Stealing this idea from Andrew “Ender” but after this most recent random draw event, he was talking to me about what could be done differently. He said that if both teams used the same dice draw. So both Tier F players play the same role, both Tier A players play the same role. Etc. The biggest complaint/excuse was that some teams would get a bad draw and lose a match. Thats part of the fun of a random draw definitely. But if both teams used the same draw, you would still get the randomness aspect, but you would also get another step of fairness introduced.

Ender Here, Love the podcast and listening to other enthusiastic people talk about lasertag. A couple of points in no particular order: - I am totally down to do an interview of some kind, I think that would be super fun - Loved the tournament and the energy there, everyone was super helpful when I asked for advice and super encouraging - Stats do definitely not paint the full picture, but they are fun to look at regardless. I know mine were inflated both by being on a winning team and drawing 3 hit 17/26 games

Regarding Dysco on an A team, he was on the Sac A team in 2019 at the Detroit Nats. This was after our site closed, but he would have been on my selection list anyway--for that Nats, I believed I was selecting for the "best in slot" for each position on our team, and Dysco was definitely our strongest Scout. Only the closure of the Sac site precluded him from being an "A Team" regular in my opinion.

Just a slight thing. AlexBoxes is correct lol. It’s an inside joke from Cuse since Alex used to be the one who always put up the boxes that covered our windows. So he’d walk in to tag and we’d just be like “Alex! Boxes!” So he just changed his name to that haha

For me the funniest (non Pokémon related) moment of the whole tournament was when someone came out saying “WE NEED EXPERIENCED REFS FOR THIS ONE” and went to where Dysco and Oddum were sitting and took Dysco and said “WHERE ARE ALL THE EXPERIENCED REFS?!” I was just rolling on the floor laughing because they’ve been playing sm5 exactly the same amount of time. They probably didn’t know but I was dying 😭👏👏👏👏👏

Everyone's arguement about pods stems from the same idea, get everyone better games. I think we can all agree on that. I'd make the arguement that getting everyone better games is never going to happen at 4:00am. People are just too tired. Pods will never give you ideal seading into finals either. Anything other than full round robins just isn't fair. Just cut the games played. Do 1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8 and send everyone home to go to bed so they are more rested for finals and can get better games. You don't even need to count those smaller pods games towards finals seeding or stats.

So the only wrench in Snufflez's "Beanz will be in Finals" bet is the provision in the Floor Rules: "For a player to be eligible to compete in any finals game, they must have played in at least 50% of the preliminary games."
