Eastdale Mall which opened in 1977 and was added to in 1987 and The Shoppes at EastChase beginning in the early '90's. If this mall had not closed in 2008, it still would have died before now because of its size (Montgomery wasn't really big enough to support 3 major shopping areas at the time that EastChase was starting to be developed and the Mid-Town center built in 2006 (the third major shopping area I mentioned earlier) is to this day anchored not by a mall-type store like Dillard's but by a Walmart) and because of the switch by so many shoppers and stores to online shopping, which is what is causing most large malls to die today. The neighborhood around the mall changed dramatically over the years. I lived and worked in the area around the mall in 1990 before my company relocated to another shopping center and I bought a house further away from town. I would likely not move to that neighborhood today. I was shocked to see so much stuff left behind. I have watched several videos of this mall but yours was perhaps the most in-depth look at the mall I have seen since it closed. The skylights I believe started leaking and that, along with the abundance of sunshine provided by the skylights, accounts for much of the water damage as well as the plant life inside the mall. The clock was originally located in downtown Montgomery and was relocated to the mall during the expansion. Thanks for a great tour.
Cool 😎
Thanks!
The makeovers all these malls got in the 90’s were terrible. The older iterations look 1000x better.
Thanks for watching.
are they tearing down school
So far, no. Keep your fingers crossed and thanks for watching.
These are the warning signs of a country in decline. It's not just Montgomery. It's the entire nation.
Thanks for watching. Check out part 2 with more images and pics of the past.
And it's also because the mall was purchased by glimcher realty trust company for $70 million dollars But I heard that it was a terrible company and that's how it happened
Fantastic video, using the drone inside the mall was genius. I'm a drone pilot myself and I know that flying indoors isn't as easy as it looks.
Thank you very much, sir. I really appreciate your kind words. Thanks for watching the video. I hope you have a great week.
Do they have any plans on tearing it down and building something else on the property?
Portions of the structure have been converted/remodeled into a public safety HQ, two educational facilities, and a medical service building. Thanks for watching.
Very nice work. Love the clock very much ♥️ I do wonder what's behind the walled off part tho. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work 💪🏻
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate you watching. An educational facility is located behind the wall. Portions of the building were purchased and restored. Public safety, 2 schools and a medical facility.
As good as part one. Wonderful filming with great respect to these cathedrals of retail. All the people that worked there all the people that shoped their all gone with their hopes and dreams. The food court, empty tables waiting for customers that will never return. When these places are demolished and gone at least we will have records like this because of people like you. Regards 🇬🇧 uk.

When you see someone killed, it changes you, especially if the culprit(s) are people of high status.
Thanks for watching.
Sounds like she was given drugs at this party . Probably saw something similar to the killing on set and it triggered her and maybe that's why she freaked out . I think it's odd her mom didn't notify the police until 5 days after she left . There's definitely several people involved in this including Keith . Who was the lady that said Tammy was perusing her dreams at wanting to be a nurse. Why was she not questioned more . Why was Keith looked into more. Why didn't they look and check finger prints in that phone booth took see if she was really there . Did Keith actually drive her to Florida ? Since Tammy wasn't reported missing for 5 days that guy could've drove her or possibly Killed her . Why not check his car for blood stains they tried to possibly remove. Why was no one at the party questioned . If Tammy was delusional it was from either a mix of drugs she was given or from the trauma of what she saw. But she probably wasn't all that delusional . The police know more than they said . It's odd they didn't want her mom to know any leads . Between that info and not notifying the police for 5 days . Maybe they either thought the mom and/or the one family friend could've been more involved than what was believed or something was up with the police since that's an odd thing to say don't give the mom any leads . If there's a lot of big drug names she knew about , us not uncommon they pay off police to stay quiet . It seems like this case was brushed under the carpet the day she walked out the door and the police didn't do their job at checking all these other things that would normally been looked into more thoroughly
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts on this case. I really appreciate it.

Did you request access and get it. Does not look broken into by anyone, because there is no graffiti ?
Looks like all or some of this is done with a drone.
What year did this close? They did a major new addition to this mall sometimein the mid 90's that basically doubled it's size.
2008 I see it now.
@@johndersham1 Thanks for watching, sir. Have a great weekend.
I was a Junior in high school. The panic and terror that this unleashed was unbelievable. Parents forbade their children from going downtown for any reason. It’s hard to explain how this incident paralyzed the town for several days. I think The National Guard came and patrolled downtown in general.

Great video! It's too bad i get this weird feeling that Eastdale seems to now be declining today, as well. Though it isn't totally dead yet, you can see the signs Eastdale is going down that path. I.e. that one of the mall slumlords(either Namdar or Kohan) bought the mall, an increasing number of stores have left for a lifestyle center east of there, the fact(per some reports I've read) their ice rink isnt open for as many hours as it used to be, etc. Will say I'm kinda surprised none of those into virtual mall recreations, have tried recreating this mall yet. And while I don't do any of those recrestions myself, I'm a member of a few such groups and think one of the people ij these groups would do a REALLY great job of recreating this mall!
Thanks for watching. I appreciate you.
@@wiseupproductions3140 You're welcome. I think I will suggest those into virtual mall recreations(I'm in a few of those Discord groups), should try to recreate Montgomery Mall someday.
