    Where is the place with the sake?

    • @timjordabroad
      @timjordabroad 4 месяца назад

      Are you asking about from 6:40 - 8:14? If yes - we walked from Gyokuseninmaru Park to 金澤神社 (this is the name of the shrine on Google maps). It's near Kinjo Reitaku Sacred Well. On the way to kenrokuen garden afterwards, you see Hisago-ike Pond in the video shortly after. We kind of stumbled upon sake shrine area as this was us trying to get into kenrokuen garden as it wasn't a direct entry into kenrokuen following the route we walked from Gyokuseninmaru past the Imoribori Moat. I'm not sure if the road was temporarily closed or we just hadn't realised google maps was misleading that we could do a short walk past the moat to get into kenrokuen. I think the sake was only at the shrine because of a new year festival. I've heard in Japan that sake makers will get some water from shinto shrines then when the batch is made the sake makers give sake to the shrine as an offering. I think we were just there at the right time to enjoy the festivities with locals encouraging us to try haha :D

The fuji pass has fun family activities aswell you can see all these on our videos. Japan Guide is a great website for help planning a trip too :)

    what time of year was this? How did you get from Ropeway to Kegon falls?

    • @timjordabroad
      @timjordabroad 5 месяцев назад

      This was in Winter during at the end of December. We used the Nikko Pass by Tobu. The japan guide website has a google article about this and there is also information on the Tobu website if you google Nikko Pass. From memory there was different buses that were included as part of the Nikko Pass that took us between all the attractions in Nikko. We did this a few years ago and I am not sure if what is covered by the pass has changed since we were there and it could be worth checking. Good luck planning your trip.

      @timjordabroad 5 месяцев назад

      @@janebrown8808in the video we went from the rope way to the falls far away and then kegon falls later in the day. I think you could have gone straight from the rope way to kegon falls though. We wanted to do the further away stuff first. Everything you see in the video is the order we did it and it was all accessed via bus and short walks. It might have changed since then but I'd be surprised if there wasn't good access given it is a very popular tourist area. Good luck planning your trip 😊

    • @timjordabroad
      @timjordabroad Год назад

      Hey, good question. We did this three years ago and the pass might have changed since then. From memory the pass is used as a circular route. We did the route in a clock wise direction starting in Shinjuku and going to Odawara with lots of stops on the way to Kawaguchiko Station in Fuji Five Lakes area. On the way back we caught the Chuo Highway back to Shinjuku. If you google Fuji Hakone Odakyu map this might be helpful to visualise the circular route. When we bought our pass in person we asked lots of questions and got a copy of the timetable just to confirm times and how it all worked and the staff were all very helpful. I would recommend asking in person about your plans with the pass just to confirm it will all work how you think it will. I hope this helps, good luck planning your trip!

    Hello guys, thanks for the video. Did you pourchase the Hakone+Fuji pass? Was it convenient? Do you know where I can find trains and bus schedules in the area? How did you get to mt. Fuji station?Directly from Tokyo or via Odawara? Thank you!

    • @timjordabroad
      @timjordabroad Год назад

      Hi thanks for your message. Yes we got the Odakyu Fuji Hakone pass. It was very convenient to use. From memory I think we found the timetable online confusing or we weren't sure we were reading it right. We purchased the pass from Shinjuku. When we bought the ticket the day before, the shop showed us the timetables which we took a photo of and then used that as a guide. We got a train from Shinjuku to odawara. Then a train toward Hakone ropeway. There had recently been a storm in 2020 so there was a temporary bus that took us the last leg to the ropeway. From Hakone we caught the ropeway then enjoyed the scenic pirate ship cruise. Then we caught a bus (or two, can't remember if 1 or 2) to kawaguchiko station which is where we stayed in Mt Fuji area. On the way back to Tokyo we caught the direct bus. There's a Odakyu map online which shows all the options. I would recommend the day you are on the way to Fuji stopping at lots on the way like you see in our video. We didn't have time to see Hakone open air museum but if we had another day on the way to Mt Fuji that would have been great as well. Good luck trip planning!
