One day in Amsterdam: Stedelijk, parks, salted herring
I'm visiting Amsterdam for the first time, just for a day. As a designer, I couldn't miss visiting the museum. Walk with me noticing designs by Studio Dumbar and other great examples. Let's try local food and spend three hours in the park.

Moving in Dubai apartment vlog
Просмотров 29711 месяцев назад
I found my home! The place was an empty space when we moved in, we had only fitted kitchen and bathroom. We got our furniture from IKEA and assembled everything on our own. So here is the apartment where 2 designers live. Follow me on instagram annetkalin 👀 #movingvlog #dubai #dubaiapartments

What a gorgeous clip. This is the Amsterdam I know and love. Crisp camera work fully catching the atmosphere. Don't fall for the tourist traps. Expensive and time consuming. Most paintings by Van Gogh aren't in Amsterdam but in Otterloo anyway. And if you like 'art in parks' the Kröller-Müller Museum is just for you. Best enjoyed on a bicycle. "We prefer to turn to the unknown street" is the secret of visiting Amsterdam. Well done, that is where you find the gems. The finest shops are there. Just enter and be welcomed.

Van Gogh museum was designed by Gerrit Rietveld. FYI (assume you know him, considering your background). One of my favorite designers…

Next time rent a ‘OV fiets’ (OV Bike), it’s only €2 for a day. Then you can see a lot more of the city 🏆

Ohhh yeah! Thanks ❤I'll definitely rent a bike next time. I was just worried about figuring everything out and which app I should download to make it easy. I noticed there were many other bike rental companies too. Is OV the best and easiest option for a tourist to rent?

    • @kaydesign

@@annetkalin Whoops, I was wrong. Today a OV bike costs 4,55 per day. It’s indeed cheaper, and more convenient because you can return them on almost every NS station. It’s also nice to bike outside Amsterdam to little fishing villages like ‘Durgerdam’ or ‘Marken’ etc. PS Also a (design) tip I have never seen tourist do; visit the unique Kröller Müller museum. Amazing statue garden, spectacular art and in one of the biggest nature parks in the Netherlands where you can bike tru on free white bikes. It’s almost a surreal experience in my book, specially the park 🤓👍

It is not salted, pickled or herring in brine or even all the things I read on the US-based internet sites that, like most of Americans, have no clue about the rest of the world. Even on Wiki they got it all wrong. It is raw herring that is kept on salt on the ship, that is naturally preserved by being cured/fermented by the enzymes from the pancreas, which is left behind when cleaning the intestines and only removed last moment when you buy it at the stall or market. Not to be confused with "zure haring" (sour herring) that you can find in a supermarket only in a pot or tin that is pickled. I read the title of your vlog, and I can't even bother to watch it. We founded you, gave you your constitution, anthem and flag and founded your first capital. All we get back is negative slur and one-liners containing Dutch while our culture is so much further ahead, sphisticated and developed than yours and still we are called "Dutches" as a derogative slur like blackies or fatties on the perception Americans are superior somehow. We actually have culture and not ghosts in 40 year old houses or are scared of clowns because movies say so or worship a family car or a coaster that belonged to grandma. We don't live in those kinda bubbles here... We are the culture you originate from, not a commercial copy and paste economy that serves everything in a bottle with a school system that disables people to distinguish left from right that, as long as you can sing the anthem and thank people for their service, seems to be sufficient.

Hi, thank you for your comment ❤ I respect you and your country. The title of the vlog was chosen based on the main episodes of my trip that I liked the most. I didn’t know the story about the herring, so thanks for clarifying it for me. I wrote it that way because it is the name of the dish from the restaurant menu (Pantry) in Amsterdam. You can check it yourself; I left the location in the video. Also, I'm not American.
