This is where I'll occasionally upload new speedrun records.
[WR] Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 Remastered | 57:00 (Loadless) | Any% PC
Since some of the big skips that were found in the original game also work in the remaster, I felt obliged to do a new run. To skip Pirate Island entirely, a new glitch involving the menhir rain combo was discovered. However, because of the skill tree system, the combo requires 8.5k additional helmets, which I collected by completing the targets area in WCW twice.
The run has some big time losses, including the inevitable once-per-run game crash which came at the worst moment. The only goal was to lower the time to sub 1 hour, which was easy enough.

My first real attempt at a full run in months, and honestly not a run to be proud of. However, it demonstrates the new Any% route (using skips that utilize the Power Hammer), including the latest helmet collection strats which I failed utterly, so I had to buy Twister in Egypt. Oh well, I still finished the run and shaved off a few seconds from my PB! Sorry for the autosplitter problems in Rome...

I still can't believe Lutetia Bridge Skip is finally real! Apart from a massive time loss in Venetia, every segment was quite good, though there is room for improvement in most of them.

A decent run that uses most of the new skips. A big thanks goes to Heso for finding those incredible time saves. Luxor and Pirate Island are now skipped almost entirely, as well as the first two arenas and the Internetus in WCW. If the skip of the last cannon fight in WCW hadn't gone wrong, this would have been a sub 50 minutes run. Maybe next time!

Most levels began really well, but ultimately fell short due to very needless time losses at unfortunate places. Still, thanks to the abundance of new skips introduced in the last few months, it was easy to lower my previous time by over three minutes. A 1:00:xx run would already be possible! Rome was the highlight of this run, setting a new record time for the level.

Egypt and Rome were very good, Greece and Helvetia were saved thanks to new skips (shoutout to klea and Sypervenya!), while Normandy could be better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this time :)

I'm very happy with this run. I got a new gold in every level except Pirates' Island where I unfortunately failed Left Eye Skip once. Since I got most other skips on first try and had insane Potion RNG as well, I believe this is the best time I can achieve in XXL2.

Awesome run, congrats! It's amazing to see this game from my childhood still getting love, even after all these years! May I ask, how do you play the game on PC? Where did you find the game?
Thank you! I still have a physical PC copy of the game. However, the game requires a fan-made patch to run on modern systems. Luckily you can download the game with its patch and various QOL improvements from the Discord server in the video description. :)

How do you get the HUD to have Xbox controller buttons instead of those generic PC ones?
@@matej1608 It's a mod made by Martyste that swaps the language selection in the game with a few different HUD options. The draw-back is that it makes the game playable only in German or French (for now). Feel free to contact Martyste or me on Discord if you want the mod.

Welchen Sprung meinst du genau? Slide-Jumps wie den bei 0:52? Dafür muss man nur von einer Kante aus Dash drücken und sofort danach die Sprung-Taste.

I played this game when I was like 8 years old and I loved it. I found it really difficult back then and struggled a lot, think I never even finished it. Few years ago I found the disc again and played it through in one sitting in like 5 hours and relived some childhood memories. It's great to see someone is actually still actively speed running this game. Some of your shortcuts blew my mind. Very cool to see!
I'm currently having a lot of nostalgia for this game and am trying to get my copy of the old PC port running but it doesn't seem to be working on either Windows 11 OR XP. How are you still playing this game? Do you have any good tutorials?
Yeah, the PC version doesn't normally run on 64-bit systems. However, there is a simple solution by downloading this patch: www.speedrun.com/de-DE/aandomlv/resources/acmee Replace the "GameModule.elb" file in the main game folder with this file. Don't forget to rename the downloaded file to "GameModule.elb". If you're still having trouble, let me know :)
