Would you recommend it for a guy thats new to long range shooting
Hornady is going to have to drop the cost of the ammo for their PRC line up with their 300 Win Mag and 7 MM Mag counterpart. I have a 300 WM and a 7 Mag and don’t see any reason to get rid of either for the new PRCs for no gain in performance. Only the ammo goes up 3 times the price in the PRC club.
Cost of ammo is always rough. And to be fair there are definite advantages to the PRC, to say there is no gain is false. I have a 7mag as well. Love that gun too.
@ It not false. Because there is absolutely no gains in performance. The 300 WM and 7 REM Mag are both faster. They both have way more available ammo. There is no accuracy difference. So no my claim is not false. I shoot Berger VLDs in both my 7 Mag and my 300 WM and they both feed just fine. As for speed I’m getting 3050 FPS out of my 7 with 180 grain Burgers and I’m getting 3180 with 180 grain bullets in my 300 WN with 180 grain Berger.
@ ok. 🤷🏻♂️ the 7prc can be loaded with heavier bullet and push them faster. Along with no belt on the cartridge. I’ve had no issue finding 7prc ammo. No reason to argue in the comments, people who are interested should just google and see the data.
@ The belt hasn’t affected my accuracy or velocity. I also want to make sure I understood you when you said you can load the 7 PRC with more heavy bullets than the 7 Rem Mag. I have loaded up to 195 Grain Berger’s bullets in my 7 Mag. Please explain how a 7 MM can shoot heavier bullets than a 7 MM? I’m not trying to argue. I’m trying to understand. Even all the load data that I’ve looked up shows the 7 Mag to be faster with the same grain bullets. I’m getting 3265 FPS out of my 7 MAG with 168 grain Berger’s and Hornady’s own reloading book says the 7 PRC max load pushes 162 grain bullets at 3150. That’s over 100 FPS slower than the 7 Mag pushes a heavy bullet. I hope people check Reloading books and not just take our word for it. I don’t have a 7 PRC I’m only using Hornady’s own data from their own reloading book.
What bipod are you using?
Atlas bipod 6-9
I am very happy with you ! Lg waidmannsheil from austria
Nice bow but in general I prefer Hoyt made bows
Everyone makes good bows these Days! Something for everyone
Easy peasy solution to the tracks staying on! Get a small diameter say 6” bungee with hooks. A jar is about $7. Hook it to the toe area and opposite heal side. I’ve used this a lot and they don’t come off
I had something like that in mind! Thank you! I’ll try it out.
clean ass bow, love me a PSE
The bow does its job every time. Me on the other hand… 😂😜
W edit 👍
@@Swogfish thank you
I experienced the same issue with insulated boots. I would find myself literally taking my boots off when glassing. I went to a lighter gram insulation and for next year I want to try different socks.
I think different sock might be my next try as well.
Do you know why they recommended alkaline batteries instead of lithium? Can you even use lithium?
The cold eats the lithium batteries, but yes, you can use them. I just double checked with my sources lol. Hope that helps!
good deal
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. The mystery of keeping our feet warm continues. Thanks for the content. Good call on the saw. I’ve seen off-road vehicles trapped from down trees. All the tents on top of their daily driver in the world but walking out with no cell service due to trees blocking the road.
There’s been a lot of people chiming in the comments tricks they use for their feet. A couple I may give a whirl!
How is the trigger? I understand Sig was having issues with them.Is the poundage adjustable?
@@CampPerry1970 it’s a 2 stage trigger and yes adjustable. I liked it out of the box and only messed with it a little. Crisp break easy to get a surprise.
I hunt mountain lions, lots of walking in freezing temps my best trick is antiperspirant deodorant on your feet, it keeps them from sweating while hiking. Thank me later. I don’t hunt without some “degree” on my feet.
Hmmm that’s a new one! I’ll be giving that a whirl!
Kuju coffee - this coffee company went way above and beyond with their customer service towards me. I bought their coffee at Sportsman's and I would encourage everyone reading this to try them out. Their coffee is good, but who they are is better. They gained a lifetime customer with me. On day trips, I like to bring a small Yeti thermos with hot water. At lunch I use 1/2 my water in a Peak Refuel and the other 1/2 for coffee or kratom. I find it simpler than hiking with my stove and warm meals lift my spirit.
Really happy to hear that!
look into mukluks for your feet. , like the comment below, nylons or silk socks to separate the space from your skin, then wool socks
@@daytonbarnett5316 I’ve never liked the feeling of the 2 sock system. But I might have to give it another try.
Here is the biggest secret to cold weather if you have an issue staying warm …. First layer next to your skin nylon stockings and base layer then a wicking layer then wool
Wool will always work the best … the best I find is wool made from Lamas….. try it and if you put a wind stop layer overtop it’s a win win ❤
I’ve seriously struggled with finding something that works for me. The next thing I’m gonna try is gonna be some form of drop leg. I like this but would prefer to have it on me and the chest rig along with a bino harness is a pain. Keep us posted! This may end up being the option I go with. Thanks!
I have a buddy who started using a drop leg this year and was happy! Might be the next thing I play with.
@ awesome! Let me know
I live in Montana. It was a mild November. Not much snow. I hunted with my Keen Water proof shoe boots. I thnk Pittsburgh. Anyways last year started using Kinetrik Gators and wow what a differene. They Trap Air inbetween your pants to ad air insulation. I alwyas for last 10 years use Costco merino wool socks. Just one pair, never let me down.
I love gaiters until my legs get too hot 😂
Uninsulated boots and carry an extra pair of wool socks. While glassing, loosen boots or take them off completely to let moisture out. Change socks when feet get cold and attach worn socks to outside of bag so they can dry.
I think my sweaty socks would just freeze 😂😂 I’ll give it a whirl!
This. And/or add some down booties and you’re good to go
The cold feet thing could be wrong socks, could be the insulation getting wet if not wearing gaiters… there are a few reasons but if done correctly the. Insulated is much better.
It’s def not wet feet or wet boots. And I wear gaiters on hunts that require them. I’d be willing to try more socks. But my experience re warming up insulated boots has been rough.
Were you successful? :)
We were! Go check out the IG to see 🤜🏼
I just found your IG
Good call on the electric saw, super handy.
Solid piece to have 🙌🏼
Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400g insulation + Minus33 (made in US) merino wool socks in Expedition seris is money!!
I have never been able to get along with kenetreks, my feet just don’t fit them. I know plenty of friends who love them. Haha. I want to like them! But I haven’t tried those socks yet. I’ll put them on the list!
One game changer for winter on top of everything you listed is a pair of down booties for your feet while you glass. They pull the moisture out of your socks and warm your feet while your boots get to air out. Keeps your feet a lot warmer. Wish Kifaru would make a pair to go with their Lost Park series 🤷♂️
Alright.. I’ve seen and heard about these booties. These might have to be my next purchase!
@ added them to my cold weather kit a few years back. Youll definitely see the difference your first time out!
I’ll put it on my Xmas list 🤪
Just ordered mine in a 300PRC
I’m definitely not a fan of insulated boots, I usually just run a thicker sock. I will be picking up a set of puffy pants for next year.
Glad to hear I’m not alone! One thing I did forget to mention I think helps a little on the insulated boots are the insulated insoles from zamberlan they are so cheap. But I think they do help a bit.
@ Ive been looking for a better insole for my boots.
Throw some Velcro on the top of the microspikes once you do that they won’t pop off any more. Pretty much every thing that’s in my pack as well man 💪
@@TravisCrusch Velcro is a good idea! Thanks!
Great vid! Also, there’s a typo in the thumbnail fyi lol.
😂😂😂 thank you and thank you 😑 I’ll fix that. New comment generating tactic 🤪
What gloves have you found to be more wind proof?

They are significantly heavier than the HDX
Yup. But still lighter than the normal 15x binos.

In Sniper School We Were Taught Mil Dot Period Because They Wanted Us To Know How To Properly Adjust The Dope On The Scope. This Followed All Throughout Missions After Assigned To 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment To 18 Delta Force.
@@dallasweber7692 i might be confused but you can properly adjust dope with either mil dot or MOA. I also learned mils while a sniper because everything in the military is meters, call for fire, maps, distance etc. everything mils DOES can be applied in MOA.
@ They Just Taught Us With The Eyeball Up Top In Mils. People Yes Can Absolutely Dial In With MOA However Military Sniper Schools Went I Went Through & Have Ever Since Use Mils To TEACH TO REACH Those Off The Charts Distances. Regardless At End Of Day It’s To Each Their Own & That Individuals Wallet Or Purse. Less Than 1% Go Into Military & Only 1 Rarely Gets Into Sniper School. 94% Washout In Pre-Qual Are No Go’s & Don’t Advance To Army Sniper School. Moa is actually a slightly finer adjustment than mils and can reach just as far. Maybe I’m not understanding what you’re saying.

Yes you can
how do you like the sig cross 6.5, been looking at reviews and its super mixed, would like to know your thoughts before i decide to get one, thanks
Been very happy with my 6.5 cross. Have had it for 3-4 years now. I had the old hand guard and switched it for the full arca version. I’d like to one day swap the barrel for a proof, but I have no complaints. It’s Accurate. Pretty light. Folds up easy and small enough that the barrel and stock stay within the size of my pack.
i ran an alien gear attached to my shoulder strap on the pack and hated it,so decided i just needed to be faster than at least 1 of the 3 guys i was w!

Tango DMR 3-18x44 FFP This scope is great has never given me any issue. If you’re looking for a little more budget friendly the whiskey 4 is an amazing little FFP scope too.
And thanks! I grew it myself 😂
@way-up-west-outdoors appreciate the response, I was looking at the whiskey 4, I know you said your cross was around 12-13 lbs I believe, I think w the cross sawtooth w a whiskey 4 and a bipod I should be closer to 10 lbs does that sound about right?

Do not hit the shoulder. These are the most impressive bullets ive used as far as killing ability. They open up hold together and punch fist sized exits. Love them
Sierra has never done me wrong! I was very impressed with the accuracy. Stoked to put them to the true test.
Do you know if they are going to make the same ammo for 7prc and 300prc?
I’m not sure. It let me see what I can find out!
Awesome thank you
No plans for PRC rounds in this ammo 🥸
