Great vid. My question is would it cope with 42 mp files in lightroom. Focus stacking hdr merging. Been using a 1st gen iPad Pro for editing. Would really like to start using lightroom classic all the best 👍

I have a Thinkpad E14 with 16GB ram, when I run LightroomC especially the Denoise feature RAM utilisation goes up to 12GB.. Will MacBook Air m1 with just 8GB ram performance ??

txt placing is bad on skin because you should leave 1cm to top and 1 cm to bottom free space for background. I am talking as professional graphic designer..

The MacBook Pro performs much better than the air at tasks that use a consistent heavy workflow, short bursts make no difference, like web browsing, emails, perhaps a simple edit removing blemishes . Anything that causes the chipset to heat up over a few minutes the pro with be a lot better with the fans, soon as the air reaches its top temps it throttles! I really want the 16” if I can stretch my budges, maybe get last years m1 as we are on m2 now. I like the extra cooking and that big awesome screen.❤

I have a 5 year desktop that was top tier in its day, 32gb of ram, rtx 1080ti, even simple photo editing with 3 or 4 layers, frequency separation and filters uses up 18gb! 8gb stands no chance doing it efficiently

Does the external hard drive speed up the 256gb model? I’ve been hearing how slow the 256 model is vs 512

I’m torn.. I have the HP envy. 16gb of ram, i7 processor, 1tb hard drive. It is sooo slow.. makes me not even want to do photography. I’m curious how a MacBook with so much less RAM can handle tasks better.

I'm watching this review over a year after it was made. I'm finding more recent videos, made within a month or two of 1/2023, is reporting that the 8gb version is getting really hot running Lightroom for more than 20minutes and having a noticeable difference in performance as a result. Are you experiencing this now that Lightroom is working proper with the M1? I just got the M1 iMac and found there's a huge difference in performance from the fans in the 8 vs 16 model. Does that apply with the MBA as well?

Thank you for a straightforward review aimed at photographers. I traveled in India for a few months and appreciated having such little weight as the Air gives. That was a few years ago and now I am considering a M1 Air. How much computer gear do really travel with? Also regarding cost, I am in California but moving back to Wales next Spring, and wonder if the import duty and other taxes in the UK would or should play to my decision to purchase an Air here in the US and just bring it with me. Lovely channel and now you have another subscriber.

Hi, I am currently working on a desktop ryzen 7, 8 core, 32GB and 1 TB storage. As I need to travel more in the future I need to change to a laptop. I am thinking about going back to Apple and buying a Mac Air M1 with 16 GB and 1 TB storage. Do you think that should be enough for my main machine working mostly with LR Classic, PS and Illustrator. I don't wanna go for the M2 as I don't know how the higher performance without fan will work out. Any recommendations? Should I better go for a Mac Pro or will the Air be ok to do the job? Not really working with extremely large files. Thank you for your help.

I have external Samsug SSD , however, I don' like carrying around external SSD , I think 1TB internal SSD is worth the extra money (and think is also faster than the external ones)

8gb ram is surely not enough if u r a real photographer. M1 is great, PS is great, bt LrC is a monster in consuming resources by importing ard 2XX photos with smart preview opened, your ramn can go as high as 7gb+6gb for swap memory, all the performance will be dogged down espically u shoot on 42M or high Megapixel, there will even lag when u scrolling the adjustment bar So if u r a mid level photo player or above, plese buy the 16gb ram, air model is fine, totally perfect and dont hesitate to upgrade yr ram to enjoy the perfromance on m1

Hello, I just came across your channel. I was wondering what your experience with Skylum software on M1. I have Neo and am wondering what it performs like as on my PC it lags a lot and eats up 6GB of RAM when editing. Wondering if they have optimised the AI to work well with M1.
