The reason for the extensive flooding and damage is actually simple. Deforestation, extensive and unplanned expansion of home building, concrete driveways, garbage throwing into culverts, streams and rivers and the type and location of home construction. Where else is the water to go if it can no longer penpetrate the soil? There are other contributor factors as well but I will not touch that through this medium. Roger, St. Lucian by birth.

Meridian is not safe! I lived 40 miles from there off I-20 East...and hated to drive thru it... Of course, the armpit of Mississippi, Jackson, is 50 miles west of my town on I-20. Lose, lose situation all around. to stay safe, stay away from these cities...Scary places!!

Wow! When I was teaching at Middlebury, I enjoyed coming across into New York to drive in the Adirondacks, and often skirted Lake George on the way back. But I never knew about this scenic gem. I can’t go back, so this is a trip I plan to take again in the future. Thank you for sharing!
