Great comments. I have that exact model, purchased in early 1991 in the US and returned with me to the UK two years later. I was working in the States for a couple of years and wanted a tuner with SW so I could get BBC World Service, as well as playing tapes and CDs. It's very compact and, as you said, produces a great sound. Now in my conservatory and I still use the tuner, but tape and CD players are redundant as I use a bluetooth connection through Aux input to link to my more modern devices, eg. tablet, laptop etc to play my music collection.

Not the best circumstances I’m 22 now but when I was 17 I got an MIP. Had to do community service and I chose goodwill🤣 unpacking all the bins in the back on one of my last days someone dropped off some toys. I’m sorting shit out and boom. Marvel legends icons Hulk. The big fucker. Ab crunch was glued but my god it was a good find.

Just got one today off marketplace for free. Everything works, but the tape decks need belts as well.

Back when the JVC Kaboom was new my hockey team all pitched in to buy one, and then we had a draw to see who got to keep it - but was then also responsible for bringing it to our games for our dressing room pre-game jock jams. It's a beast of a boombox; JVC nailed it with that product. AUX is better for fidelity than Bluetooth anyway, and CDs have better fidelity yet.

Alwas loved does jvc. A tip if u seal the ports of the jvc bass wil go lower. If u have the time open you're jvc and seal the jvc inside it wil sound great

I might be biased but the JVC always gona hit better. I've got the older/wider JVC and the bass still out-does some of the newer boomboxes. As a Dance teacher my JVC has travelled the world with me and I refuse to get rid of her, people have offered me alot of money but i will never part with her....she's part of the family and anyone that knows me, knows Juliet (the JVC boombox) 😅😅😅

I bought one of these for a fiver I wanted something that takes batteries for camping AAA batteries are cheap as chips and can be replaced easily.. no worries about charging it.. my grandson loves it and it weighs nothing.. keeps him quiet.. for what it is you can’t go wrong

They used too thick of damping grease for the cassette door. You will certainly want to protect the decal that shows the pattern inside the cassette deck, but you can use DeOxit D5 and spray it next to the yellow gear and work the door open and close. Immediately after application, the door will have almost no resistance at all and may fly open, but do not worry. After a few minutes the damping action will return. The DeOxit will help to lower the viscosity of the thick damping grease and get the door opening easier. Continue applying waiting 30 minutes after each application to see how the door will respond, until the desired result is achieved. Keep in mind though. The decal inside the cassette door will soak up the mineral oil in the DeOxit like a sponge and become discolored if you do not protect it. Other than that, this works great to correct that issue.

This is a great reciever and you will not be disappointed for the remote try look for logitech harmony remotes i use a logitech harmony 525 and it works good i hqve the the rx-v1800 and im happy with mine
