I fortunately met Indian Roma when I joined camel safari in Jaisalmer of Rajasthan, India. They were so beautiful being blown by the wind of desert of Jaisalmer. They lived in simple hats and seemed to earn money by playing their songs or maybe by dancing as well. A moment of big rush in a train in India

This is a sitting coach of a local train of India. I was traveling from Delhi to Agra. When we were reaching next station, the passengers started rushing to get off. They were pushing each other and some were even quarreling. Here in Japan the train is always overcrowded on peak time but people don't make noise like a festival. It was so fun and new for me to be in a train like that.

Please change the title. It is possibly that you are not so well educated about Roma, though you have good intentions. There are no Roma in India. Roma are a culture and ethnic group found in Europe who have their origins in India. There are many tribes of peoples in India who are related genetically to Roma of Europe but their language, culture and names ect is Indian and not Roma. Roma are not recent immigrants to Europe but have been in Europe for around a 1000 years. Many Roma of Europe and Americas do not identify themselves as Indian but rather European or American though they are well aware and proud of their ancient historic origins in India. It causes Roma many problems in Europe when people keep saying they are Indian since it isolates them and puts them in a situation where they are easy scapegoats. You would not call a German in Germany who has never been to America and has lived his/her whole life in Germany as singing "A song of American in Bavaria, Germany". I work with India tribal communities as well as Roma educational programs to help people understand Roma culture and people. Though these are just words and titles unfortunatly they also cause people either misery or joy since the world is not as enlightened as some to look beyond. thank you
Thank you for your comment. Actually it’s been a debate with people in this channel about this title. The initial title was Gipsies song but several people told me its not right to write like that. But now I feel Roma isn’t right, too. I need to think about better title for this. This is a video I posted 11 years ago but its nice to update for sure. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this!
Hello, thank you for changing your title of this video. Greatly appreciated. As much as it may have been not correct for you to originally put the wrong title, atleast the good thing is that people may have clicked on your video to maybe realize and learn that there is a Roma and Indian connection. So sometimes an innocent well intentioned mistake can serve its own purpose. Thank you and best wishes

I’ve always loved yoga and kriya and India imports store and then I found out us roma come from Rajasthan. Our language is very similar, not much changed just lighter skin! It’s wild how my Indian tastes dominated my European likes and interests. Even the food, I have issues eating anything that isn’t dal ahahahaha.

the left girl in yellow (not woman in yellow) is my indian sista ;) bcause she has a face like me BEFORE i was 12 years old and my cousina looks even more like her (with 12 i began to look more like elvis presley from the 50s i heard that twice) but my skincolour is diferent from that girl cause i'm from europe i'm 25%russian 25%chuvash 12,5%gypsy 12,5%hutsul 25%crimeagerman. and i knew how rajastan looks before i even knew something about this region, i was 6 years old when i sat in a car i had kinda a short flashback mentaly like i was there in this region and saw some women, possibly from my other life, only later in tv-reports i saw how it looks in rajastan and then i knew it (i think i also felt this athmosphere/spirit of rajastan in a place in kazakhstan when i was 6 at a patato grown region). i actually can feel 3 spirits of times/places where ive never been, but only really sometimes: 1.rajastan/india 2.mid-80's in miami or hong kong i dont even know exactly 3.around 1800-1850 in europe. maybe i lived there in my other lives, idk, the feeling or spiritual connection was always too far away to realize it completely

I have never met a Roma in my life but can understand 50 percent of their words. I am from Rajasthan, living in Hyderabad.
Maybe some Roma. There s one thing you have to know. Today Roma are divided into lots of Subgroups. For example Sinti and Lovara in germany and neighbor countries , Calon Spain, Portugal, Carribean and Latin America, the Romanichals in Great Britain and USA, Kalderash, Gurbet, Machvaya, Arlija, Cergar, Korahane on Balkan Countries, Ruska Roma in Russia.... :-D And the Romanes/Romani Dialect of the Roma subgroup is everywhere a bit different.

Most Roma groups of Europe like Lovara, Sinti, Kalderash, Gabor or Calon have a strict moral codex like high caste indians. Even Roma can become outcasts if they break Romani rules. Most Roma groups have courts and Rightspeakers

Katholic Roma from Sinti, Lovara and Calon Subgroups visit Saint Marie de La Mer in France one time in the year to worship Sara la Kali (black Sara) Its said that this comes from india when Ancestors of Roma worshipped Goddess Kali but Roma became christianized in Europe.

Interesting. Those kids have half brown, half blond hair. did anyone notice? I have seen a lot of pics of rajasthani kids with such blonde hair on flickr, but nowhere else in india even though they are darker than many indians...
I noticed. My people (maldivians) thought to be descended from people from Gujarat rajestan and Sindh many of my family have that coloured hair even the eyebrows and eyelashes although our people are little bit fairer.

shree prakash Loya You are right but Vera is not false at all. Roma in europe are similiar like Jews but not because Roma are jews. Roma are ethnic indians but got friends with Jews as we were persecuted together. And some Roma intermarried with Jews.

That's not correct. Gypsy is an insulting, racist name given to the Roma by other people. They call themselves Rom or Sinti, but NOT gypsy, so we shoudln't use this term.

I can understand their one fourth words. I am from rajasthan but live in Hyderabad. They have many Rajasthani words too like thalle for down, tati for hot and so on. Kako and kaki. laklo and lakli, chhora, chhori. ciuri(chhuri) for knife and so on.

i agree with you, my friend. do you know many gypsyes are discriminated because they lie, cheat and lots of other things in Europe? i know and i agree that the original gypsies from Rajasthan are better persons and they earn their money by doing legal stuff: dancing, singing, taming snakes, etc. in europe certain things made them change their behavior towards societies that sheltered them along the centuires and then they began living all by themselves and using non-gypsies for money. thanx.
