Bandmates Gerry and Chris met through a mutual friend. At the time, they were both working as lawyers and were reluctant to meet each other (who wants to spend their spare time with a lawyer?), but they ended up hitting it off and decided to start Wax Owls based on their shared love of music. The timing of their meeting ended up being more impactful than either anticipated. After his professional mentor committed suicide, Gerry realized that life working as a lawyer at a high stress law firm was utterly unsustainable and unfulfilling for him. Gerry decided to quit his big law job and covert his home office into a makeshift home studio. “It was a scary move but I don’t want to look back on my life and regret not having the time to pursue the things I love. It felt serendipitous that the same day I put in my two weeks notice, our song “By My Side” was played on my favorite LA station, KCSN, and “Set It Free” was played on the Canadian radio station CKJM.”

Been listening to this song on RUclips music. I went to go look up the guitar tabs for it and couldn't find it. Then I realized that Wax Owls doesn't exist in Ultimate Guitar.
