This version has a plaintive sound, almost a cry. Like the singer is crying out for a reprieve from Jolene's machinations. This is an absolutely amasing cover of Dolly Parton's song.

I think Miley Cyrus' backyard session cover is quite good. She can really sing, has a damn good voice, and when the song is good, I feel like there's a lot of potential there. But I find it hard to believe her as a singer, really occupying a song like this. She his her marks. It's a little like a trick she's learned. I don't quite buy it. I think the priority for her, or the people managing and marketing her, is to be a celebrity. Music is just one means to an end. So, who knows if she'll ever do something interesting. Norah's piano work on this Little Willie's version is awesome. Moodiness. Sparse, but really cool. That Jim Campilongo DOES NOT take a solo says a lot, I think. Her piano carries some emotional weight The timing of her vocal is great too. It's conversational. It's a great, great song, and everything going here more than does it justice.

Challenger Deep is the kind of "believer" they need, he says "god don't need money." Really why then does every "representative" of your god need you and everyone else to contribribute, tithe, etc. to their collection plate? Your god is a farce, and the people who represenent him/her know he /she does not exist but that you need him to exist and they take advantage of that fact.
