Yes it does, I have seen pictures out of the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea where a "rebel" is using a woodland flc and canteen pouch to carry ammo and things.

I’ve heard that the Rangers still used “outdated” gear like the Vietnam era jungle fatigues and OD uniforms and accessories (especially in Grenada). Could this be a case of the rangers using the “outdated” Gumby (marine core slang) style rubber smelly jackets? Thanks for commenting!

@@froginthewaves8450 From 1973 to mid 80’s, we worn the Vietnam era fatigues and jungle boots. Honestly, they seemed to be better made than the early years of the BDUs.

@@froginthewaves8450 The Gore Tex jackets were new and just being fielded. I believe we were a test bed for Gore Tex jackets. The ones we wore were more fitting for jungle ops because of the bright green in them. However, we did wear them in Germany, during Reforger and in the Italian Aps. We were also issued Patagonia for layering. Thanks for the response.

I feel like the Vietnam fatigues were better than BDUs for the type climate we were actually fighting in (South America) it wasn’t until 1984 until they came out with the first generation of 100 percent cotton ripstop hot weather BDUs instead of the 50/50 nyco temperate twill mix. They were good for winter camping before they broke. However I found that after prolonged activity they were too warm and caused my feet to sweat. However during moderate and static activity they were perfect. I am now looking at some faradei winter boots to replace these boots. Thanks for commenting!

I don't know what exactly you are trying to ask but in 1984 they came out with the 100 percent cotton bdu and in 1994 they came out with the 50/50 nyco bdu. So form to date 1984-1994 is 100 percent cotton and form to date 1994- now is 50/50 nyco.

@mig2127 yes there is a way. Look at the contract tag in the lower right/left side behind the lower torso pocket. It should give who made it and contract number. for example, DLA-95 would be it was made to from the fiscal year of 95 to whenever that contract expired. So it could have made in 95,96,97 etc or at least that’s my understanding. Same thing with SPO, SPM etc. Checkout my 3 types of bdu video for more information. THANK YOU FOR COMMENTING!

Thanks, one of the reasons I started posting some of my Russian stuff is because I wanted it to be easy for normal new people to get information. Most groups that are into this stuff like to gate keep (ish) information and don’t make it easy for new guys to learn. @@froginthewaves8450 That whole “gatekeeping” in Militaria collecting has been somewhat of a recent phenomenon that I’ve noticed, especially on RUclips or Facebook and Reddit groups. I’ve been reenacting / collecting WW2 German since 1997 when I started at age 16…..there was an occasional asshole that didn’t take me seriously or treated me like I was stupid, it honestly wasn’t very often, but often enough to embolden me even more to never treat anyone else like that. Now that I’m in the position to give advice and information to rookies, I’m extremely accommodating because I think it’s really cool to find other people that are interested in the same, semi obscure subject. I’ll sometimes get very easily answered questions, not requiring but a few seconds on Google, but I won’t snap back with “ buy a book” or “google it” , because that’s just being a dick. I get gatekeeping to an extent but realistically chasing people away because they overestimate their importance and resent anyone that didn’t find the answers the same way they did….well that’s just not me. Ok … I’m done ranting.

I have a flora winter Afghanka coat. OG solid tan afghanka jackets are hard to get and are usually listed at an exorbitant price. However, I have been looking at some VSR-93 and TTSKO ones that have been showing up recently. Super cool stuff! I heard that afghanka parkas are usually seen in post Soviet spaces as homeless attire similar to here in the US with our m65 field jacket.
