    I’m not sure if I’m the only one with this opinion, but I think this car has aged very well. There are times when I see this on the road and I can’t help but think how fresh it still looks in 2024. Certainly some cars from the 2000’s aged not so gracefully, but the Lexus IS has aged quite beautifully. Timeless.

    I daily drive an old Camry, and my experience with my local Toyota dealership has been awful. I paid 140 bucks to get my car serviced and my car came back 5 hours later with the service light on and my tire lights still on. They said it was cold out so the tires got uneven, which is Bull crap because im a lazy bastard and drove into the dealership with uneven tires. When I asked about the service, a guy at the service desk said the oil looked brand new (which im skeptical about since I didnt get my oil changed until 8K+ miles) I still don’t know if they actually took a look at my car. For all I know my hunk of junk is still running on dirty oil and I’m down 140 bucks :/

    The only thing it lacks is the straight line speed that you can get in some of its competitors in this price range.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1 6 месяцев назад

      0.4 tenths of a second to 60 slower than a Supra tested at elevation. The Supra was tested by me and another staff member at 5,000 feet elevation and the fastest we got was 4.3 seconds and the base Cayman was tested at 6,000 feet elevation and it got 4.7 seconds to 60. So yes it is slower in a straight line and my staff member would choose to buy the Supra over this Cayman because of the drift capability, however I could care less about the 0.4 seconds and I would buy this Cayman over the Supra with its superior build quality, handling and mid engine driving dynamics. However what I would really spend $60k on would be a previous gen 981 Cayamn GTS and not for the power difference but because it comes setup for dual purpose, as a track weapon and a great daily driver.

    • @volsboy672
      @volsboy672 6 месяцев назад

      @@CruiseControl1 But there are lots of cars in the same price range that would embarrass it in power and torque. How about a Jag F-type, Corvette. I'm not sure a Supra is all that special to begin with. If you go by 2024 prices the Caymen is over priced and underpowered. If you are looking at used ones, the Jag F-type has some good/great prices. Funny thing is I'm looking at a used Caymen for myself. It comes down to what a person likes the best. I am the type of guy believes there's no substitute for displacement usually. Plus the sounds coming from V8's leave most 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines sounding weak.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1 6 месяцев назад

      @volsboy672 I have owned big fast V8 American muscle cars and they are great. I have driven the c5, c6, c7 and c8 vette and I have liked each variant. I have driven well over 1,000 cars at this point. The car the stands far and away above them all was the 981 Cayman GTS 340hp flat 6 naturally aspirated, PDK. I raced it on track and it was a damn scalpel, so precise and yet you could drive home comfortably. Nothing I have driven has been so dual purpose. Though the fk8 type r was close for being fwd. you are correct that each car person will buy what feels right to them and that’s why we get so many choices. For me and my money the 981 Cayman GTS is damn near perfect. Now I also have a budget and for right now the 981 Cayman GTS does not fit in that budget. So I own an NB1 Miata and it’s fun at any speed, weighs only 2,299lbs, has a hard dog roll bar, exceptional 5 speed manual, hydraulic steering with actual steering feel, lsd and is just a fun experience.

    Due to a few reviews , comments and discussions on forums about interior space in the is250 I was a bit apprehensive about fitting in. I'm 6 foot 5 - 93kgs slim dad bod build 🙈 and I fit comfortably, there's plenty of adjustment in the seats. Very relaxed driving experience with little but of poke/ pull. From research they do have issues unfortunately. 1. Carbon build up on headers (direct injection) 2. Sticky / melting dash & interior panels. I'm sure some owners could elaborate on others . Considering buying one - car tax In Ireland 🇮🇪 is high 1080euro per year. Great review 💪

      If you ever have harsh shifts have your ecu checked they tend to get hot and burn the solenoid drivers. That is the biggest issue that I am aware of and other than that they are very reliable. Good to know that a person that is 6 foot 5 can fit comfortably though.

      Absolutely an ev is fantastic for daily driving duty. I have driven every generation of Miata and while all are great in their own right I prefer the NB for me. The NC weighs a bit too much and some of the character seems missing. The ND is light again but the steering has next to no feel. The NA is great of course but I find the NB to have most of the character of the NA while having a little more power, chassis improvements and a little more modern interior.

    I just ordered a grey MT GR86 (basic) and was told I should get it around February 2024 (I'm sure it will be delayed but that is fine). I'll follow your exemple and have them drop the drop the pan a few times early at the beginning of the car's life. I do not intend to track it so I should be able to enjoy driving this car. Hopfully with all this RTV bad press, I figure Toyota made some corrections by applying less RTV in some areas. Thanks for the video.

    I have a gr86 sitting at 2,600 miles and I was wondering when should I take it to the dealership? I been pushing the car but never tracked it. It has just been my daily driver but likes to push the car sometimes.

      I took mine it at 3,000 miles and my first oil change was at 1,000 miles.

    I drove my 2008 IS250 for Uber and Lyft for one month. I felt like it was blasphemy to drive such a nice car for rideshare. So...I bought a slow 2015 Toyota Corolla for the rideshare gig. I kept my IS250 and I think it's pretty luxurious. Faster and more luxurious than the Corolla that's for sure!

      Thank you for sharing. I’m sure the gas mileage is a big bonus on the Corolla for Uber and Lyft.

    Toyota and Subaru should be looking forward to a Class action suit pretty soon. They need to man up and admit there is a problem and FIX IT for current customers, and more importantly FIX THE MANUFACTURING process applying too much rtv - that simple. The GR86 is a great IDEA of a car and I hope the 2024 by Toyota STOPS THE USE OF SUBARU ENGINES !!! WTH !! Toyota makes their own engines !!! Put a V6 Toyota turbo in this thing and call it good. Very disappointed in Subaru especially. Very. Very.. Very. Disappointed. Not going to be a Subaru customer any time soon - and I grew up with the early Subarus.

    I’m looking to get my first car. Looking to buy a used Kia, think I’m set on the Optima. For as old as it is, it seems to be an excellent car, plus it’s actually pretty cute to look at

      Great looking car and it should make a good first car. I would recommend having it inspected by a mechanic before buying one and definitely stay on top of oils changes every 3,000 miles.

    Sorry to hear your bad experience, I am taking del of my GR86 2023 this week, your experience is kind of scaring me but all the research that I have done, ppl said that RTV wasn't an issue for everybody, I guess if your car was build on a Friday or on a Monday first thing lol. Also the key fob malfunction happened to my Mercedes GLB so it happens I guess Good luck and I hope I get a better made vehicle.

      Congrats on getting your brand new GR86! I love the car and would have kept it if the dealership experience was better. If you decide to have your oil pan dropped to look at your oil pick up tube, I had mine checked at 3,000 miles. If you are going to track the car I would recommend an oil pan baffle plate to stabilize the oil supply. Hopefully your car has 0 issues and your local dealer treats you the right way.

    At around what mileage should I take the car to the dealership to remove the RTV I’m buying one soon and it has 6 miles on the clock.

      I took mine in to drop the oil pan at 3,000 miles and it was full of RTV. If you track it I would look into a baffle plate
