My home setup with a Tascam DP-32SD multitrack recorder. Tools of the bass player…..
Did I hear you say you are running Bass VI strings on this bass? Perhaps I misunderstood you. Thanks.
This kind of had my head spinning at first. I am running my Zoom G2xFour, and Zoom MS-60B+ to my Zoom R12 which has dual sensing MIC/LINE Inputs. So I was like how do I gain stage this (I must be going line In). The lowest gain on the Zoom R12 Is +6db, so I wasn't sure If that was effecting my overall Input gain, given that the G2xFour has a global volume setting as the B6 and that was sort of a headache as I could not rap my head around the fact of the global volume on both units. So glad you came along and supported my Initial thoughts on what was going on as per the gain staging. Whish these units had a unity gain setting to make life easier. Thanks for the Info!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad it helped.
I have one. A few things I noticed of mine: my sweepable mid switch is reveresed (high mids when toggled to the up position); messing around with the blend adds a sweet presence to the tone; chords in the high register are difficult because of the tilt. Congrats on your channel, keep it up!
Thanks for watching and the comment. Yes, I can see how chording could be challenging. The main project I use this bass on requires minimal chording so I never really had the issue. I hope you enjoy the bass as much as I do. It is really great for the price.
For as much time as we put into it, the crowd is basically oblivious.
Like when I feel I completely trainwreck a gig and everyone says it sounded awesome🤣. We are way too hard on ourselves.
Hi Terry Do you have these worship tones saved? I would love to try these patches on my B6
nice hint, thanks, do you know what the dry parameter is for? and I have an offtopic question if you dont mind: how can I control headphones volume without altering the xlr out volume?
The master volume on the back of the unit does not affect the xlr output.
@@terrymcgaha3560 but it doesn´t affect the Aux in either right?
@@diegoalejo15it will affect the aux in. In the signal chain, the aux in and the 1/4” output are the only 2 things after the master volume. Everything else is before it.
@@terrymcgaha3560 sorry but I think this is incorrect, the aux in is after the master volume but it´s an IN connection so it shouldn´t be affected by the master. I have a B3n and and though I could not find the signal chain graph when I connect something to aux in it´s not affected by master vol. Besides, aux in goes to both 1/4 outs in B3n which sucks. I guess (I wish) that in B6 it does not go through xlr out.
I had the B6. It colored my tone too much. Went back to pedals.
It definitely has its own unique sound. I much rather myself use it strictly for ampless situations. I still like my tried and trued bass>tuner>compressor>amp setup.
Open Core Patcher.
Yes, there is always a work around!!!!!
Nice work! It's a dotted eighth note on my TC delay, and you'll get the bounce on the galloping part if you slap it gently. Sounds meaner with a Spector NS2.
Yes, the choice of bass on the video was out of pure laziness. I didn’t feel like going to the other room🤣. My Jazz bass strung with flats is my preferred bass while playing that song. And as far as the slight slap, I couldn’t agree more.
glad to find another B6 enjoyer! i hope you dont mind if i cop some of your your patches!
Please do!!!! The whole reason I do this is to make the world of bass better. Thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed.
I think I would use both: the MX5 for effects as it has almost no limit on the number of pedals to use, and the b6 for compressors and amps and IRs as I don't use real Amp ever live.
I’ve considered running the MX5 through the effects loop on my B6 for just that reason. Set up a good amp tone with some compression and eq, then loop out to the mx5 for any and all effects. Just never really sat down and tried it.
You only use this setup (send to external AMP) to monitor yourself right? Or do you mic that AMP to the Mixer? Or if you return the External AMP to your B6 that mean the Sim AMP and IR will be affected in sound?
Just to monitor yourself. The XLR will go to FOH
Good details. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed the info.
I have one of these in my home studio. I’ve been using it every day for about 3 years and I love it! I had planned to use it live too but it ended up being so integrated into my studio that it’s become a hassle to disconnect everything every time I need to use it. I ended up buying a Souncraft UI24 for live :)
I’m still torn on wanting to move it around for live use. I have the gator road case so I’m not worried about damaging it, just for ease of moving stuff around. I use an XR18 most of the time for live, but sometimes I need the extra inputs. I need endless funds to supply my habit!!!
Hi thanks for the tips, very helpful. I also noticed that this pedal has a master volume knob next to the amp output or di. What level do you set that one?
Since that volume knob only controls the 1/4” output, I don’t use it that much since I usually use the xlr. But when I do use it to an amp I keep it in the middle. If I plug headphones into the unit I would use it then as well.
Terry, check out this tune played by Mateo Mancuso & his band. ruclips.net/video/ST9--HWOTA8/видео.htmlsi=-G0_To5qN8jnnaqj
It’s a great bass! I played one the other day at Guitar Center. Don’t let that other comment from that person/idiot bother you! Great video.
That stuff doesn’t bother me at all. I actually enjoy that I can bring someone to that. 🤣 It is a great bass. Is it a one stop shop? No. I have guitars and basses from a few hundred dollars up to several thousand, and one thing I’ve learned is fit and finish aside, a good playing instrument is a good playing instrument.
This review should be shorter simple put pawn shop junk worth 100 bucks right out of a store
Maybe a longer video explaining how $100 pawn shop junk can out perform instruments that cost 10 times as much. Thanks for the idea!!!

Question. Does tascam have the routing feature? Meaning do I have to keep taking out the mic jack ,to put it in to another jack,to record a second , or third vocal part, or can I route the track ,with out having to pull the mic cord out to do so.......help.
Any input can be routed to any track, or multiple tracks if you like.
Great advice. Thanks!
Thank you for watching
Is it possible to use the 1/4 out into the amp return and xlr to foh?
Yes it is. I’ve used it in that manner before with no issues.
@@terrymcgaha3560 So this will eliminate the need for a loop patch?
@@LeoGarciaBassyes. The loop patch would need to be used only if you were trying to send a completely different signal to foh and amp.
From a bass perspective, and with regard to effects sounds, would you choose this or the zoom and why?
I would choose the zoom over the Headrush. 1. XLR out with 4 DI options 2. It is strictly bass amps and effects 3. The dual input is nice 4. Live, it’s simpler to use
@@terrymcgaha3560 thanks!
Hi Terry. I've a question for you have you tried using zoom b6 with zoom BTA-1 that works as a bridge for mobile phones or tablets. How effective is it to connect and use it on stage? Is it reliable like connecting zoom b6 with laptop through the USB cable?
I have not used one. I don’t really like tinkering while I play so I’m kind of a set it and forget - play around at home type when it comes to the B6. I would like to see what one can do with it one day though.
Sorry to hear this, real bummer. I use opencire, updated my old 2012 macbook pro with updated MacOs and worked like a charm. Studio One 7 works great. Will have to get a new machine eventually. If you want a work around until you get a new machine Opencore is the best option for now.
I was considering going that route. As far as the computer goes, it’s fully upgraded to the max ram for the chipset, and while it was apart I upgraded the SSD and fans. It’s actually, and surprisingly, a very fast and capable computer besides the OS. Studio One 6 runs great on it and paired with a studiolive 32SX, it far outperforms my needs. Thanks for the suggestion.
Do u know how the B6 compare to Headrush Prime? (Ease of use & FX)
I’ve only messed with the MX5. I’m sure the Prime has even more to offer than the MX5 though. If it’s more guitar than bass offerings, I’m not sure.
This only a warning to people who think they can use ancient hardware with modern software. That goes for any technology today.
Atleased someone sees it🤣
Amen, real talk. Opportunity meets Preparation.
There is nothing worse than to deal with unprepared bandmates. I realize sometimes, everyone forgets something or something fails. But come on people!!!!
A computer from 2012? That's 12 years old in tech years, is like driving a car built in 1935. This may be the Universe's way of getting you to upgrade?
NEVER!!!!!!🤣 But yes, time to switch my setup to my other computer. Maybe…….
Can we hear it???? 🎸
I’ll make the next video playing through the MX5.
Please can I use the zoom b6 with my active switch on?
Absolutely. That is how I use it most of the time.
@@terrymcgaha3560thank You very much
Please can I use the zoom b6 with my bass guitar in active mode?
The bass signal should not affect anything. You might have to adjust your input settings a little bit it will not harm the unit.
Alright. Thank You very much
What pedal board are you using??
It’s a pedaltrain but I can’t remember the exact model. There is only 1 larger though.
@@terrymcgaha3560 thank you!
Thanks for this. I have a B6 and to me, this limitation seemed to be the only flaw with the unit, until you found this solution. Is there any audio disadvantage to using the send rather than the main output to the amp? I had a look at the specs and they seemed to be identical in impedence as far as I could tell. I wish Zoom would do a firmware update, so you could do this with the amp output and the XLR, just for it feeling like the 'right' way to do it. They have this feature on the new Zoom MS60b+, with a little routing arrow on the display. Perhaps the hardware shares the same circuit/block for output or something so it's not possible.
The difference in signal, if any, should not be noticed at all from what I see in the wiring schematic. I doubt any firmware could fix this problem because of how the unit is wired, unless it’s controlled by the processor itself. Maybe someone who has taken it apart and dealt with the chips could chime in, but from how it reads, it is what it is. Hopefully on the next large footprint unit they develop keeps this in mind.
Why not use TRS-XLR cable instead of DI-box when the Headrush do have TRS connections?
Personal preference. Though for some connections, adapters might be ok, some have signal loss.
@@terrymcgaha3560 I use a standard trs-xlr cable, no adapters at all.
Is it just me or does thing sound good right out of the box. W a decent drum backing tracks also. I like the tuner as well.

Du musst das nur richtig bedienen, dann klingen die eigentlich besser als in jedem anderen Multi effect. Dass das so kacke klingt in deinem Video liegt leider an dir.
Yes, I agree. I do not usually play with synths. I’m sure with lots of tinkering, one could get the desired tone.
@@terrymcgaha3560 Yes, sorry, no bad meaning from my side. You can watch you tube, just search for Zoom B6 Synth. You will see there a few people get very good sounds out of it...
Thanks for more videos Terry! There's so much you can do with all of the ZOOM pedals. Just takes time to explore.

Hey, I thought about doing the same thing!
If it’s worth having, it’s worth modding!!!!🤣
Where did you get the brass nut for it?
I made it. I’m a machinist by trade so everything to make it is easily accessible to me.
Awesome. Thank you so much!! I pieced together a patch that sounded similar as well. I used a compressor into an octave pedal into the SVT amp into the Faze drive into a 4x10 svt cab. I'm using a Sterling 5 string with an active humbucker btw.
There was a few routes I tried to get close. It’s amazing how many methods can be used to get the same tone. I ended up settling for the simplest.
How well are ypu able to comp edit on timing problems with studio one using the 32sx?
I really don’t have timing issues at all. Most projects I play with are not many channels, and most of my recording is done on other devises and uploaded to S1. That could be why I haven’t run into any issues.
When you have Tascam DP-32SD, you don't need any other soundcard, right? I usually record midis playing midi keyboard. Can I assign these 32 channels to Cubase's mixer?
The tascam does not work as an interface. It is a stand alone unit that records to an SD card. You can however record to the unit, and transfer the tracks into your DAW. But not in real time as 32 individual tracks.
@@terrymcgaha3560 Thank you so much for the informative reply. I thought I could use it as a midi controller.
Man, your videos on this effects pedal have been so helpful. I play bass for a worship band, I also have the Zoom B6, and I'm trying to achieve a sound similar to Adam Kiser's from Bethel Music. He's using an Aguilar Tone Hammer with an Electro Harmonix Micro Synth. Can you help me with this?
I’ll be traveling for some gigs this weekend. But after I get home next week I’ll start to work on a patch and throw a video out for it. Hopefully next weekend I’ll get a video out. I don’t foresee an issue getting a tone close to his.
@@terrymcgaha3560 You are AWESOME!!! Thank you so much!!
