Welcome to Way Up West Outdoors!
We’re the Laughters. Follow along one video at a time as we adventure through seasons not just here in Idaho.
Preparation for all seasons take place year round in our house. Fitness and hard work are the ethos of our hunting style.
Primarily you’ll see us with bows in hand but we aren’t afraid to use a boom stick on occasion.
When we aren’t at our day jobs you can bet we’re in the woods - together. As you could guess, hunting with your spouse takes ample patience. Learning to navigate the well deserved ups and many inevitable downs of hunting has bound us together stronger than our wedding vows.
For the record, it’s not pronounced laughter - it’s like daughter but with an L. 😅

🫡 much respect
What rings are you running in the scope? Alpha 1 mediums?
Sound suppressor's too short
Nah
Loved the bloopers! lol. Liking the videos and your style of producing them! Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing all the hunts this fall. Good luck out there!
Thank you! Trying to keep it real! Haha
Thanks for your review. What is the outside diameter at the muzzle of the original Cross Magnum with steel barrel ?
Have you tried the Bergara MG Lite?
If these were invented by our founding fathers the whole of North and South America would’ve been one supercountry. They’re that good.
Lovely edit
Thank you 🙏
I have one con to share because i have the 16x. is the auto time off which is set to 10 minutes. If you are not aware of this like i was at the beginning its highly annoying to turn them off then back on.
I did forget to mention that. It’s a bit startling when they turn off lol. But I’d rather them shut off when I forget to turn them off and stuff them in my harness. rather than them getting drained when I forget
@@way-up-west-outdoors 10 minutes is such a short amount of time especially you're glassing. I wish the auto stop feature was 30 minutes or an hour. Put a lithium battery in them and they'll last a year or 2.
I haven’t found the 10 min to be an issue. It’s become a habit to turn them on and off as I lower them from my face to reset them. Btw as I said in the video you’re not supposed to use lithium in the binos.
Great video Steve!
Thank homie 🤘🏼
Good information! I just invested in the gen 2’s and am super excited for these to come in the mail just before the season starts!
@@dsrs1010 you won’t be disappointed, it’s what Jess runs!
You guys are so talented! Always love seeing your edits! 💯
Back at ya! Thank you so much!! Really enjoy doing it
Awesome camera work
@@MawsYT thank you! We enjoy it!
i have the gen 1 16x42 then got wowed by the gen 2 20x42. i guess some more wow in store plus swar's upcoming 14x 52 i will be swiping CC like a mad man.
Haha. More wow is a great way to put it. The gen 1s were cool. But Stone Age compared to the pros
Any tripod mounts yet? Or can you attach a arca Swiss plate? Still like to throw my sig on the tripod to really pick apart a hill side Thanks in advance!
@@tylermorine4222 they are working on the mounts for the PROs but they do have mounts for the 2nd gen
Would the 14 by 50 glasses be to much for close range. I mainly bow hunt whitetail in the Midwest and go out west once a year
I would say the 14s would be too tight if you’re in thick timber and can’t see much more than 50 yards. If you hunt more open fields they’d be fine. For out west they are money. They do make 12x42s in the 2nd gen that are still solid. But obviously not the pros. Might be a happy medium?
🔥 This was 🔥
Glad you liked it! Thank you 🙏
Sig ones are awesome, had then for two seasons and they just work.
These new pros are killer!
Anyone else grind their teeth the second this video started and he took a slurp sip and clanked the ice? People eating or drinking mic’d up is never a good idea. Ffs
Grinding your teeth is bad for your teeth.
Nope!
😜
Did it hurt your lady parts too?
Congratulations on your tags. Looking forward to those videos for sure! What brand are your "hobo" fingerless gloves?
Those are from Kifaru 🤜🏼
These are incredible. I have the 2nd gen 16 powers and the innovation that Sig is coming out with always blows me away. Would love a pair of these in my arsenal
You’re not wrong! Incredible people doing awesome things! You just wait to see what’s next 🫨
Love mine! I used Jason’s “regular” binos the other day and was like… how do you see through these freehand? 😅😅😅
The voodoo is insane 😂
Are you sponsored by Sig?
We have done work for them, shot content for them like I said in the video. They have sponsored one of our hunting films. But they did not pay for this review nor did they get any say in what I said.
Side by side comparison with the 2nd gens would be great to see.
That’s a good idea 🤜🏼
That pack does not appear to be used at all🤔
Probably a good testament to Kifaru, it’s 2+ years old and. Been used on half a dozen plus packs outs, shed trips, many miles and many hunting trips.
Take a peak at our last short where she’s packing out her bull. Same pack 😘
Nice will they still work if the batts die? I was wondering on which size myself I am now leaning 16x50 but really need to look through a pair or two Thanks
Yup! You turn it to the off position and the. You just have a normal pair of binos lol
I want these so bad, hardest thing would be trying to decide which pair to get. Thanks for the new update info, Excited to see how the LE Utah elk hunt plays out.
For me I think I could narrow it down to 14 or 16. I like them both. Thanks for the watch!
It’s a company in Japan that makes the internal for Sig and other brands. The interesting fact is that the 14x and 16x both have the same field of view, which is not typical for binoculars but here is due to the prism used in the stabilizing system. the difference is the eye pupil which is smaller on the 16x. So one has to be more precise in aligning the eyes in front of the binoculars. The 16x is probably the best compromise, more magnification for exact same field of view (FOV).
Utah limited entry and Wyo general tag / Christmas came early and Congrats / Look forward to the vids
We got lucky! Someone has to draw them! Feel very fortunate it was us this time. 😀 thank you hope we can deliver 🤜🏼
Do you pack a garmin in-reach or something along those lines?
@@jackarmstrong8269 Steven carries our Inreach mini, unless I’m solo or headed on a stalk or something where it makes more sense for me to have it.
@@way-up-west-outdoors awesome! Thanks for the response. huge fan of your stuff. Good luck this year!
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoy it! Good luck to you!
What release do you use?
B3 Tangent
Can you link those moccasins?
Can do!
good deal
Thanks!
What broad heads are they ?
Awesome hunt you two! Just found your channel. Cheers!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I wonder how many more decades we will have to wait for Sig to make any of these cross rifles in left-handed already
The sister reminds you kids to always be kind and unbone your meat before you pack it out. Bones make it too heavy.
We like to age our meat on the bone if we can. If the pack out if exceptionally far, we will de bone
Curious what unit did u draw? I’m in the same boat I have my limited archery elk tag down there also.
some great ones good luck
Thank you!
Awesome review! How does it feel on the pack? Not too heavy? Really wanting to get one for my elk hunt this fall.
Thank you! It’s within a pound of another magnum rifle you’d get like this. So physical weight it’s about par. But being able to fold it up on your pack makes it feel batter, more compact. Not having to worry about limbs and be able to sit down with it on your pack. Like I said in the video. I’ll never own another hunting rifle with out a folder. So nice.
What pants you using?
First lite, but I don’t remember the model 😬sorry!
Oh yeah. Thank you I needed this.
Happy to help! 😜
i have a nock 30 in 80lbs and its been nothing but problems. have you experienced any?
What kind of problems? We’ve had a rest come loose is the only hiccup I can think of. Not really a bow problem tho.
@@way-up-west-outdoors I got the nock 30 in 80 and it doesn’t hold poundage after a shot it drops down to 75. Same thing with warrantied limbs that took over 3 weeks to arrive then they apparently sent another set of limbs on July 26th they have yet to arrive.
I would be nervous about that shot. Can someone educate me on why this is a good shot I know broadside is ideal and frontal shots can be good to but with his head down would scare me
@@SUNN3Y_ if your uncomfortable with a shot don’t take it, i was comfortable with this shot. I wouldn’t take this shot on an elk, but I know I can go through antelope bone with my rig. Which it did. Lope went 80 yards. This was my target buck and came in a couple times and I waited for him to turn broadside he never did. Drank for :30 to a min. Each time. I had his pattern down and was prepared for this shot this time.
Get some!!
the 2,500$ bow dont make u a good shot, learn with a 1965 super glass kodiak recurve bow, or a long bow with open sights, then move to that expensive Bow,
Nah uh the guy at the bow shop said the more money in the bow and equipment the better the shooter 😘😘
@@way-up-west-outdoors that's because he wanted more money and I know u put that as a joke but u wont stand a chance against any archiery shooter who shoots open sights, especially against James jean
I shot professionally for 7 years with a recurve and it is way harder than a compound bow
@@way-up-west-outdoors btw what broadheads are those
