I am just a hobbyist beekeeper who likes to share my experiences while I expand my knowledge and Apiary, this is not an instructional or educational channel and I just do what I do. I also like to share some content of our little farm and the animal antics that some of our farm animals get up to, plus my beautiful family. Hope you enjoy the videos and please like share and subscribe 👍🐝🇦🇺

A break from the bee's and spent a day of leisure on our local lake and river but after being out a whole day we only caught the one fish.

Recruited some help today to get through the hive and do the split before robber bees joined in on the action. I also indulged in some more bee venom therapy 🤣😂

Can you tell me why spray your hands please
@@NolaSpiersMitchell-gu5iu I smoke my hands to disguise my human scent, I find it does help with preventing more stings. Most times I don’t get stung but if they are more upset than usual or i accidentally squish a bee then I can be stung. Thank you for watching 😊
2022 color?😮
Ah yeah I only have a handful of hives, just a hobbyist and only have the one colour. Not cost effective for me to buy the whole colour range. Thank you for watching :)
Oh nice apple tree.😁That's a good idea, you can always get a little more later in the season if they do well. I think I may have to try out a top-bar hive some day. 🤔Sure is easier to harvest.😂Thanks for sharing your time with us, Blessed Days...
Yes TBH's are a lot of fun too and thank you for watching :)
Big grass hoppers.😂
@@brettellis1837 very appropriately nicknamed lol
Deer up behind my place samba. Heaps today 34 head wild that is.
@@brettellis1837 I saw a deer in my driveway a few weeks back, no idea what sort. They are feral here in Australia but none the less very cute
Don't forget 70 million in Oz lotto tonight's draw that's alot of bee gear. Lol 😂
There keeping an eye on you 👀
@@Jasper-z7j ha ha yes they are, they can frighten easily
You neighbors came for a visit.😁
@@dcsblessedbees yes I get the pleasure everyday, sometimes up to 40 of them! I don’t run a lot of stock anymore nor do I have a dog so they feel safe around here 😁
Those look like happy bees.😁
Cool😃 hi from central Otago 👋 just set up a new nuc too from a queen breeder in Dunedin, so no trouble with foragers flying home 😂 I've had it in a location I had a strong hive to boost the population of foragers and older bee's because we've had real grief with German wasps this summer, so I wanted to increase the population of older bee's to help defend the nuc. I plug my nucs up with insect screen mesh for a couple of days if I'm moving them short distances in a apairy usually, and I'll have to do it tomorrow with the new nuc because they're not in a location I want them. I've done the old brush in front of the entrance trick before and it works ok, I might do that too with some willow brush. It's cooled down but scorching weather is supposed to return next week, and I really don't want the new bee's bottled up, they're from a much cooler area of NZ on the coast, I'm right inland as far inland as you get in New Zealand😅. love your hive doctor nuc, I've got a couple too. They're really good for transferring splits around, I've got a couple of sites that are difficult access so it's wheelbarrow or carry things in and out and those hive doctor nuc boxes are great👍 we've had a fantastic nectar flow season this year, no dearth drops between flowering, been getting decent rain at perfect times so it's a fantastic year to grow nucs for us. Things were getting a bit dry but we've just had a day of light rain right at the trouble point. Great video ( I subscribed too)😁👍
@@Manuherikiabeekeeping ok some great tips thank you. Thank you also for watching and subscribing 😊 I will be returning the favour 👍🇦🇺
Hi from across the ditch 😂in central Otago southern New Zealand 👋😃 i just spun out a few boxes of three year old Crystalised honey 😅 for one of the hobbyists I'm helping and i would have cut, crushed and warmed it normally when it's like that 😂 but he needs drawn comb in his hives so i had to do it the hard slow way😂 not a bad result though i got 80% of it out but its like trying to extract icing sugar 🤣
@@Manuherikiabeekeeping oh gidday neighbour 👋 So how did you manage to spin out the honey then, you still would have warmed a little I assume? Oh what a job 🥵🤣
Thanks for sharing your time and your bees with us. Blessed Days...
@@dcsblessedbees and thanks for watching, blessed days back at you 😊
I haven't checked out a top bar hive yet.
@@dcsblessedbees you should 😊
Fun time of year.😁
You get around DC😂 How's the snow going 😁👋
How many hives do ya run.😮
Your top-bar hives are beautiful. Well done
@@bennybeekeeper thank you very much, I love them and thanks for watching 😊
I haven't ever used one of those style of hives, they are pretty cool.👍
@@dcsblessedbees yeah I love them and no heavy lifting
I like your opening, you have a very beautiful home. Thanks for sharing, Blessed Days...
@@dcsblessedbees thanks for watching, speaking of where are you watching from?
I think they are happy bees, good bit of orientating though.😁Could just bee a graduation class on that one, honey bees getting promoted. But I have only been keeping bees going on 4 years now so I am still youngish.
@@dcsblessedbees yes I thought orientation in the end and no swarm developed. This my 4th year also, thanks for watching
Good morning/Evening.😁This is how I get my honey bee video fix during our Winter. I watch you all down there, thanks for sharing. Blessed Days...

Очень интересно, хоть и не понятно
thank you, what isn't clear though? the meaning of the video or quality?
How's the hand doing? Ty for your video, Blessed Days...
Fingers are repairing reasonably well, just one finger tip now that is still touch and go. Thanks for asking :)
@@cheryleesbees Glad to hear its healing well. Have a wonderful Day/Night.
How's the fingers doing? Was rippin a 2x6 the others day and it tried to jump on me, got me thinking of your fingers. Was it a table saw that got ya?
Yep it sure was, happened so damn quick I am still wondering why it happened, there are also NO witness marks on the timber that kicked back with my fingers 🤷♀️ anyway they are healing well, just one will take months though. I see myself as incredibly lucky to still have my fingers 😊
@@cheryleesbees must have had an angel lookin out for ya glad to hear its healing well.
Ouch, painful! Hope you get a full recovery.
Thank you :)
As a retired contractor of 20 years, saws always win :) They are still there and work so that a good kind of saw mishap :) speedy healing, Blessed Days...
Thank you 😊
What did you do to your fingers? Sorry you got stung.
Building another top bar hive, was ripping the starter strip slot on one of the top bars and table saw somehow kicked back and got me lol. I have a whole new respect for table saws now
All your top bars look so good 😊
Thank you again as do your horizontal hives 🙂
That is some great news.
Not sure why I am only just seeing your comments, anyway thanks again for watching :)
Why you make this video 🌷🌸🌺💮

So beautiful seeing the white combs with bees all over them. Thank for the update.
And thank you for watching :)
That is a great design for a top bar. Every time I see your hives in action it reminds me I need to start building me one. ASAP!!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful hives.
Wow they were really hanging out on the landing boards to stay cool.
Yeah it got to around 32C and was pretty humid
Nice catch!!!!
Ty, I have put them in my observation hive that I made, I can’t wait until they get going so I can sneak a peek. BTW great work at the conference, I have watched a few vid’s and looked like you did very well 👏👏
Those hives sure looks fun and the colony looks great.
I find all of this fascinating, such clever and intelligent creatures, all busy making one of the world most delicious foods. 😋
Great video! Thanks for sharing and I hope you are well :)
Thank you and yes I am well, happy new year to you and hope you are well too :)

thank you and happy new year to you and family also :)
Simply beautiful!!!
Glad you like it!
Fabulous experience.
Almost like a Nuc top bar to catch this swarm. So cool!!!
yes your spot on, built that for our top bar hives
You have hives all over your beautiful farm!!!
yes not all mine though, the area where the langstroths are well those hives belong to my son. I built one of his top bar hives too :)
@@cheryleesbees The top bars are so beautiful!!

Thank you very much!
Beautiful farm and animals.
Thank you :)
Nice top bar hive!!
thank you, built them myself.
@@cheryleesbees how long have you been building your top bars?
@@horizontalbees around 12 months now but I can not take credit for the design, I got the plans and timber for my first hive from Adrian Iodice @Beekeeping Naturally www.beekeepingnaturally.com.au/natural-beekeeping/the-kenyan-top-bar-hive/ who promotes the Kenyan hives. I have since built 4 of these hives, the last one I built has an observation window. I'll put up a short vid on them later. Thanks for subscribing :)
@@cheryleesbees Thanks for the link, I will check him out.
Hoping to build a top bar hive in the spring. Do this hives swarm a lot?
I am relatively new to beekeeping, approx 14 months so I couldn't really comment yet. I know so far my management plan is to make sure they have space by removing any excess honey and seems to be working, not seeing any swarm cells yet. This particular colony is very strong with 24 top bars in total. Hope this helps
