I moved to Nome Alaska 6 years ago, never seen a shovel like this before, everyone in town has one. It is the best snow moving invention ever
Your mittens seem pretty warm. Where did you get those from ?
Great. Very Informative. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Finally used mine that I purchased second hand for 10 bucks, today. Zero strain on the back. Four car driveway. 9 inches of heavy wet snow. No issues. I did make two passes, halfway through the storm. Even with the real heavy slush stuff the town plow leaves at the end of the driveway. Best 10 bucks I ever spent.
👍 awesome thank you
They use those in the U.P.
Thank you for this video, I am new in Canada , an it took me a lot of time to clear my drive way 🥲 I’ll Hope do it better with this technique
Amazon has a few that are somewhat similar. The prices range from $70-$274. I just searched and ACE h/w has one for $65. I'm getting one ASAP. The roads are still frozen, and my tread is bad. It's still there, but it ain't summertime 😁
Nice! And here I thought I was a genius for coming up with this before searching for a video. With a terrible back, I need all the help I can get ! I'm definitely going to buy one. Thanks for the video! Edit: I was so excited while watching that I only made it 1/3 or less into it.
I like to spray mine with silicone before starting to prevent it from sticking. Especially the wet slushy stuff.
They work great for wet, heavy snow, which can be hard on snowblower belts I have a large deck that's low and has no railings, so this works great in removing that extra snow
I would always take the next pass half the width of the shovel. It may take more passes. But, you will not have the snow going over the sides of the shovel...I wonder how this would do in heavy wet snow or the compacted snow you get when you take off the roof. If this worked for the compacted snow. It would be a game changer for me...
On my way to buy one of these. So fed up with crazy city power that makes a huge ridge right at my driveway with even 2 feet of snow so non of my snow blowers nor a regular snow truck can clear it and Bobcat owners know how to charge you (Can't blame them leaving the machine useless for 8-9 months a year). This thing seems really good for that heavy icy wet ridge at the property, main road junction, and the rest.
This is great, should've found this 10 years ago 🤣
I have a big snowblower, but I still love this thing, perfect for medium depth of snow. I use this 90% of the time, occasionally bring out the big one for a snow storm. Everyone should have one in their home.
Epic. Mine is coming today. Got about 2 feet coming. I won’t be screwed again like I was the last time with a big storm.
I'll stick with my single stage snowblower
Thanks for the demo. with that driveway a snowblower would be great (probably not as good for your cardio thought :) )
nice, thank you
I have used this shovel for more then a decade. It rocks. North midwest heavy snow. Still don't own a machine.
Thanks for making this video, Matt! (Or should I say _younger Matt...?)_ 😇 I have a question: My sleigh shovel *broke* last evening. I was occasionally tipping it left and right to dump snow, and the two plastic ring areas at the top of the shovel snapped off. So, instead of there being two 2"-long supportive tubes at the top of the shovel to hold the metal handle tubes, there are two broken-plastic stubs. We tried epoxying it back together, but that didn't hold. It seems to work okay just to push the handle bars down a little further -- although there is a slight piston-like motion there when I'm pulling or pushing with the handle. I may try jamming something in there with the metal tubes, like tin foil or cardboard to help them stay put. *Does you have any experience (or suggestions) regarding this kind of repair?*
🇨🇦my dad used these for years. In the 70s. Peavey mart. 65$ full price. But I found three in the garbage this summer. Perfectly good😊. Took it as a sign from dad. 😇
I just bought one very similar to yours at Canadian Tire and we had a bunch of wet snow last night. It worked perfectly, much easier to shovel snow and the best part is once the shovel is full of snow you just sled it to a dump pile and as such don't have to strain your back lifting the shovel full of snow. Also because you don't have to lift it, its size is pretty big and fits a lot of snow so that makes the job a lot quicker!
The snow looks powdery. How does it work in a heavy wet snow? Where I live we rarely have powder snow.
I’ve owned a blue Garant sleigh shovel for several years. I rate it a 9 out of 10 product. My only complaint is that the shovel’s metal blade fell off last year and I could not find it! (I would try and glue it back on). Garant used to sell replacement blades a couple years ago, but not any longer for some reason.
Wisdom!
Thanks for the video I seen a shovel like this on a commercial for alcohol and I said where did they get the shovel forget the alcohol. Thanks.
Honestly I think a snow blower will get that done a little bit faster I use a Toro power clear my Toro power cleaner will get that cleaned up a little bit faster in my opinion because I run a business on snow removal and landscaping and I don't have time to shovel it like that so I just use the snow blower and just blow it all into one side
it's like doing a bench press or push up, grabs large volumes of snow, slides it like a wheel barrow, and dumping it is slightly lifting !!!! also plows if needed !!
best video ever.
The problem with this shovel is few people are willing to exert themselves. That said, they work extremely well for those that aren't completely soft.
Wax your snow shovel so the snow doesn't stick. Also , better to work in reverse if the snow is heavy and wet so that you don't pack it down before shovelling it .
When my snow blower died, I used this to remove massive amounts of snow from my driveway. The snow pile I built off the side of my driveway looked about the size of a car and probably weighed close to one. It's amazing to move that much weight in a relatively short time with a plastic sleigh shovel. Using a regular shovel would have destroyed my back.
Nice video! I think I’m going to get rid of the snowblower and replace it with one of these bad boys. Good and healthy exercise, and more room in the garage 💪
Please do!! I bought this tool in 2007, and it has turned my snowblower into an antique!
are you in the North east United States. Really good demonstration!
Unbelievable!😁👋
That's understandable, Thank U 🙂 4 sharing 😂👋👋👋!
Unbelievable!
Nothing against this video, and I know a lot of people love this 'snow sleigh'. I bought one with high hopes based on all the positive reviews, and used it for several years, exactly as he demonstrates. Bottom line: I came not to really like it that well. It's extremely large and after deep and/or wet snows, the bucket often fills up with a load too heavy to easily move farther along. Therefore you have to get it to the side of the driveway to dump it, which is not an effortless procedure. Also, for any 'precision' shoveling (tighter spots), it is quite unwieldy. Just my two cents. I have now found my ideal shovel combo.
I’ve been using the snow blower for back to back snow falls.
@@mmorano98 For huge snowfalls maybe that's the best. (I don't know b/c I've never used one.) Nice job on your video, by the way. You've very likable in it. All the best.
mine catches too much on my driveway, i ended up using my old shovel. after watching this video i see how this shovel can be used to relocate piles of snow tho... thanx
Colorado's Gary Hart? I did not know he was doing diy these days?
6” of snow dropped last night, 12” is supposed to drop tonight. Why didn’t I know about this shovel before now. Ugh
Just ordered one. Friends in VT told me about it. Can't wait to use it. Thanks for taping this.
That could also be a good shovel for beginners
I live an urban area can this shovel be suitable
Yes but it’s not designed for steps. It’ll work on any flat surface.
@@mmorano98 I’m a beginner so are there like any other shovel that may not require lifting and braking your back
@@Frananula don’t know. Sorry
Finally! A shovel that is engineered to dump snow in your neighbor's yard! Awesome!!
That's his property tho...Also, much more control that a snow blower if a place to move the snow is a problem. I have a postage stamp yard that I pile minr up in. It melts by mid May usually.
the shovel has been eliminated by the snow plow with wheels you don't have to lift the snow if you use a snow plow just push it and with a dual angle snow plow you use the same energy you would use with a snow blower at a fourth of the cost here's a video of one being used Ivation Dual Angle Snow Pusher - Manual Push Plow ruclips.net/video/iOqUAqsHHKU/видео.html
Ok! I’m going to try it. Thanks!
Regular shovels are like spoons for collecting snow after using this thing. The sleigh shovel is the only damned shovel you'll ever need!
Just bought mine thank you.
Enjoy! Well, sort of.
Why not get a snow blower? I got mine for $100. I didn't watch the whole video so I'm not sure if you answered that or not?
I have a snow blower. Sometimes it’s easier to use the shovel and get some exercise. I save the snow blower for big back to back snowfalls.
@@mmorano98 Fair enough 👍
Excellent video. Does it work on snowball made by city run snow car? each time city car clear the lane and it creates snow ball like blockade in front of my garage door. Do you think this shovel can push that ball easily?
Yes. I think it will handle that. Just bought a new shovel. Old one tore at bottom of bucket after 5 years of heavy service. Snow blowers are faster but I can shovel driveway very fast and don’t have to bother getting snow blower out of the shed. Get a little exercise too but not kill myself. I’ve moved massive chunks of snow with this shovel relatively easily.
@@mmorano98 Thanks. I will definitely get it. Happy new year 🎉
