hey man! you're good no worries. while the gt86 is a great platform for drifting, what a lot of people don't realize is that it actually tends to understeer quite a bit and especially when using semi slick tires like i am here, it's difficult to break traction in a way that will actually benefit the car. drifting in it is easy, but being fast in it WHILE drifting is a different thing. i do actually slide the car quite a bit in here but it's extremely subtle to where it almost isn't noticeable unless you are feeling the wheel or actively listening to the tires screech. if you have even the slightest bit of excessive angle when drifting it, you lose a lot of speed and the 86 simply doesn't have enough power in stock form to fight it back. the reality of it is that drifting isn't actually faster in racing, BUT, on tracks like most touge courses, you can use drifts to carry more momentum and rotation since a lot of the time there's banked corners that will help you carry speed. it's all situational!

On these servers I usually race like in this video until I notice someone in the minimap driving towards me then I simply switch to one lane driving and that's it

@@Beatsbasteln wdym the wrong things? i avoid looking at the map to know whats coming because then I become too dependent of it to drive so I partly know what you mean

@@kuroshiromugen4900 i'm a little scared of myself sometimes. I use the sim to learn how to drive better and to avoid a crash irl. cutting corners is alright when the visibility is clear, but we have all survived many situations that were not guaranteed to work, both in the sim and irl, and could learn the wrong behaviour from that. gotta be careful

@@sadge0 don’t let that hold you back man!! i grew up playing racing games on a controller my whole life before switching to a logitech g29 wheel. and to be completely honest with you, i was TERRIBLE at first 😭 it was very difficult to get the hang of it but it was the most rewarding thing ever. i understand being worried about disliking it, because there will be moments you’re so incredibly frustrated because you can’t figure out what you’re doing wrong, but it’s all a learning process and as long as you want it bad enough then anybody can learn it 🙏🏼 and my goal is to help out as many people as i can get into it

bruh that is an excuse if you keep polishing your driving even with mouse & keyboard you are going to be fast, in fact, the mouse steering makes it much easier to make precise steering inputs

i actually agree! my goal with this video wasn’t necessarily to create a comparison but to ask the question if in the right hands, does it have the potential to keep up. sadly, as fun of a car as it is, it’s simply not on the same playing field as the rx7. but a lot of people including myself love the possibility of an underpowered car keeping up with the big dogs!! 🙏🏼

@@acwill i mean, that's what the Lotus elise and Caterham 7 are for. And if you wanna go for bigger stuff you can always just toss a turbo in there and call it a day 😂 The elise not so much as it's technically a "mini supercar" but the caterham fits 100%, they're not too expensive from what i know

@@acwill damnnn, i recently tried (real) moza losdcells that didnt have the block of rubber in them, and when i hopped back on my logi without the rubber block I was locking up everywhere in the 86 tuned on TL1 lol, idek how i managed to not lockup pre-loadcell experience

It was wild when i tried the "rubber block" for the first time on a G29 compared to my now gone G25's pedals, it was SO much easyer to use the brakes effectively and it genuinely helped understand where the tyres had the limit. Not even the basic fanatec pedals come close with their silly sponge and i genuinely like them, but i can't not have ABS on with theese unlike the modern logitec ones

yeah the basic rubber stopper just gives you a slight progressive feeling but in reality doesn’t provide much at all in comparison to better pedal sets. i’ve switched to the Simjack UT loadcell pedals and the resistance has been fantastic so far.

however, there are pedal upgrades you can do. if you check etsy, there’s tons of cheap aftermarket parts for better pedal feel! I almost went that route before i upgraded. and touching on what @ferrari255 said, i had the CSL pedals before too and i agree. they’re not the greatest either, the stopper is very soft and easy to “break in”
