From Agony to Hope
In 1992, Pesya Leah Lapine was brutally murdered in her home in Crown Heights. After this merciless tragedy, the Rebbe addressed his chasidim, speaking with heartfelt emotion. He repeatedly mentioned that the children would go through life constantly yearning for their mother. The Rebbe noted that this horrible incident left us with nothing but unanswered and unsettling questions.
Despite these unanswered questions, the Lapine children grew up with the knowledge that they needed to continue their mother’s legacy.

Avremi G, a Brooklyn-based hassidic musician, shares the story and motivation behind the first ever Niggun Riot which he created, and the surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) positive response it received.
My name is Les Pronin. Dennis Lapine and I have Been best friends 62 years.(since age5). I knew his wife Phyllis and was at there wedding in Texas. Then Dennis’s mother called my mother in Texas with the news. There are not words to describe the shock. As Dennis says in the taping, I have to go forth, honor my wife, and raise my kids. So January ,2023 Dennis, his daughter, her children, her husband came to Houston. Dennis and I sat and talked one hour. 4 kids 13 grad kids, and perhaps more it was surreal. And let me assure you that Dennis has not changed. So positive, So full of life, always smiling, never a bad word, so kind, always knows how to cheer you up, I watched him grow up from a conservative Jewish young man, go off to college, become a Jewish Orthodox Jew has been a privilege. Thank You Rabbi LaPine for this what I call documentary. Les Pronin Mrs. Janice Lapine( Dennis’s Mother) was best friends with my Mother. And to see the emotion of the Rebbe!
As I watch this. I feel absolute anguish sadness anger as to what happened. I think this is the first time (perhaps Rabbi Okinov’s killing is another time) the Rebbe spoke so openly and direct about this. There is aprox 15-20 times in this Sicha the Rebbe said the words of מסירת נפש & על קידוש השם. Over n over again. How personal the Rebbe took this. How painful and hurt the Rebbe was. Rabbi Simon Jacobson at the 30th Farbrengan commemoration just days ago mentioned something extremely audacious and powerful. The first Posuk of Koheles. Whereas we can’t ask or challenge Hashem for what he does….. etc…. Just 3 weeks + prior to כז אדר Even if I thought of that. I don’t think I will have the audacity to say. Very interesting very real. Higher and above our comprehension and knowledge. May we merit the redemption with Moshiach and greet all those greats that we’ve heard about. Together with Pesha Leah HY”D very soon.
