ETS2: Basic guide to def file editing
In this video I give a quick demonstration on how to def edit a simple item (name plate) to work on a different truck than it was originally designed for.
There is no guarantee that def editing will work as you want it. It will allow the specific part you want to work on a different truck but due to the positioning of the hook ups your part may not sit correctly.
If this is the case then unfortunately nothing can be done about that unless you know how to use blender or another 3d modelling tool.

In this video I explain how to find accessory part names using both the developer console and also by reading the accessory def files. I forgot to mention this in the video, but unless you're rainman youd be best to have a method of taking note of the part names. I usually use my phone and just take a picture of the screen

Hello, every time I try and save the game through the tool editor I get this error message that says, error occurred during processing save file. On the first line of the error message. On the second line, it says probably new\ Updated Save formatted. Then on the very bottom of the TS SE tool page, it says file not decoded. Could you please explain to me what I might be doing wrong? The tool recognizes my profile in the game, but every time when I try and save something that I edit I always get that error message. Thank you, anxiously waiting for your reply.

Unfortunately not. It would need to be completely remodelled in blender

@@mk4_w4g0n thank you. I didn't realise it was quiet it sounds ok when I listen back but I'll boost the volume up a bit in the future
@davescott86 it's not the worst once you've turned the volume up, and also would you be able to do a tutorial on trailer skinning e.g flat bed and tipper or is it the same as the normal curtain side
@@mk4_w4g0n the principle is the same. I've not done a skin for flatbeds but I'm sure you could create a skin and then skin the accessories like the side bars/pallet boxes etc. I'll maybe have a play about with it and then put a video up once I'm familiar with it.

Also, in this sisl mega package, there are 3 flags on the side windows. EU, GTM and a sisl mega package flag. I want to add a Turkish flag. Where will I find this in the sisl mega package? I will add a Turkish flag on the sisl mega package, but I don't know where it is in the file. Turkish flags in the big flag and flag folder. There are but they are from a different places
I will look for these and get back to you. It may not be allowed as there is a flags DLC already which should contain a Turkish flag
@@davescott86 I found what I said, the name was side flag, I was able to add the Turkish flag on the sisl flag.
Hello, I subscribed to the sisl mega package on Steam. If I download the zipped mega package from outside, will my work not be visible because it overlaps?
In the link in the comments is a file which contains the textures that you can customise. As long as that file is above the sisl megapack in the load order it will load up the items you have customised.

How do you do it on a tandem skin
The principle is the same. For the truck just add parts to the accessory Def of the truck skin. And trailer accessories in the trailer skin

the file doesn't see to be dowloading as a WinRaR file for me even though i have it installed
It's saved as a .SCS file which is the format for SCS games. Although it ends .SCS it is exactly the same as a .zip or .rar You can access the contents by setting winrar as the app to open it.
weirdly I dont have a back flag option, does it depend on what truck you drive?

@@davescott86 to be clear the back flag is there in the customisation folder, i just cant see it in game when adding the accessories, driving a Scania S btw
