100 Faces of Croydon
100 Faces of Croydon is a community-led photography project from London Mozart Players (LMP) which showcases the people and places who make our borough unique. The project aims to create a snapshot of Croydon in its year as London Borough of Culture. 30 local photography enthusiasts have taken portraits of 100 people in locations which represent what Croydon means to them. Two photos of each ‘face’ have been taken: one black and white headshot and one colour portrait of them in their chosen environment.

You right
Hopefully no one will find this offensive but the organ and piano comparison is similar to the queen’s potential versus the king’s potential on a chess board.
Hell no it isn't the same, I can play brass and piano and have played Carnegie... no way i can play organ.
It is my wish to hear this live in the future
I think I'm in love
Very nice!! What a pitty everybody is wearing ridiculous masks.
So is it like a wood wind instrument
More like a flute is a woodwind. A recorder or a traversiere are made of wood, but a modern flute is made of metal. So are the organ pipes, some are built in wood, some are made of metal.
" GENIUS ! "... .. .. " In the true sense of the word ! "🙃😉
I feel a strong sense of jealousy as I watch the techniques each musician has developed to work together and create a symphony. As a music major, I have this intense desire to play in one, but my disabilities have held me back from mastering the necessary techniques on my instrument. I admire every instrument in a symphony and aspire to master them all to increase my audition chances. Honestly, I don’t mind what instrument I play; I just want to be part of an orchestra. I’m currently seeking ways to enhance my abilities by pursuing a music performance degree, which I believe will be beneficial. Share your secrets! I’m constantly practicing, but you all are such an inspiration to me.
Absolutely beautiful!!!
loving the wind instruments in the second movement 🙂 thankyou for sharing this great music..
Who is this and why is she the expert on organs?
Her name is Anna Lapwood, and she is the organist of the Royal Albert Hall (London).
Anna is so lovely

Love it THANK YOU😊❤
Excelente!
A delightful performance of a legendary composition by obviously master musicians. I'm just not sure what the hurry is with virtually all the modern renditions of this magnificent piece. The ears can pick up so much more when this symphony, especially the third and fourth movements, are played at a slower pace. Such a shame to rush through the mesmerizing magic of Mozart!
I actually rejected two other YT versions (Cantata Camerata & Frankfurt Radio Symphony) for that exact reason - if you think this one is fast you should hear them! On the whole, I found the tempi here (directed by the invisible Simon Blendis) to be pretty good - in fact, I felt the finale, if anything, could be a bit more zippy (if they could handle it). It was the “slow” movement, to my ears, where it seemed like they couldn’t wait to be rid of it! But, in general, I know what you mean about modern trends - and not only in this piece, of course.
@@CloudyMcCloud00 Yes, I've listened to them all pretty much, including HvK's and Bernstein's recordings, and they universally just can't wait to get through the piece. Presently on YT, there is a remastered 1960 recording of this symphony by Wiener Phil. under the direction of Ferenc Fricsay--a "reference recording"--that's definitely worth a listen. The problem there is that for my taste anyway, the first and especially the second mvmts. are a bit too slow (just can't seem to win...the old Goldilocks tale! LOL), but the clarity of the remastered work is truly remarkable. And Fricsay absolutely nails the last two mvmts. of this otherworldly composition, to the point of giving me goosebumps and bringing me to tears every time I listen. I highly recommend it!
@@VelocityOfAFallingRock Aha! I've yet to find a recording of this that really nails it - and Fricsay's is the one I have been meaning to check out just recently as I've seen it popping up in my feed and somehow it looked interesting. So thank you for the prompting. Years ago, I acquired Bernstein's "famous" rendition and immediately hated it (wasn't it ridiculously slow, though?). I also have HvK set of "late" Mozart symphonies - and the #40 is the only one I can't get on with (and can't remember exactly why as I never listen to it!). It's a wonderful work of genius, to be sure, though. I should definitely look up the Fricsay! (Just tried the opening of Bernstein with the BSO on YT, btw: a bit slow for me, but only a tad! 🤷♂)
@@CloudyMcCloud00 YVW. Just wanted to add that for me, this symphony is all about mvmts. III & IV. If the conductor misses on either one, it's an automatic "Next!"

Wishing the venerable Doc Carlyle (retired...sort of, we're not sure) a Very Happy Birthday on October 1! 🥂🎂
what is the difference between a piano and a recorder flute ? the piano burns longer 😂 now you can guess the difference to an organ 😊
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Absolut beauty .
If there are any UK dance music lovers out there - I'm here after learning that the iconic speed garage track "Ripgroove" by Double 99 started life as an interpolation of the first few notes of this movement. Really bizarre to here such a legendary riff in it's original context.
IMO way too fast. Loses all impact for me.
Excelente
this is my favorite classical piece ever
Love your hair. First time I have seen it not in a ponytail. Good explanation. We, as organists take it for granted how it works, but many have no idea. The organ is the whole building.
You forgot the piano that have hammers that give sound from the strings a short time. The organ gives sound as long you press the key.
You have a new subscrieber
Beethoven could go to this concert in Vienna and supposedly he did say "we never could made something better than this one"❤
Excelente ejecución del clarinete. Cuál es la nota más baja que tiene ese clarinete?
This reminds me of Nixonverse Antiverse
What a superb performance A really very interesting talk about the concerto as well. Thank you.
