People generally cannot conceive of the fact that a black woman can be complex and multi faceted. When you are black you are not perceived as a full human being, capable of all the emotions, thoughts, values, skills and multilayered aspects that any human could possibly have. When you are black you are seen as a colour, only. You are seen as a stereotype and if you behave in any way that does not neatly fit into the social stereotype of what being black means, then you are being offensive to those who demand that you fit into this stereotype so they will continue to feel 'safe' and not have to change their narrow, racist paradigm or belief systems that are not based on truth but on what they want to be true.

I agree with this video. I've been knowing for awhile now that black introverts get treated the worst by white people and more extroverted black people, because we don't fit the typical stereotype. It's annoying! They can't stand for you to be quiet and to yourself🤦🏾‍♀️. Looking forward to more videos.

I was with you up until the 14:00 mark where it reminded me of the limited beliefs of the people I live around. I'm very much an introvert but I am a native New Yorker (from Long Island but I spent a lot of time in The Bronx) living in the South. Much like black women, New Yorkers aren't a monolith, meaning not all New Yorkers are loud. I'm not a loud person, but I don't allow people to disrespect me and I have no issues putting people in their place. Two things can be true at the same time.

You don’t have to agree with anything on my channel it is just self expression. I understand that there are other type of people in N.Y but for the sake of the video New Yorkers like Jamaicans are very vocal more so that Brits. Not a stereotype. It’s a Cultural difference yes there will always be anomalies and people like urself who don’t fit that mould

For over 30 years I really overestimated the intelligence of people... Most of them are shallow, ignorant, narrow-minded and rotten to the core. And nothing will change. They have the upper hand, we are just a minority they suck the life out of.

This is the fifth lady introvert video I have watched and you have done an excellent job. I am a 55 year old male and our experiences are similar. I am the zipped lip of the family, and since I smile with my silence strangers see me as a homicidal maniac waiting to happen. The not black enough used to bother me, even my own family. I cared too much about what folks thought about me, but you can still do what you want in life. I served in the military for twenty years, loved it. Tried a body building show once, a power lifting event, and I have been fixing airplanes for 30 years now. I still keep to myself, I have learned one thing about introversion, it is hard if you don’t embrace your right to be quiet. I tried to fit the mold but alway did things my way. March to the different drum and be happy.

Oh yes when you suddenly have a voice, or set boundaries, it's suddenly a "who does she think she is" moment. Dear God I have that experience also with the assumption that you don't have thoughts and opinions and would just go along with whatever, whenever. Either you're "stuck up" or "you're not confident." ...my goodness I can relate to a number of things said in this video from the workplace to social settings/gatherings. It's only a small handful of people I personally can let my hair down with, and yet they still don't know it all unless it's my parents or husband and kids. In fact, if not for my husband who is comfortable becoming friends and being friendly with people he doesn't know, I wouldn't have developed tactful ways to talk to people without really saying anything especially in the workplace. Otherwise, whatever I say or do is going to be deliberate or calculated... thinking before I speak. Or I say nothing because I simply have nothing to say.

Loved the video..I can relate to most of what you presented..I agree that people get offended just by you being quiet.White people take your q.uietness as rudeness or they think you don't like white people but my experience is that black people are the toughest to deal with.. They really get upset when you don't follow the black group. I'm a loner and on my jobs I stay to myself and I can't relate all the havoc that my black coworkers have visited on me just because I stay to myself.. It is such a problem for me that alot of times at jobs I can't even go to the cafeteria or break rooms because black coworkers will harrass me so I've learned to find hidden places where I can go be in peace.

You're only shy and stuck up though if you look good, dress nice, are attractive. If you are dressed down or basic and not very physically attractive no one is gonna think you as boughie. I love my people, but as a black woman that is "a thinker," they are very annoying, mentally simplistic and friendships/relationships can be very under stimulating when you're out of your twenties. Of course, not allllll. But a high number, esp if you have grown up in a certain environment. I noticed it in my 20s that black people can be very immature (not innately ofc). I was able to deal in my 20s as I was used to being the only one throughout my life that thought more deeply. However, in my 30s I find it difficult to make friends as I tend to be mentally lightyears ahead of my common black peers. Please don't come for me. I don't mean any of this in a superiority way. I'm leaving out a lot of context and different scenarios to refrain from this being an essay. But it can be difficult being a black woman introvert in America as you have to usually find your tribe. You're not born with them as you tend to be an anomaly in your community.

As a fellow black woman who people often call an “introvert” and is in her early twenties i must say, you’re 1000% correct. Especially, the part about being light years ahead of your peers. It’s like you know me and my struggle personally.

Oh I get it... I get exactly what you're saying and I agree... because you're saying my experience throughout my life. Indeed, how you dress, carry yourself, and present yourself AND being attractive makes the difference indeed because it's not expected. It seems it's not typical within black social circles and it's mysterious or intriguing to non-black circles.

A lot of what you say is so relateable to me as a black british woman. It's great to hear this perspective and I respect your courage and conviction for addressing these important issues which don't seem very popular. I'm beginning to conclude that perhaps people feel physical pain if required to use their brains beyond minimal capacity for everyday survival. I think it is obvious and should be openly stated that on top of your intelligence you have the beauty to match, which is so refreshing. Your style is gorgeous in this video, it blends together perfectly. I really love your hair and you have beautiful features and facial structure. All together its a powerful combination and I hope more people will find your channel and take note of your thoughts and observations. The situation in the diaspora is desperate and I feel there is an urgent need for a black cultural renaissance, but not from black America, which like the US in general seems to be in decline. After seeing a movement on RUclips called 'n***as for Trump' inspired by mainstream black male rappers, I definitely do not think that we should be looking to the US for black cultural renewal. It has to be initiated elsewhere, perhaps Africa or the Caribbean or Latin America.

I too hope my channel will attract more like minded black british because the mindset is clearly different. Black American culture has been in a decline for a loooong time. Thankyou for your compliments on my physical appearance. I do believe that we are in need of a cultural renaissance, I believe it’s our job. I’m starting to feel like that label is slapped on any black woman that has any kind of standards. I’m stuck-up just because I don’t like to wear a hair bonnet in public? Oh they can figure us out just fine. Our exact personalities on nonbw is considered "endearing/caring/ determined/focused/ and sweet." You see, we are not supposed to be complex beings (because if you are a complex being like everyone else, now people are to be held accountable for treating you badly and no one wants to apologize for treating us badly). So it's "confusing" when we aren't walking stereotypes because what's the opposite of that? Human. And humans have rights. Rights are to be respected.

The problem I have with that fight scene is they make Nikki’s only problem is that “a White girl stole her man!” Of course had a problem with her ex moving on. She probably would have a problem with the girl if she were Black! They never addressed that she hit Nikki in the back of the head unprovoked! Even if it were a mistake, she could have at least apologized. Instead, she acts all innocent while Nikki looks like she’s prejudiced towards White people.
