You know that containers sometimes contain things other than their standard category, right? Like, I'm pretty sure I have found matches in kitchen cabinets, so even if you can't take food it might be worth checking them. And first aid kits can contain sewing kits (tools) and energy bars (food). Unless you are going by a rule that you can't take anything from a container of a lost category even if the items are from allowed categories?

Dunn, 1 minute after correctly rejecting a candy bar: "I can take the food!" **takes all the food** Dunn, less than 30 seconds later: "Can't take the water..." **still doesn't realize** Another 3 minutes later: **finally realizes at a random moment** 🤣🤣🤣 you're all good man this was just hilarious to me

Question, are you going by an unspoken rule that anything inside a first aid box counts as first aid for the game show even if it's not? Because when you had gotten everything right except for first aid, you rejected a sewing kit in frustration, even though it's a tool, just because it was inside a red box. And often you just don't look in them, even though they can also contain tools (sewing kit) and food (energy bar).

Honestly the cheat death usually feels harder than starting over. Id only do it in a long long term run.

Oxenfree (and the sequel) are both good exploration games without combat and with a good story, similarly Dear Esther, The Excavation of Hobbs Barrow and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. They aren't particularly similar to TLD though.

My theory is that the Stim is coded such that it's supposed to let you sprint no matter how tired or encumbered you are. And they just coded it to be "disable all sprint restrictions" which happens to include sprinting backwards. That would also imply that they restricted the ability to sprint backwards manually, which is interesting.

The coal area outside the forsaken airfield trailer also respawns, and is one of the few areas in FA where you can reliably restock on coal, which you will use a LOT of in that cold, stormy region. Speaking of stormy regions, I find the trailer in Keeper's pass South essential. I've never gone through KP without getting your daily blizzard, and always end up needing to wait the storms out inside it, also useful for curing those wolf hides and guts you'll get from the wolves that are often between you and your path forward. Heading from PV to Blackrock, it's also the last trailer you can rest in before Blackrock, with a lot of blizzards to wait out, most of which, you'll only have the ruined cabin or the pickup truck to shelter you from. For me, that's the most important one out of sheer necessity. Without it, Keeper's Pass would be impassible with all those daily blizzards. Oh, did I mention a blizzard a day in Keeper's Pass? Expect that, and expect to NEED that trailer to wait them out. Oh, and the Keeper's Pass trailer has a workbench. One of the few, the proud, to boast that. And it has a fire barrel out front too. Perfect for keeping that outdoor fire protected from the daily blizzards.
