    Excellent footage there. Especially the footage of the 9F. I rode behind her on my first ever visit to the railway when I was only 12 years old. Any plans for to put any footage of Bahamas visit to the railway?

    Thankyou so much for posting this-i am a bit annoyed with myself,i moved to Chesterfield in 2003 but had no idea of its coal and railway history so never found these lines till 2019 when they formed an extension of the transpennine trail. I had assumed locos used in the final view years would have been double header Class 20,as was seen coming into and out of Arkwright Colliery on the relayed GCR at Duckmanton Junction. Just a small mistake i noticed with the video though-the single platform you view on the Clowne Branch is infact the Midland Railway,whearas the double track station and booking hall is actually LD & ECR,and has recently been partially restored with a replica platform edge and steam train outline in the tunnel! 😊

      @22pcirish 10 дней назад

      Class 20’s were killed off on coal trains by the class 60’s and reallocation of other type 5’s in the early 1990’s.

    Oxcroft was briefly reopened for roughly 3 weeks in November 2007 in order to sort through any remaining coal tips in the area, although even by that time Seymour Junction Signal box was so badly vandalised that none of the signalling infrastructure could be used, so all points were clamped and all signalling was suspended and the working was done by pilot man

    'Tyne - drum' not Tin Drum. Tay - nult, not 'newlt'. Loch Etive, not 'Eetive'. And Balachulish is 'Bala - hoolish' not 'coolish'. Cruachan has the stress on the first syllable.

    I used to see the Blackburn shit train every weekday about 8 30 as it went through Central station to Thrybergh for tipping, it once started from the signal on platform 2 with a jerk ,the station foreman was standing by it on the crossing between platforms when the wagon next him slopped over the side and he got an unexpected shower, he was sent home on a tractor apparently to get washed and changed.,this was about 1965 66 time when I worked as a junior porter in Central goods yard.

    What a wonderful presentation of such detail and local knowledge which would probably have been lost otherwise. Of all the 60's line closures this 13 mile stretch from Matlock to Great Rocks is to me one of the most wasteful and shortsighted and when you see what was lost it is heartbreaking.

When the Phil Sayer voice was replaced at Huddersfield, initially there were complaints until Slaithwaite was re-recorded as "Slawit" The new voice was a colleagues.

    I remember going on class 45’s to football, most Leeds United football specials were hauled by class 45’s. When I was a youngan, I wondered what are these locos with the long side panels? The only Class 45 I remember was “The Cheshire Regiment”, It took me and my mates to a Leeds night game, at Sunderland on the 30 December 1976. (we beat Sunderland 1-2) I remember it was a bit snowy that night & there were only about 60 of us on it. This particular loco 45 014 was involved in a fatal accident on 8 March 1986, because of a signal fault, it was scrapped in Manchester later on in 1986.

    Coal in Britain from the 1700s ( horse drawn wooden waggons on wooden tracks or by humans with ropes) to 2023 by a 66 down the Cwmbargoed branch. A fitting end albeit sad.
