Slayers Revolution - Zanaffar's End!
Lina finally comes up with a way to trap Zanaffar so that it cannot defend itself against the attacks! A great blend of spells is cast to finish him off!!

Amazing experience!! Such a great sport! It was my first time, it was a bit painful (splatter yourself at full speed into the water is not the smartest thing you can decide to do), but it was FUN!!

The dragon slave my favorite spell
With re-using Rezo (again, for the - for God sake - 3rd time) and parted Shabranigdo (again, for the 2nd time) Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R just sealed it's fate as unoriginal, repetitive and mediocre (at best) continuation of original trilogy, not to mention TRY wasn't even canon, yet they still made out batter story and villains than the new seasons. Like imagine, You have this VAST world or magic, secret, demons, gods, mysteries and treasures and they couldn't think of something original but had to bring back overused already Rezo and Shabranigdo. Not to mention that the whole "plot" with Pocota's "frozen nation" was nothing new neither, it was kinda overusing the old story from (if I'm not mistaken) 2/3 parter from NEXT in which ex-master of Magic Association made a deal with monster (Gaav's general or priest - I' dont remember it that well - named Saygram) to freeze his dead fiance and bring her back to life. On one hand it was cool to visit again the world of Slayers, it was cool to see again characters we grew up with years ago, but then again it was nothing, but a fanservice over fanservice (sword of light, Naga as Nana - living armor, Rezo, Shabranigdo etc.), mediocre villains, unoriginal, re-used tropes. I'd love to see proper continuation of TRY, to see how some of our beloved characters story arcs are finished. There is no need for said continuation to be based upon canonical stories, it can be based on them, just as TRY was, we would just need good understanding and right treatment of our characters. I'm not a writer, nor a good story teller but it just feels so weird to me that of all motives they could think of while making "Revo/Evo-R" they went with "finding right replacement for Gourry sword" while we knew very well from first Slayers that he actually used a normal sword and used SoL only in critical situations. Why not going with Zelgadis quest of finding a way to cure his body? Why not develop relations between our characters? Like we knew that Lina and Gourry are close with each other, they keep on travelling together for a long time with no made up reason for it (like Lina used to do). We knew that at the end of TRY Amelia ended up doing her royal duties thinking of Zel, while he was on a journey on some wasteland with one of her bracelets attached to his canteen (surely, not just a "friendly gift"). They knew they won't be able to make a continuation, so they made this suggestions for us, fans, during end credits of 3rd season. What continuation did with it? Nothing, they just reset everything for sake of what? Fanservice? Trying to replicate THE and NEXT vibes? I still hope for, if not continuation of try, then at least some kind of OVA or stand alone movie with Lina and Naga. Time is right and won't be better - fantasy genre made a huge comeback with "Sousou no Frieren" and "Dungeon Meshi" - both really great tittles.

The only thing that bothered me about this season was the change in VA for Xellos in english dub. Other than that I enjoyed this season of the Slayers.
With so much time between the two dubs, not everyone involved in the original was still working. Yet, we've heard Lisa Ortiz, Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart and Crispin Freeman in many things since then, which is why they were still available. It looks like David Moo's final voice acting credit was in 2005, and this particular dub appears to have began in 2009. While it would have been cool to have his voice back, it does make sense that he couldn't

Giga Slave is the only anime spell I know that is both a summoning spell and an attack spell.

En realidad creo que fue una oportunidad desperdiciada, podrían haber contado lo que sucedía en las novelas ligeras, con Luke y Millina, es buenísima esa historia, pero prefirieron inventarse todo un relato nuevo (como Slayers Try🤦)y volver a un enemigo ya derrotado y desaparecido. O por lo menos hubiesen enfrentado a otro de los restantes 6 trozos que quedaban de Shabranigdo. Aún así no pierdo las esperanzas de ver a Sherra, Dynast, Mephy y demás personajes animados alguna vez.

Of course since this is actually the ghost of the original Shard of Shabranigdo that Lina already defeated that means there are still six of the seven remaining. At least I think it was seven shards he was broken into I could be wrong.

Whaaat? David Moo was horrible. Too nasally and snide. Xellos is supposed to have a calming, soothing voice to go along with his placid expression. It's his disguise. As for your question...it's difficult to answer. What we see here is the resurrected PIECE of the Demon Lord Shabranigdo. So she didn't kill Shabranigdo exactly...just lessened his soul by 1/7th, I guess? She better not make a habit of it or there won't be any Shabranigdo left to summon a Dragon Slave from.

Dark Star wasn't actually killed, the spell she cast split him and Vorfeed apart and sent them back to the Black World - if it had killed him her power borrowing spell wouldn't work since one of the 4 dark lords would be dead.
@@J.G.H. First off, Dark Star wasn't one of the four dark lords. He's from another reality. Secondly, there are only two Dark Lords remaining. Demon Dragon King Gaav is dead, as is Hellmaster Phibrizzo. That leaves Beastmaster Xelas and...what was her name...Chaos Dolphin? The supposedly insane one.
@@Bluesit32 The Dark Lords or Demon Kings are the four great Devils that are the evil powers of the worlds created by the Lord of Nightmares : Dark Star Dugradigdu, Ruby-Eye Shabranigdo, Chaotic Blue (Personal Name Unknown) and Death Fog (Personal Name Unknown), they are the Demon Kings of the Black, Red, Blue and White worlds - Lina's world is the Red world - each opposing a divine dragon. The spell that Lina uses with the Dragon's Blood Talismans - which I was referring to - " Lords of Darkness of the Four Worlds, I call upon you, grant me all the power you possess" refers to these four, aka Shabranigdo and his siblings. Also Shabranidgo has 5 main subordinates: his direct lieutenant Hellmaster Fibrizo, as well as Chaos Dragon Garv/Gaav, Greater Beast Zelas Metallium, Deep Sea Dolphin, and Dynast Grausherra. Of those Fibrizo and Garv/Gaav are dead. Make sure you're actually right before you correct someone.

I find it strange that Lina is willing to cast the Ragna Blade but not the Giga Slave. Both spells originate their power from the Lord of Nightmares so they should be equally as dangerous. Quote: "My Mind is my power, power is my Mind. When uncorrupted by other elements, my Mind becomes my purest power."
Ragna Blade does pull power but is given a shape, the Giga Slave just pulls power from the Lord of Nightmares, which is why Lina rather cast Ragna Blade than the Giga Slave.
@@trisertricordoh2127 Even if its given a shape, it is still the Lord of Nightmares' power (mind). All is as the Lord wills it to be so it could easily go out of control. A shape is not an element that corrupts it and even when it is corrupted, it's still her mind. In the anime, although it appears shaped, the energy clearly spirals outside the shape as well so that shape isn't doing a very good job.
@@kyled00m Well, the incantation is very different. My guess it draws the excess energy that LoN gives off, which gives the Ragna Blade it's unique appearance. Or it could be that since the incantation references a sword, it might be a spell that LoN made to generate weapons using her power.
@@kyled00m The Ragna Blade is much smaller in scale and is something Lina learns from the Claire Bibble in Next. Think of it as Deku using a fraction of One for All. Lina initially misunderstands the nature of L-Sama, so she assumes the Giga Slave is like the Dragon Slave and just borrows power, but because L-Sama has lost her original form, she exists as nebulous energy, thus the Giga Slave is a full conduit to calling her forth. In OG Slayers, Lina did not understand the true nature of L-Sama, so the chaos words she used to cast the spell were incomplete. That is why Next is about leading Lina to the Claire Bible so she could learn the proper incantation.It's a little different in the Light Novels as IIRC Lina already knows the Ragna Blade and only skipped to the Giga Slave against Shabranigdu because she didn't understand the danger in using it. That's the long-winded lore explanation as far as I remember from the light novels.
@@Cav829 Thanks for the reply. I find it odd but at least it has more reasoning behind it. For the ranga blade spell, I guess it's best we assume L-sama is actively limiting the portion of her power that is summoned and how it interacts with the world. I say this because L-sama didn't want to become the nebulous of energy that (s)he is. Fight-o, L-sama!

It kinda sucks Xellos couldn’t do much to help against a demon lord. He’s pretty powerful on his own, and definitely more than a match for Lina on her best days
Well...he is a monster. He serves Zelas Metallium, on of the dark lords under the Lord of Nightmares.

@@yaboigamerdouji7573 Shabranigdu is Zelas's master and creator. Even a corrupted fragment of the Red Staff's supreme demon lord is way beyond his minions.

@@ChibiProwl I think the lord of nightmares is neutral. But I also think the lord of nights is also the lord of creation and destruction. I think that's why the no entity that is on the power level of the dark lords or the opposing force of them can survive the giga slave. Since that power is drawn from the creator of the Universe I think.
