Setting Shower Floor Tile to a Linear Drain
Given the light/pollen like properties of mustard algae, even after shocking/algaecide/floculant, vacuuming (even slowly), just sits it back up into the water again. Very difficult to thoroughly vacuum away to waste even after treating. So this is a FANTASTIC idea I will start adding to the process. GREAT suggestion! Thanks brotha! ☀️🙏☀️
I just assumed yellow algae = dead algae and yeah it smashes up real fine when dead. Algaecide works well. Ducks are a big no no.
The ducks found a new pool🤣
Very helpful, also doing this today. ✌️
So awesome the video helped!
Just use “yellow treat” algaecide. Works for me. Don’t believe the bad wrap of adding bromine. Keeps my pool algae free for at least 6 months depending how much it rains. Best stuff on the market.
What about using a piece of copper. That is how I've seen others combat it.
Copper ionizer for pool I did one last year I posted a video just now.. This year I'm using a 2-in diameter of copper pipe in filter about 4 in long
good idea
@@FOROW99I just add copper sulfate every couple of weeks. It’s readily available at the pool store.
UPDATE? How did it do as far as keep the Algee from building back up? I Have a 6000 gall 18 foot pool with a sand filter off a 15000 gal pool So I can move the water. did this work without any chems? P.S. I have not had duck's visit. lol what am I doing wrong... lol maybe a Duck bar?
This helped capture the algae. I still used chemicals to balance the water.
You should look up the Slime Bag. Filters down to 1 micron
Thanks for the tip
You are a genius!! Thank you so much!!
Thanks for the great compliment!
Thank you for the great tip, i dont know how many videos i watch, until you gave me the solution to the problem.
Great to hear!
So you're basically saying use a white T-shirt cut it up into small pieces put it in your skimmer box and start brushing and cleaning the pool so that the algae will be caught up through the filter and go up into the skimmer box and then pull it out real fast and it'll be getting the stuff off the bottom cuz I have a cartridge filter and it's very frustrating I've been struggling badly and I almost want to sell the pool because of it I don't have a sand filter I have a cartridge filter so I can't keep doing it so if your way is better I'll do it your way do I just cut up a shirt and then put it in the skimmer box and let the filter bring everything from the pool to the T-shirt
You can also wrap a piece around the cartridge and rinse every hour or so.
How’s the project going?
It is going well. I had to stop temporarily to work on other things and want to get back to it next week.
No ducks here😮 and brownish dead algae or this algae!
The ducks thing is so funny.
New pennies are not made with copper anymore for anyone who wants to try this at home you would need to use old pennies from at least before 2000.
These are pre 1982 pennies. All copper. Pennies after 1982 may work because the outer layer is copper. I didn't try with the copper zinc pennies.
@@VASconstructioncan you make a video to try that if your pool gets green again for algae
That would be great, yes.
We had to put towels in our skimmer basket until no more yellow. Maybe about 6-10 Towels were looking like cigarette butts 😂 but it worked perfectly. Also shock, drop out flocculant, and vacuum to waste. And don’t forget to add a copper elbow pipe to skimmer basket.
Pools are sooooo much fun!! 🤣
Omg!!! It’s my old neighbor!!! Dusty and I miss you!!! We sure wished you lived down the street here in Florida/ we have tons of work here at our new house!!!!!! But I also have yellow mustard algae!!! lol hope your family is doing well!!!
So awesome! Miss you too!! This video cracks me up everytime I watch it... The working in Florida sounds really good. Thanks for commenting it's really great to hear from you!
Skimmer socks are very cheap
How much?
We got a 24 x 12 ft pool for the kids this year and man, what a job it is. Same thing, chemical balance is good, but the algae is driving me insane. And I need to avoid constantly taking water out, vacuuming to waste because we have well water, and putting new water in and shocking results in brown water due to the iron in well water. After just a few months up I have a serious love hate relationship with our pool
With all the frustration comes that hot day we jump in and have fun with the family.
Can you do more maintenance swimming pool videos. ? Mustard algea problem. How do you balance your pool.
Sounds good. I'll post something.
Good morning Sir, mission accomplished = job well done.
Thank you. This hook has come in handy many times.
I have a house with a similar issue fixing it seems pointless and costly as almost all the wood needs to replaced. I have been looking for crawl space conversion for years, thank you for posting it, if you have more footage plz post it no need to edit :) This might be the only video out there I thought about for long time but did not know how to go about, I have better idea now knowing its possible but there is much I still dont know, do you have to jack up the side walls ? do you do paid phone consults? I might need some guidance going thru my project ? Thanks
Thanks for your great comment! I have much more footage on the way, it will answer many questions for you. Jacking the walls will be necessary.
@VASconstruction that would be great, my house in Arkansas. I don't see how I can jack up the exterior walls since my house has brick siding, I know I can jack up the interior walls. Anyway, thank you for posting this project I will be binge watching more on this project videos. 😀
Don't breath that smoke in..
Why's my throat itchy?
you just brushed it?? no shock or chemicals??
At that time, I was tired of adding chemicals, and the water was not clearing.
You Got It
🤣
I built a solar pool heater for this summer but been dealing with this same algae at the moment. I run my sump pump with a sock tied on and its been working. Also run my robot vacuum probably 15 times through it. Doing the old shirt in the skimmer in the AM.
A heater is on my to do list.
I've never had ducks in my pool, but I get this crap every year! It's so annoying!
Ha, the ducks Crack me up.

Thanks! I laughed so much...
Could you use flowable fill as your backfill instead?
Yes. I looked it up and it is cost prohibitive.
Thanks for video. I’m doing the same repair today
Hope it went well.
It did, Like yours, had to cut off bearing from axle. Must have scored axle little because had to pound new one on. Works good now. Thanks again
I plan on doing the same but I am demolishing the whole house down to cmu. My crawlspace is approx 3 feeet high and 2000sq feet so it is going to take a lot of fill. I want to finish concrete/polish so it works as a finished floor. I am curious to see how your project goes.
That is a lot of fill. Everything is going well. I'm looking forward to my plumbing inspection. So I can start bringing in my gravel.
Damn that floor was absolutely done for... Good that it's gone before someone got a nasty surprise. What's the background? Was it flooded or something?
A flood would have been better. This was water directed into the building by a garden and stuff stored against the building. Drying it out made it very brittle.
Oh man that sucks... I hope it's going well We had the same story with brick and mortar, it took some long weeks
This is so wholesome 😭❤️❤️❤️
I love your hair! Your stylist did great!
Thank you so much!!
Would you help or do the same work i. Statesville nc for a building of 10000sft.
I'm Intrigued.
Thank you for the video. Was a big help
That's awesome!
That was relaxing to sit back and watch.
Cool. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for doing this love from the tubas!!
I thought they would love this perspective.
Thanks for this!!
They love what they are doing, this gives a different view for them to enjoy.
Gorgeous solo work bro! Can't wait for the other videos for the finishing!
That you!
Kudos to you for getting all this done without an assistant!
Thank you.
Great job!
Thank you!
I appreciate you using a handsaw and not overcutting the stringers with the circular saw. Im not a carpenter or even started woodworking myself, but I've watched too many videos and Im glad to see someone to take a couple extra seconds for something that's hopefully going to last a decade or two if not more in the case of framers and houses.
I appreciate those kind words. Thank you!
My dude flipped that board more times than a politician at the start lol
That's funny, that was a lot of flips.
@VASconstruction nice job tho. In the process of buying some undeveloped land and going to be building a homestead. Hopefully before winter.
Im using queen size comforter pieces
That sounds awesome.
I cheated and bought my stringers. Haven't installed them yet.
Saved yourself a lot of cutting, it cost me less to make them but more if I mess up.
@@VASconstructionI remember my Carpenter brother mentioning riser creep. I assume he was talking about cumulative measurement error. In my line of work we called it an expanding standard deviation measurements. Engines just love that! They go to heaven sooner!
great solo job sir, best way to work in peace is alone with a nice small project like this.
It is a nice way to work.
mustard algae eats chlorine, so chlorinating the pool is feeding it, try lowering chlorine level and adding muriatic acid bring your balance down to a 6.8 to 7.0 ph note: remove latters any metals and no swimming for atleast a week this is a basic acid wash with out draining pool it does kill mustard algae black algae qnd all basic algae's most basic algae can be killed by brushing ans chlorine shock this has little effect on mustard algae
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately the pool is clear at the moment. I'll keep your suggestion in mind should I have this happen again.
Glad you are thinking long term. Might as well change everything
It's a good plan.
I ditched my pool filter completely and I use 5 gallon paint strainers rolled up as my filter. Filters at Wal mart turn green
It works
That's great! So many good ideas!
I did this with the cloths you buy from the swimming pool place and it works and triple shock with turbo shock treatment
Awesome!
So the only real expense is buying a ton of t-shirts or thin cotton clothes.
You rinse it with a hose and reuse it.
Great idea, If you have a pool sooner or later, we all have that problem.
It has helped. Glad you liked it!
