I return once again to dispense my commentary before returning to the void. Glad you enjoyed the fight, debatable whether it's worth speeding through the rest of the game to see it but I admit I'm a sucker for lore. It's worth noting that Martlet's dialogue on the roof is LOVE-dependent. There's dialogue for LOVE 1-2 (which you saw), LOVE 3-5, LOVE 6-11, and LOVE ≥ 12 (Aborted Geno). When Flowey kills her, if your LOVE is 1-5, she sounds genuinely hurt, confused why you would "betray" her, while if your LOVE is 6 or higher, she darkly remarks "I should have known..." You didn't miss much by choosing not to FIGHT during Phase 1, clicking the button does nothing. I appreciate you catching on quick that the 'positive' ACTs restored your health, and that you were supposed to shoot the red stuff. You did remarkably well getting all the way to the final phase without dying - most of the people who do this boss panic and miss what they're supposed to be doing. I think it's heavily implied that those talking gray flowers are supposed to represent Flowey's subconscious. Memories of when he first woke up in the garden as a flower, alone and afraid, unable to feel ANYTHING. The final "What have I done" probably refers to the start of his genocidal tendencies, killing everyone and everything just to know what happens. Also LMAO at you instantly being sus of 'dream' Martlet. Looks like you spotted that 1 frame where her face F's up as she hugs Clover too. And Clover. Poor, poor Clover. The game drops a lot of hints that he didn't have the best life at home, and he jumped into the Underground on a whim - whether to finally have some control over his life, or to feel like a 'hero' and make whatever abusive parental figures are waiting for him love him again. No wonder Clover's Determination is so weak at the beginning - he abandons his quest for JUSTICE damn-near instantly as soon as he meets Toriel. And he would rather stay with Martlet than go to fight Asgore. Kid is just desperate for love. And Flowey would rather tear him away from those happy endings to use him as a tool in his own twisted games. However much you hate that POS flower, you don't hate him enough. I agree that this is a pretty hollow 'ending,' all things considered. Could be a commentary on the nature of justice, and how you can't take half-measures. The only definitive endings to this game are where you go ALL one way, or ALL the other. Makes the Geno route even more tragic, if you headcanon that Clover remembers previous routes. In order to not just become another cog in Asgore's extermination-of-humanity machine, in order to escape Flowey's disgusting cycle of death and control, he has to throw away every ounce of compassion he has. Sacrifice who he was as a person, in order to become an avatar of JUSTICE. 💛 "With enough strength... can you change fate?"

To answer your question, the reason Flowey couldn't do anything there was because Clover's determination was now stronger than his, meaning Clover was now in control of the timeline, and over the power to save and load (hence the text at the save point changing to that of the OG Undertale). By the time you fight Zenith Martlet, Clover's determination was already strong enough that he could resurrect himself to fight again (Hence why it's Clover speaking during the game over screen, not Flowey). I think the theme they were going for is that a Human's Determination increases the more strongly they're attuned to their SOUL's trait. As the Geno run progresses, Clover becomes increasingly furious with every monster that attacks him. These monsters slaughtered the 5 other humans for their SOULs, to be used as weapons to escape their prison and destroy humanity. Every monster he fought was an enemy that could have potentially killed the next human to fall down here. Every enemy just reinforced his belief that all of monsterkind was complicit in Asgore's goal. After killing Martlet, Clover had fully attuned to his sense of justice, essentially becoming a walking avatar of JUSTICE 💛 itself. And Asgore? He. Is. G-U-I-L-T-Y. And on top of it all, this is the only route that lets Clover escape his horrible fate. It's honestly super refreshing to see a Geno take that's actually fun and genuinely morally grey, and makes you think about whether it was worth it or not. I'm of the select few that doesn't really like the original Undertale's Genocide route. Purposely bad game design is STILL BAD GAME DESIGN. Sidenote: Congrats for making it all the way through the game and getting to Phase 2 of Zenith Martlet as a leftie (I was wondering why you seemed to have so much trouble dodging until you mentioned that). Glad you were able to find an app to remedy that, even if it was at the very end of the game lmao (In case you're wondering, you're right that the Neutral route doesn't really have much that you haven't already seen, although the final boss is completely different, with a ton of lore that gives a whole new context to the game and Clover as a character. But it's up to you if you want to try it out.)

the new update to dog's ai makes me feel like infernum is straight up impossible now. He 2 taps you and is insanely fast. I legit have anti social on and stacks of every buff in the game and it ain't enough. Not sure what they were thinking with that one tbh

I just unequiped my gear then while he was swiping at me with his fists I reequiped. He was so pathetically weak it was hilarious but I kinda felt bad for him.

Nice work you’ll get it eventually also a tip if you put the wizard NPC in the hallow biome he will sell you the rod of discord for I think a platinum and I think you can keybind it so you can instantly use it idk didint work for me if you have the alchemist NPC which is from a mod he’ll sell you a rod of discord potion and I think that will work with the keybind I don’t exactly remember will soon tho bcs I’m about to replay the whole mod again ugh
