This is a short video showing a 360 degree view of the 709. hand dug earthen bunker at Midway Village Museum in Rockford, IL. This set of images is from 2011, since then the position has been converted into a full walled structure. Video coming soon!

A man from England visited us some years ago. He was afraid to even be in a room with guns. Since I am an evil person, I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. How about shooting a WW2 German MP40 submachinegun? We showed him how to hold it and shoot it. He fired a magazine and started smiling. He fired a few more magazines. He was smiling so much, I thought he would break his face. He came back to visit us again a couple of years later. His first question, "Which machinegun can I fire this time?" We asked him what his friends in England thought about us shooting machineguns, "You Americans are crazy." They may think we are crazy, but I'm the one who is smiling every time I take one of my machineguns to the range. (WW2 British Lanchester Mk. 1* made by BOSS and an Uzi).
I made this the birthday song my famiky has to sing to me after I got sick of the drony version sung in the States. =)

This video deserves so much more than one like! The authentic gear and kit, the various postures demonstrated, and showing plenty footage of the gun firing made this such a superb historical video. I would love to see similar ones done for all the participants of the war. Thank you for this!

Wish they fired live 75 mm rounds...if u see actual footage of these guns in action the crew had no time to do anything else but focus on the gun not shoot their side arms
That's a flare pistol not a side arm, I'm assuming they used it to signal that rounds were completed.
