Thanks Emiko! -- Brilliant performance of my piece "Bridges" for solo viola by Emiko Yuasa at the Primrose International Viola Competition Dec. 2021 in Los Angeles. ("Bridges" happens to be as well the intro of my String Quartet "A Knife All Blade" - check it out Momenta Quartet). Done in 1995 for BBC's first violist Paul Silverthorne for the Helsinki Music Biennial and later recorded brilliantly on his CD. I am very happy and delighted to hear Emiko's elegant, poised and crisp performance of this complex and demanding 'little' piece. (At the same Viola Competition, another violist, Mathis Rochat, from France, performed this piece as well.) As you can see, even being a "difficult" piece presenting a wide range of new extended-techniques as well as a pretty complex notation/score, "Bridges" is a very intense and sincere attempt on my part to try surfacing some of the viola's "hidden gems."
