I owned one, but it was not a "Sandman". The Sandman began with the HJ. Mine was a GTS HQ panelvan, 308 motor, four speed with a slippery diff.

I remember seeing Eloura Road above the beach at Cronulla just being a long line of Panel Vans parked parallel, rear to the kerb with the back raised looking out over the ocean. Sandmans, Fords and Chrysler Drifters (my favourite). I think the Sandman had the goods with it's interior. When interest in them died, they were being sold for a song. I which I'd had a large chook shed on a property somewhere so I could buy and store them all. I couldn't afford the insurance on one now.

Looks like you could fit a big block motor in that engine bay cheers.

Finally a Coupe that is decent . NB washer bottle mounted pump was an upgrade . Correct PCV system a HQ /HJ version , Correct tailpipe length ,tips should be level or extend up to 50mm behind bumper . Great car Master cyl brake pipes not even close . NEVER use modern bundy tube no where near rust proof as original

Base model Kingswood sunvisors ,,Front bucket cloth inserts ?? GTS steer wheel ,, Wheels GTS . Tail pipes way way short = aftermarket ,,,, The only option was the vinyl roof and engine . Full inspection needed to verify factory chev equipped

Wow mate that car is schmick. I have a 71 350 hq statesman deville. All original. It was my grandfather’s god bless him..Everything bar the door cards has been reconditioned. Any chance you could tell me who reconditioned your door cards?

My Mother had a new Chev 350, basically a Statesman with Chev badges all over it and a 350SBC.Hers was beige,tan vinyl top and brocade seats. 50 years ago.....time has flown.

Obvious not a standard engine? Sounds lumpy. Nice though.

Some moron at pub today looking at O.Metallic GTS said to his feral mates " shame about the colour ", then got in his 1994 Suzuki Baleno and drove off. O.Metallic is the sexiest colour GH ever came up with and this old slop of a man was no where near sexy
