I think every time Lundell has gotten the call to replace Barky in the lineup Lundell has been challenged to skate in his spot. And almost every time he has risen to the occasion! He has already developed a quick chemistry with Chucky in limited minutes over time. Losing Benny is not easy nor easily done but will be necessary in order to sustain as a Cup contender

We can’t just let Bennett walk for free.. is not guaranteed we’re even making it out of the first round the way we’re playing right now.. Bennett has to be traded for a top D …player for player deal…

I think you have to accept, like it or not, that the core of this team will be together for a long long time. Similar to other Cup champions with long runs, Islanders (80's), EDM (80's). Pens (twice 90's and 20-teens), the basic core will be together until their retire in sequence. It's what Zito is going to do. Its painfully obvious to anyone looking at the business end of this, that the team is gradually working in the youth in small stints but the veterans will be here likely until the end of their contracts unless it falls apart on the on ramp. The aforementioned teams held on to no less than 6 core forwards and 3 core defensemen for a 3-5 yr period. I have the rosters in a spreadsheet and it's amazing how Fla mirrors this exact roster management play. All I gotta say is that Mackie is on a short leash if he wants to stay here. He'll need to improve and score, otherwise there's other young guys pushing to get up here and win. Bennett stays. Verswag stays. All in all, we'll have a starting 9 together for 6-8 yrs all totaled dating back to 21. It is a fun time to be here.

I think youre wrong in thinking that Bennett is replaceable. Viola called him the "soul" of the Panthers. They're going to try to keep him.

I’m gonna say: 1. Toronto 2. Boston 3. Florida 4. Tampa Bay 5. Detroit 6. Ottawa 7. Buffalo 8. Montreal

Now that Swayman has signed, I feel better about my predictions for the Atlantic. I'll go with: 1. Boston 2. Toronto 3. Florida 4. Tampa Bay 5. Ottawa 6. Buffalo 7. Detroit 8. Montreal I think likely four get into the playoffs. Any of the Top 3 could change order. Tampa as one of the Wild Card spots. Unless, somehow either Washington or the Islanders finish better and it's five that get in from the Metro. Maybe Ottawa/Buffalo/Detroit surprises and we get five in from the Atlantic. Wouldn't be shocked if Montreal doesn't finish in 8th as well as I like what they're building.

D-Core: Let's refer to Moneyball here, you cannot replace a guy who hit on 70+ points unless it's a guy who hit on 70+ points. What you can do is replace him with 2-3 other people who can do that. Montour's avg was roughly 50 points. you don't need 1 guy who can get on base and hit 40 homers, you need 2-3 guys who can get on base. That's what they are doing analytically. What if Schmidt can hit on 40 points? and someone else picks up the slack with 25? You've replaced Montour productively. Stylistically you haven't but the production is there. Kirby is right we need more RHD. God needs to take someone else's Guardian angel and give it to Ekblad to keep him from getting hurt this year.

LOL. My 14yo is with Kirby-- the Ducks is S tier (he is a Ducks fan tho). Staying So Cal, I think the Kings jersey is mid. They got the logo right-- but the white stripe on the bottom is just too tall for me. It's damn near half the jersey. The Panthers logo is more of a soccer shield for me- but I think everyone was a little harsh on it. 14yo and I both agree with Cody with Winnipeg. The old logo is much better, but the new one isn't hot garbage.

My thoughts on the jerseys: 1. Kirby is 100% correct about the Ducks jersey. It's S tier. 2. The Dallas 3rd jersey with the neon green lettering is terrific, but I do agree their Home jersey is bad 3. I think for the Panthers jersey, I think the issue is the white stripe that's in the middle of the jersey. I think we can all agree that the navy reverse retro should be the home jersey 4. Want to point out again how wrong Cody and Lex are about the Ducks jersey 5. Nashville isn't a bad jersey, but I might be biased because I'm from TN 6. Philly has the worst jerseys in hockey. Their name tags on the back make absolutely no sense. Kirby is 100% wrong here. 7. Krakan is most definitely S tier. I hate their name, but the jersey is incredible 8. With y'all on the Blues regular jerseys. However, the Blues powder blue jersey that they used for the Winter Classic a few years ago challenges the S tier 9. We aren't allowed to have Tampa ahead of us in anything. 10. I agree with y'all about Vancouver. Red/Black is a lot better 11. Vegas' jerseys can burn 12. The Jets' logo isn't good 13. Lastly, just want to point out how wrong Lex/Cody were about the Ducks jersey.

I don’t have a problem with Barky being where he is, but I do think there’s an argument he should be switched with Leon. After all, it is a “right now” list, and the last time we saw them play, Barky was the best player on the ice head to head, including McDavid with the exception of 2 of the 7 games. I know Leon was probably injured but it wasn’t like Barky didn’t have a concussion or anything like that from that hit from Leon. There’s no denying Leon’s been the better player over the past few years, but Barky took his game to another level this postseason and should have been Conn Smythe

Really enjoyed. The D discussion. Lot of good thoughts here. Here’s my thoughts on Forsling. I think that the reason he was bad in Yr 1 of Maurice was because the entire team was having to transition to a D-first system. The entire team struggled with the transition and he was part of that. I don’t necessarily think that he will be as good as he was last year (although I would love to be wrong there), but I think that he’s much closer to that than the previous year. I think he’s right where he needs to be on this list. I’m putting him top 10 would be obvious Panthers fan bias but having him outside of the top 20 would be someone not having eyes on what happened this year, particularly in the playoffs
