I used to say "aint it", like a really chavy way of saying "isn't it" but I would say in in place of "you know" and it didn't even make any sense. Ain't it? In a way, I was really saying "do you accept what I just said or would you prefer to reject it?". I was lucky that I had some honest colleagues that told me that it sounded bad. I asked them to repeat it back to me if I said it and I was shocked how often I said it. It took me a few months, but I managed to get out of the habit.

Thank you so much. As someone who just wings it, I'm painfully aware of the vast advantage a well practiced speech carries. But somehow I'm unable to commit to the steps you've listed no matter how long I have to prepare. The speech is never fully ready and I change things so often, I never get to move past the first step. It's frustrating and really wish I could overcome it.

Thanks for simplifying the structure, Kyle. My evaluations used to be messy, and for a long time, I avoided the role as much as possible. This year, I decided to take the challenge head-on. Yesterday, I was due to evaluate one speech. However, after a no-show, I was asked to evaluate two at the last minute. I applied your technique to both speeches having watched your video earlier in the day. I came home with the gleaming blue ribbon. Your tips have given me a new level of confidence! A big thank you!
