SpeedTwin 1200 2023 model Weslake Shorty Pro Exhaust (Slip-ons)
This is the installation and sound check of Weslake shorty pro exhausts on Speet twin 1200 2023 model. The sound is fantastic but unfortunately it is a bit of difficulty put it on and the engine management light turned on after all.

Foot peg position ruins it for me
Did i hear squeaky brakes? I thought they had cured that issue with the new model.
@@bloodrunneruk71 unfortunately its still ongoing. 4k miles on it
The only thing I don't care for is the front gauge. A bit plasticky. I wish it was a little larger as well, but the simpleness of the design is very well done. (I'm talking this year's 2024)
Thanks for the video, I was just wondering, I have bought similar exhausts for my T120, Weslake Don’t make them any more for this model and I am interested in the DB killers and how they fit into the exhaust. I don’t want to drill any holes in the exhaust so do these just fit with a grub screw into the can internally?
@@michaelspike2819 yes, the DB killers for my model held with one screw and it comes off easily.
Many thanks I will order a pair and try them.
Why that car start beeping?
Dude it sounds fkin horrible
You change gear so much, slip the clutch more, much smoother and easier. You upset the bike changing gear whilst leaning
Nice ride! What color option is that?
Super motorcycle, fantastic sound of the speedmaster ,and wonderful London tour - thank you!
Just got the same exhaust system and fitted on a 2024 Speed twin 1200. I didn't had any of the problems that you stated in your video. Left and right exhausts fitted perfectly (no forcing or adjustment necessary ). Until now no engine management light on the dash. I'm really pleased with the exhaust, definetely best bang for the buck
Glad to hear that, I remember I reported the issues back to the manufacturer, a few others reported the same in the comments if you check, probably they sorted out the issue at some point. As for the light, it disappeared automatically as I put miles on the bike. Enjoy!
Bloody lovely colour im taking my new speed twin out friday if it doesn't rain and you were so right about the new tyres in the wet also ive heard the metzeler arent the best in wet weathers either il soon be getting some Bridgestone on 👍
Congrats, I'll change then asap. I had a few skid during rain on low speed even
Hahaha yuck sounds like the demons growl Gandalf wouldnt let past....
Great choice !
I bought motone decat and motone x pipes. Gotta put them on my speedy after hearing this....
Hello again, I decided to bother after all and they went on with no problems, perhaps the right hand bracket has been slightly altered? Anyway thanks again for the upload, I am running them with the CAT in and baffles out, plenty loud enough and haven't stopped smiling since !!
Thanks for this video. I want to order the same color. Just waiting for a test drive and then trade in my Honda Rebel 1100.
Did you let the engine idle until the cooling fan kicked on and off?
this is a matter of putting miles on the bike until the ECU gets adapted. Usually people misled by "idle run until fan kick off". But I read a lot about the ECU and it gets adapted by miles.
@@ben.aka.bigben Thats right it works on euro 4 but makes no difference to euro 5
Don’t know that I would have traded a Speedmaster for a Speed Twin. Both are amazing but I think the Speedmaster is way more comfortable.
In terms of comfort you are right. I traded comfort for excitement and I didn't regret it.
I’m actually really happy with the way my 2023 1200 sounds. No need to change. But everyone’s different. You do you.
I agree. It's pretty quiet when you're at a stop light, but as soon as you really open up the throttle and the engine is under load, it ROARS to life. I love it.
I am considering 3 bikes The Speedmaster The T120 & The Speed Twin Can i ask how it compares to the speedmaster and which you prefer please.
In short, It totally depends on your age. If your are above 45 you'll enjoy SpeedMaster better. Under 45 go for speed twin ;) hopefully you got what I mean. For youngsters speed twin is more thrilling. Everytime I was on speedmaster I felt I'm 10 years older. The only thing I missed about it was the cruise control.
@@ben.aka.bigben I am almost 50 !! Is there a big difference in power
Hi Ben, I have the same bike and have fitted the same exhaust. I also had issues fitting these. I struggled the get them to seal correctly and kept finding that I would get a slight leak from the join. I’ve only ridden it a small amount so far, so not had any issue with engine management light, but did you ever get your the bottom of what was causing this and did you get it fixed?
Hey, the engine code went off and it wasn't 3 cold start as many said. It went off by putting miles on the bike. The good things about Triumphs are the adaptive ECUs so it got adapted to the exhaust. as fo your leakage, get a proper sealant and seal it properly I would say.
All sorted now. Went for a ride today. Need to try it with out the baffles now
Hi Ben, I took the baffles out today and notice on start up after, it really struggled. Did you notice it struggling to start when you first removed them?
@@Whe173 hey mate, on one occasion it happened the bike almost shut down during low rev ride. But only that and never happened again. Let your ECU adapt to it by putting miles on it
Will do, thanks for coming back to me 👍
A LITTLE SHORTER; MORE MANEUVERABLE IN THE CITY TRAFFIC. FOR PASSENGER RIDING; I'D GO WITH THE T120 IN LOCAL CONGESTED AREAS. .
Only clowns type in caps 🙄
LOVELY BUT LIKE SOME PROTECTION WITH PANNIER BARS TO PROTECT MY SEAT. FROM LOCALS AND TIP OVER. GOOD TO HAVE A REAR RACK JUST IN CASE A BAG. BEER SHOPPING. - ANYONE ???
Turn caps off ffs 🙄
Lovely bike. Congrats.
Cheers, thanks
Why everyone talks about performance in these kind of bikes? If you want performance you get a Speed triple or similar. These bikes are made to be all-rounder but i won't call it a performance bike to be honest, neither the ThruxtonR is.
Not necessarily limited to speed. With these kind of bike you want more torque and a better airflow usually results positive in it. At the end of the day that engine is made 1200 for a reason.
When you put the turn outs on did you have to reject it
Promo-SM 😅
Where did you bought the exhaust system?
I have just installed the same exhaust on my 2023 Thruxton RS, came with spacers and fits and sounds great. I also used an exhaust sealant past when fitting the slip on to the bike. I left the catalyst in place and removed the baffles for what I consider to be the perfect exhaust sound. 👍
Speed Master 1200cc in London 20 mph zone STRANGE 😮
I've been interested in these as well for my 2023 ST900 and wonder if I will have any fitment issues as well since the 2023 models are Euro5 which now have the exit headers from the CAT welded on where in previous years they were clamped on. I am also wondering if it is common to have the ECU fuel management light come on when only replacing exhaust silencers? I've watched what seems like a ton of slip on exhaust videos over the years and this is the first time I'm seeing notice of this when the CAT remains in place. Has it been resolved yet? How are you feeling about these Weslakes at this point?
The Engine management light disappeared after some ride. ppl say its 3 cycle of the bike getting warm and cold again, but I think it just comes with miles. The lovely ECU will adapt itself on Triumphs. The exhaust sounds fantastic and I will keep them on. the only issue was to tackle the spacing on the right side. I would say check and agree with the supplier to make sure its 100% compatible else you should be able to return them.
Great video I was going to change mine but I will stay with standard pipes/x.pipe and air filter mine sounds good enough for me 🇬🇧👍
Glad it helped, the bike as it is doesn’t sound bad at all, the only thing made me change it was to be safer on the road. Cheers!
The spacing between the swinging arm and the silencers is an issue with most if not all ST exhausts, even the standard silencers move on the rubber rear mounts. The only thing that stops them moving is the joining clamp which feels like it has to be over tightened to stop them moving, a small tap on the side of the silencer with the palm of your hand will tell you if it is tight enough. The right hand side is definitely a problem area as my standard silencer rubbed on the bottom shock bolt when the suspension compressed!
This seemed to be an issue for sometime as other commenters said as well. I wonder why they haven’t addressed it. I reported it to the seller though.
Ha Ha! Famously, the last Bonnevilles to come out of Meriden also needed their exhausts hit to align them.
Thanks for the video, I was going to buy these but don't think I will bother now. Hope your bike is sorted and running ok.
Glad it helped
Not like you can be disappointed trading a Triumph for a Triumph but I think the Speedmaster is the better all round bike.
I would say that's very subjective. The Speedmaster was giving me a good level of comfort and the cruise control was a trophy. But I wont regret it since SpeedTwin has features and characteristics I really enjoy. For me it makes me feel young. I'm not sure how to explain it but SpeedMaster is something I would enjoy more when I'm above 45. I wanted a fun twin engine and I was thinking about a KTM 890 while keeping the Speedmaster. The idea of getting a speed twin sparkled suddenly to have both package of classic and a fun twin in one and pay lesser insurance and other fees.
I traded my T120 for a new Speed Twin, and yes, it rained! You need to be very careful in the wet, because the tyres fitted at the factory, whilst great in the dry, are not too great in the rain. Also, fit a rad guard and a fender extender to make up for the criminally short item that comes with the bike. Buy a Go Cruise throttle lock and you are ready to go! They are a bloody good bike. Enjoy!
Rain and speed twin is a thing I guess. Yea in fact I was searching for a throttle lock and saw a few. I'll get one since I'll be riding long hours
Yes a cruise control or throttle lock is something that once you try you cant go back no matter how good the bike is.
Totally agree 👍
Congrats on the beautiful bike. I just wish cruise control was available, even as an option.
Thank you, unfortunately that's being missed badly on long rides. Specially that the bike hast a slightly sporty position to it
Your new bike is a thing of beauty for sure! The green tank is subtly understated and classy. I have ridden the ST and it has all the power a normal human being could want with superb handling. Keep us updated on how you get on.
Thanks Fredrick, all 3 new colours were available including the older orange. This was classier as you said. Will do, cheers!
It always rains on new bike day , love the speed twin .
Cheers, thanks 🙌
What made you go for the Speed Twin?
Many reasons tbh, I always had an eye on it. Even the day I bought SpeedMaster I was really indecisive. I love the look of it and I wanted a fun twin cylinder bike. Speedmaster is amazing but made me feel a little older if you get what I mean.
@@ben.aka.bigben ok I see.. i have always viewed the Speed Twin as something of a compromise between a naked bike and modern retro... a little like the Z900RS... not full retro, not full naked... somewhere in-between... I'm sure it's an absolute performer but it seems counter to the laid-back feel of the Speedmaster, which is why I asked.
@@thepodbaydoorshal that's exactly where they wanted this bike to be, a modern classic or neo-retro as some say. overall no regret at all.
@@ben.aka.bigben Awesome... You can't really go wrong with any of the bonnevilles...
Mobarake agahye Ben
Thank you sir!
Love that blue tank.
Now that you have removed the cat and went with straight pipes you need to retune the bike. Reach out to Drop A Gear in the USA. He did his and it turned out wicked smooth and fast. The dyno runs where smooth and gained 10hp/10torque.
Nice 👍
Beautiful color! Do you still have the bike? How has it been?
The bike been fantastic. Absolutely no issue with it
The best bike to ride around London. So many people!
I read from some of your previous comments that you changed your bike back to the original pipes, but jeese it is loud in this video. The noise could shatter shop and office windows, make children cry, silence a brass band, crikey that was loud. You would be deaf in no time if you didn't have good ear plugs! I would ride through the Blackwall tunnel several times. You'd probably attract a lot of attention from the police as well. Probably would fail a roadside noise test by some margin meaning you get a big fine and told to fix it asap or prohibition riding it.
These are not original pipes. These are a British brand which makes them identtical to the originals. The sound is fantastic at the right spot to my liking.
Aghaye Ben!
Looks amazing in the blue. Looking to get back on a bike eventually, will definitely check this out. Enjoy.
