NO WAY A STARSHIP IS GOING TO JUST SIT THERE WAITING FOR THE EMPIRE TO LINE UP A SHOT!
Ah the continuing debate...if we take the technical specs from the respective universes, this simulation is pretty spot-on in some regards. SW weapons deliver mega-joules of energy - at very short ranges. The question is, why would any Federation vessel close to such a range? ST weapons have ranges measured in tens of thousands of kilometers. They are also highly maneuverable compared to a SW capital ship. With the weapons and sensors of a Federation starship, the battle would be over before the Star Destroyer knew it was in trouble.
Star fleet is a science based fleet. With sensor arrays that would know the capability of that star destroyer from light years away. In case of a first contact scenario were the star destroyer turns out to be hostile a galacy class would gut that thing like a fish with it's phasers. It is not the same technological level. Star wars uses lasers, something so easily to defend with Star Trek shields that it counts as a joke in the series. Star Trek is using Phasers, wich are highly configurable particle projector cannons. Not to forget the have beam technology. A photon torpedo materializing on your bridge can really mess up your day.
Do they have shields in Star Wars?
This is kinda dumb. ST has really good sensers, they’d be able to get a reading on how powerful the Star Destroyer’s weapon is. After that, they’re not just going to sit there while the SD brings its gun to bear. One thing that both SW and ST tend to agree on is Officers in SW get promoted by their connections and tactical and strategic thinking qualities like Grand Admiral Thrawn possess are rare in the Imperial Fleet, whereas in the ST universe, you don’t make captain, especially of a starship, unless you’ve got your sh!t together.

@, well, how long a video are you thinking? Why is ST in SW’s universe? Or is it the other way around. ST aren’t the shoot first kind of folks. They’re primarily explorers, and generally try for a peaceful or diplomatic solution. ST ships tend to be fairly nimble and use movement as part of their attack and defense, and always try to keep their strongest side to the enemy, plus they can fight and maneuver will at warp. SW large ships will get close and go toe to toe with each other. They only use hyperspace for quick travel and must drop back to normal space to change directions. As to ship’s power, that’s a tough one. ST canon says that a single constitution class star Ship, like the original series Enterprise, has the firepower to destroy the entire habitual surface of a plant by itself (General Order 24, season 1, episode 23, “A Taste of Armageddon”), whereas in SW, operation cinder, which decimated the surface of Mandalore, it sounds like it took a fleet of Star Destroyers to do the job. But at same time, we’ve seen Star Destroyers collide with each other and it looked like, although badly damaged, they survived. Whereas collisions between ST vessels looked like the damage is must greater. So, reason for the crossover. Why the immediate fight instead of investigation (even the Empire would want to know what new kind of foe they’re facing and try to take the ship intact, if possible for research. Assume ST weapons more powerful but SW ships more durable. Difference in tactics, SW stay reasonably stationary and slug it out, ST hit and move, hit and move. Finally, probably better quality of officers and crew with ST as they are volunteers and WANT to be in space, versus Imperial officers, most who got where they’re at, by connections rather than competence; and crew, who are mostly probably conscripts. This is Federation v. Empire. If you’re going to include others like Klingons or Cardassians, or Romulans, then we have to go back, be cause their motivations and tactics will be different.
